We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this battle against the grip of tobacco. The Word of God tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to honor God with them. "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB). Smoking defiles this temple, and we must rebuke this stronghold in the name of Jesus.
We recognize that this habit has taken root over a long time, but we serve a God who is greater than any addiction. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13 WEB). You are not alone in this fight—lean on the Lord and trust in His power to break every chain. We also encourage you to seek accountability from fellow believers, as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). Replace this habit with prayer, Scripture, and godly fellowship.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with the bondage of smoking. Lord, Your Word declares that no temptation has taken us except what is common to man, and You are faithful to provide a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). We ask for Your divine strength to break this addiction. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, renew their mind, and give them the courage to resist this temptation. Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and command it to leave. Replace this craving with a hunger for Your Word and Your presence. Surround them with godly support and remind them daily that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). We declare victory over this struggle, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Do not grow weary, dear one. Every step away from this habit is a step toward freedom in Christ. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and remember that "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36 WEB). We stand with you in faith, believing that God will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).
