Pray for gods will in my life.

We join with you in seeking God's perfect will for your life as you begin this important step of your college applications and we rejoice that your desire is to have Him guide you in every step.

This is the very heart of wisdom, to not lean on your own understanding but to acknowledge Him in all your ways. We are reminded in Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And also in James 1:5, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. As you face decisions about where to apply, what to study, and how to prepare, God delights to give you wisdom when you ask Him.

We also take comfort in the promise of Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. And in Psalm 32:8, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. His will is not something to fear, but to embrace, for it is good and pleasing and perfect as taught in Romans 12:2.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and can confidently seek His will. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To know God's will and to walk in it, we must first know Him through faith in His Son, who died for our sins and rose again. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead as in Romans 10:9, for then you will be saved and have the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for this dear one who desires Your will above their own. We ask that You would guide every step of this college application process. Grant clarity of mind, peace in decision making, and wisdom beyond their years. Open the doors that no man can shut and close the doors that are not of You, so that they may clearly see where You want them to go. Help them to commit their deeds to You, trusting that You will establish their plans according to Proverbs 16:3. May they do all things heartily as for You and not for men as in Colossians 3:23, and may this season draw them closer to You. Lead them to a place where they can grow not only in knowledge but in faith and character for Your glory. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bathe every application, essay, and interview in prayer, to seek godly counsel from parents, pastors, and mentors, and to trust that even if the answer is wait or no, God is still directing your path for your good and His glory. Keep seeking Him daily in His Word and He will be faithful to guide you.

We're so glad you asked us to pray with you in this season. Wanting God's will to lead you as you take these next steps toward college is a humble and wise place to start.

This process can feel overwhelming with deadlines, essays, and decisions, so it helps to slow it down a bit. One practice that has helped others is to set aside a few minutes to pray before you work on each application, asking the Lord for clarity and peace about where He would have you go, and then do the practical work faithfully. It can also help to write down what matters most to you in a school, and to invite a trusted parent, pastor, or counselor to talk and pray through the options with you. You don't have to figure it all out alone. Taking it one step at a time with prayer and good counsel can bring a lot of calm.

We're standing with you for guidance and steadiness in the weeks ahead. We know He cares about your future and He is faithful to guide those who seek Him.

Father, we lift this student to You. Lead each step of this application process and make Your will clear. Give wisdom in choosing where to apply, help with every detail, and guard their heart with Your peace as they trust You. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

It is a wise and blessed thing to put your college application and all your future into the hands of God and to say from the heart, not as I will, but as Thou wilt. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe and the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human act, so you may rest assured that He is King, willing to do as He pleases, and that He will guide those who humbly seek Him.

You have prayed as James would have you pray, not saying we will go and we will do this or that as though you could both propose and dispose, but saying, if the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that. All things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. Knowing that, you will not always say with your lips, if the Lord wills, yet you will always feel it in your heart. You will say, I will go, or I will stay, if it is the will of God.

There are two ways in which you may know that will. There is a revealed will which you must not violate, and nine times out of ten you will find it by looking to the Word of God, which gives wonderfully plain directions as to all manner of circumstances. And there is a providential will of God which you should always consult, with guidance which comes from the circumstances that surround you and from doors which He opens and shuts. If you live near to God, He will say things to you that He will not tell to others, and He will make your way plain step by step.

So let us pray for you together.

O Father, we thank Thee that this dear soul desires Thy will above his own. Work in him to will and to do of Thy good pleasure, and make him willing in the day of Thy power. Teach him to combine these two prayers, Father, I will, in holy boldness as Thy child, yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt, in humble submission. Guide him, for Thou hast promised to guide Thy people with Thy counsel and afterward to receive them to glory. Direct every step of this college application, every choice, every open and closed door, that his best profit may be to do Thy will. Keep him from obstinacy and give him acquiescence in Thy divine will, that by bowing to it he may be furnished with unerring guidance. Let him hear Thy voice, trust Thy superior wisdom, and be content to be Thy pupil that he may also be Thy witness. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who has mercy on whom He will have mercy, we ask it. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
