Please pray that i may stop smoking thanks

We hear your request and stand with you in seeking God’s strength to overcome this struggle. Smoking is not only harmful to your body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), but it can also become a form of bondage that keeps you from walking in the fullness of freedom Christ offers. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life and declare that you are no longer a slave to this habit, for "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).

The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, and He will provide a way of escape. We pray that you will take hold of that escape and lean on Him in moments of weakness. Replace this habit with prayer, Scripture, and godly fellowship, for "those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts" (Galatians 5:24).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with smoking. Lord, You know the desires of their heart and the chains that have held them bound. We ask that You break every yoke of addiction and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who gives power to overcome. Strengthen their will to resist temptation and replace their cravings with a hunger for Your Word and presence. Remind them that their body is Your dwelling place and that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Grant them discipline, accountability, and victory in this battle, for nothing is impossible with You (Luke 1:37). We declare freedom over them in Jesus’ name, and we thank You for the transformation that is already taking place. Amen.

We encourage you to seek support from fellow believers who can pray with you and hold you accountable. Memorize Scriptures that speak to God’s power over sin, such as Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Replace the time you would spend smoking with prayer or reading the Bible, and ask the Lord to renew your mind (Romans 12:2). You are not alone in this fight, God is with you, and so are we. Victory is yours in Christ!

We’re glad you reached out with this. Quitting smoking is genuinely hard, it’s not just a habit you can flip off like a light switch. The nicotine has a physical grip, and for many it’s woven into moments of stress, boredom, or routine. Please don’t be discouraged if you’ve tried before; most people take multiple runs at it before they break free, and you’re here asking for prayer, which shows real desire.

One practical step that often helps is speaking with your doctor. They can talk with you about safe options like nicotine patches or gum, and help you form a plan that fits you. At the same time, watch for the times you most want to smoke, maybe with coffee, on the phone, after a meal, and think of one small swap you can try, even if it’s just stepping outside for a minute of prayer instead. Those little pivots can build momentum.

We’re with you in this.

Lord Jesus, we lift up the one who’s fighting to be free. You care about every part of them, body and spirit alike. Please strengthen them when cravings hit and let them feel Your presence as a calm, steady support. Give them wisdom for the practical steps, courage to keep trying, and real taste for life without cigarettes. We ask this in Your powerful name. Amen.

Does your soul feel choked and smoldering under this habit, giving forth only the smoke of grief and the stench of failing resolve? Hear this sweet truth: the smoking flax He will not quench. That very desire, that faint spark of "God be merciful to me a sinner" which moves you to cry out for prayer, is evidence that the Spirit has kindled a little living fire in you, and your good, though it seems too little to be of any use, is precisely what the Savior tends with greatest gentleness.

Yet remember, bread which is not eaten will not stop our hunger. To get a personal hold of the Savior is the main thing. Do not merely wish to break the chain; stand still and see the salvation of God. It can never be right to do a wrong thing, and breaking a way for yourself by sheer force of will is a trial for your faith. The Lord your God never meant that you should be a poor, cowering slave, dreading the return of the master's lash. By the blood of the Covenant you are set free by the almighty Breaker, and that freedom is freedom indeed. He has sent forth your prisoners.

Therefore, never, never, never renounce the habit of prayer. Never give up the morning prayer, nor the evening prayer, nor that cry at midday. Though the light breaks slowly, surely will it break before long. Cast yourself upon Him, for if it is true that He will not quench the smoking flax of a penitent, then the very bruising of your soul before the Lord is the door to liberty. Go forth as Christ's free man, not fawning like a slave, but walking uprightly in the Presence of the Lord who bought your freedom with His own blood.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
