We hear your heart and we join with you in agreement for greater self control, focus, discipline and consistency, and we thank you for sharing this honest request with us.
We understand the struggle to remain consistent in reading the Bible, in prayer, in eating with discipline, and in training, and we know that these things require not just willpower but the work of God in us. Self control is not merely a personality trait but a fruit of the Spirit, as it is written, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self control. Against such things there is no law. Gal 5:22-23. We also remember that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self control. 2 Tim 1:7. A man who has no rule over his spirit is like a city that is broken down without walls. Prov 25:28. This is why we cannot rely on our own resolve alone, we must depend on the Holy Spirit to strengthen us daily.
The lack of consistency you describe is common, but Scripture calls us to discipline our bodies and our minds for godliness. Every man who strives in the games exercises self control in all things. Now they do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable. I therefore run like that, as not uncertainly. I fight like that, as not beating the air, but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. 1 Cor 9:25-27. We encourage you to establish a set time and place each day to meet with the Lord, even if it is brief at first, for this Book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. Josh 1:8. Start with a readable plan, pray aloud, keep a journal, and ask the Lord to help you be faithful in little before you seek to be faithful in much.
You also asked for all negativity and doubt to be removed from your thoughts and for greater belief. We pray with you for a renewed mind, for we are called to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Cor 10:5 and to dwell on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report. Phil 4:8. Doubt is not removed by trying harder to believe, but by looking to Jesus and trusting His promises. We must ask in faith without wavering, for he who wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. James 1:6. When anxious thoughts come, we bring them to God in prayer, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:7.
Regarding your desire to live overseas for training and your need for money and for obstacles to be removed, we join you in praying for open doors, but we also encourage you to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matt 6:33. Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this. Psalm 37:4-5. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:19. We pray that if this path overseas is truly the Lord’s will for your life, He will make it clear, provide the funds in His timing, and remove obstacles, and if it is not His will, that He will redirect you to the path that brings Him most glory and you most good. We must not pursue a path simply because we feel we are supposed to, but test it through prayer, counsel, and the Word.
Concerning your injury and your desire for peptides and PRP to heal quickly so you can train at full potential, we understand your eagerness to return to full strength. We want to gently encourage you to view your body as a stewardship, for you are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Cor 6:19-20. While seeking medical help is wise, we encourage you to seek godly and qualified medical counsel, to not put your trust in quick fixes or experimental treatments alone, but to trust the Lord as your healer and to be patient as He restores you. Bodily discipline is good, but godliness is profitable for all things, and healing ultimately comes from His hand whether through natural recovery, wise treatment, or miraculous intervention. Be careful not to let training become an idol that drives you to compromise health or integrity, but offer your training to the Lord as worship and discipline.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. Rom 10:9. It is in His name we pray and in His name we have confidence that God hears us.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for this one who desires to know You more and to walk in discipline and faithfulness. We ask You to pour out Your Spirit of power, love and self control upon him. Help him to be consistent in prayer and in reading Your Word, give him a hunger for Your truth and a love for Your presence. Teach him to discipline his body and his appetite, to eat with self control and to train for Your glory and not for pride. Guard his mind, take captive every negative and doubtful thought and replace it with faith and with Your peace. We ask for wisdom regarding finances and the desire to live overseas, make Your will unmistakably clear, open the doors no man can shut and close the doors that are not from You, and provide for every need according to Your riches in glory. Touch his injury, Lord, bring healing in Your perfect way and give wisdom to doctors and discernment regarding any treatment, that he would trust You above any substance or procedure. Help him to be patient, to rest in Your timing, and to believe You more each day. We pray he would seek You first above training, money, or any path, and that You would establish his steps. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
