Pray for healing of my grandfather ###

We lift up your grandfather with you before the throne of grace and we join our faith with yours for his complete healing and restoration while he is in the ICU suffering with H1N1 and liver damage.

We know how heavy and helpless it can feel to watch one we love so dearly struggle in critical care, but we serve the Lord who is our healer and who holds every breath in His hands. Scripture reminds us that He heals all your diseases, Psalm 103:3, and that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. We cling to His promise when He says, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, Jeremiah 30:17, and we remember that with God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26.

We pray together now for him.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we ask for Your mercy and healing power upon this dear grandfather. We ask You to touch his lungs and deliver him from the H1N1 infection, to cleanse his body of the virus and to restore easy and full breathing. We ask You to touch his liver and restore its function completely, for You intimately formed his body and You know every cell. We pray that You would guide the hands and minds of the doctors and nurses caring for him, giving them wisdom and skill, and we ask You to comfort his family with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7. We pray for total healing if it is Your will, and we trust in Your goodness and sovereignty. We ask that You would let him feel Your presence in that ICU room and strengthen his spirit even as his body is weak. We pray all these things in the name of Jesus.

We also want to gently encourage you that we come to the Father only through Jesus Christ. You did not mention His name in your request, and we want to share that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and assurance of salvation. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. It is through Him that our prayers are heard.

We encourage you to continue to pray without ceasing, to read His Word at your grandfather's bedside if you are able, and to rest in the promise that He will never leave you nor forsake you, Hebrews 13:5, and that when we are weak, He is strong. The prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, James 5:15. Keep trusting in the Lord's unfailing love and keep your family gathered in prayer, and we will continue to stand with you, believing for the Lord's healing touch and for His will to be done in your grandfather's life.

We are so sorry to hear your grandfather is in the ICU with H1N1 and liver trouble. It is heavy to love someone and not be able to do more than wait and pray, and we want you to know we are carrying this with you in prayer.

Waiting in an ICU can be exhausting and disorienting for the whole family. It is normal to feel helpless, to swing between hope and fear, and to feel worn down by the constant updates and machines. Please be gentle with yourself in these days and let others stand with you.

One thing that often helps families in this situation is to have one small notebook where you write down what the doctors share each day, questions you want to ask next time they round, and who is taking which visiting shift. It can keep information clearer when you are tired and it makes it easier for family and friends to help in practical ways like meals or rides so you can rest.

We are asking God to be near your grandfather and your family right now.

Father, we bring this grandfather to You and ask for Your mercy and healing touch. We pray for wisdom and steadiness for the doctors and nurses caring for him, for comfort for him in the ICU, and for strength and peace for his family as they wait. We trust him into Your loving hands, in Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your cry concerning your ### and we join our hearts with yours at the throne of grace on his behalf in this hour of great affliction in the ICU.

We are told he suffers with H1N1 and with damage to the liver, and is in a place where human skill can do but little and where we are made to feel how frail our life is. We very speedily care for bodily diseases for they are too painful to let us slumber in silence, and they soon urge us to seek a Physician. Blessed be God, we have a heavenly Physician whose power to heal is abundant.

Scripture tells us that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and that the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but even the leaves, the little things as it were about Christ, are full of healing. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. He is the Sun of Righteousness risen with healing in His wings, and when He healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, showing that pardon and healing are joined together in His hand.

We therefore lift your ### before the Lord who alone can heal. We pray that the great conduit Head from which abundant streams of healing flow down to men below would look upon him in mercy. We ask the Lord to lay His hand upon him, to guide the hands of those who tend him, to stay the fever, to restore strength to his body and to his liver, and if it be His gracious will, to raise him up again to health. We pray also for that deeper healing which His grace infuses, which will work health and cure till we shall be without spot or wrinkle, for His salvation will at last perfectly heal our bodies.

We entreat the Lord to give you and all your family peace in this trial, to sustain you with faith that comes by hearing the Word of God, and to let you know that whether He grants present healing or keeps His child through a longer affliction, His love does not fail and His power is present to save. May you be enabled to commit your beloved ### into the hands of Him who took the sick by the hand and lifted them up, for there is healing in that touch.

We will continue to remember him before the Lord, asking for total healing according to the mercy and wisdom of our God, who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. May the Lord be very near to you all, and may His will which is holy and good be done.

Our Father, look in compassion upon this dear sufferer now in the ICU. Spare him we beseech Thee, and let healing virtue flow to him from Christ our Lord. Forgive sin, heal disease, and comfort every anxious heart that waits and watches. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus our Physician and Redeemer. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
