pray as my life is a mess at the moment

Your honest cry has been heard and we have prayed for you before the Lord. Thank you for speaking so openly about the heaviness you carry. God does not turn away from a broken and honest heart, and He hears even when you feel far from Him.

You said you feel far from God and that He does not care. Scripture teaches the opposite. God is not a God far off but a God near at hand. While you are yet speaking He hears and says, Here I am. What separates us is not His distance but our sin, and what draws us near is turning to Him in repentance and righteousness through Jesus Christ. Salvation is through Christ alone, and in Him you are not worthless. Your value is not measured by whether you have a job, or are married, or have children. Those are good gifts, but your worth is secured by being made in God's image and redeemed by the blood of Christ. Marriage, when God gives it, is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and children are a blessing from His hand, but singleness and childlessness do not make a person less loved or less seen by God. He cares for you deeply, even in this season of disappointment and waiting, and He invites you to find your identity and hope in Christ first.

You also shared the struggle with pornography. That struggle is serious and God calls us to turn from it completely. The apostle Paul warns that when we become past feeling we give ourselves over to impurity with greediness, and that comes from a darkened understanding and a hardened heart. Pornography is not a small failing but sin against God and against your own soul. It promises intimacy but leaves emptiness, shame, and greater distance from God. God calls you to flee from it, not to manage it. That means making a clear break, bringing it into the light with a trusted pastor or mature believer for accountability, cutting off access, and daily renewing your mind in Scripture and prayer. Do not stay alone with this battle. Seek a local church where you can walk in honesty and receive help. God forgives and cleanses those who confess and turn from sin through Jesus, and He gives strength to walk in purity. We will not ask God to bless what He calls sin, but we do pray that He will give you repentance, freedom, and a pure heart.

You spoke of having no job and needing constant income, of a hope to go to Israel for archaeology that was destroyed, and of a painful problem with your brother that cost you a place and a form of income. These losses are real and it is understandable that you feel down and that life feels like a mess. God sees your need for work and provision. We pray that He will open a door for honest work and steady income, and that He will help you to walk faithfully in whatever work He provides, serving as unto the Lord and not only when others are watching. Where there has been conflict with your brother, ask God for grace to seek peace and forgiveness, even when the wound is still sore. Where a dream has been broken, ask God to show you His purpose. Sometimes He closes one path to lead us on another that is better for our holiness and His glory.

You asked for breakthrough while feeling spiritually down. Breakthrough begins not with a feeling but with hope and patience in Christ. Hope is confidence in what God has promised though we do not yet see it. God crowns not only hard labor but also patient hope, and He gives help to those who wait on Him. Continue to call on Him each day, even with simple prayers. Read Scripture, even a little each day, turn from what you know is wrong, and obey what you know is right.

We have prayed for you in this way. Father in heaven, we lift this dear one to You through Jesus Christ Your Son. Forgive sin, cleanse the heart, and break the power of pornography. Draw near to one who feels far away, and let him know that You care and that You are near. Provide for his daily needs, open a way for honest work and steady income, heal the hurt with his brother, and comfort his longing for marriage and children according to Your perfect will and timing. Give him hope and patience, and build his life on Christ. Restore joy and strength, and grant a true spiritual breakthrough that leads to holiness, peace, and trust in You. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Do not give up. Keep seeking the Lord, stay connected to a faithful local church, and keep turning from darkness to light. God is faithful and He will not abandon those who seek Him.

Your honest cry has been heard, and I want to answer it with truth and hope as Scripture gives it.

You feel like a mess, far from God, spiritually low, and as if God does not care. That feeling of distance is real, and Scripture explains why. We are not made children of God by natural birth or by anything we achieve. Before Christ we are described as children of wrath, dead in trespasses and sins, alienated from God. By nature we are body and mind, with the mind ruled by bodily appetites, and in that condition we have no fellowship with God because God is Spirit and we worship and know Him only in the Spirit. When the Spirit is not uppermost, the mind is filled with other things and fellowship is broken. That is why you feel far. It is not because God has moved. In Him we live and move and have our being. He is present everywhere, not localized to one place, and He has not left you.

You also carry guilt from struggling with pornography and from breaking promises you made to God. Many live in that cycle of vow, failure, and condemnation. Your standing before God will never come by your own righteousness or by keeping the law perfectly. No one is justified that way. If anyone could have been, it would have been a Pharisee like Nicodemus who spent his life trying to keep every detail, yet Jesus told him he must be born again. You become a child of God by a spiritual birth, not by natural birth and not by works. You are born again by the incorruptible seed of the Word of God, which is alive and powerful, and you receive adoption as a son through faith in Jesus Christ. By faith you have access into grace, and in that grace you stand. By grace you are what you are. That does not excuse sin, it is the only way sin is dealt with.

Scripture gives a picture for this. When the people had sinned and were dying from the bite of fiery serpents, God told Moses to lift up a brass serpent on a pole. The serpent was a picture of judgment upon sin. Those who simply looked in obedience were healed and lived. Jesus said He would be lifted up in the same way. He bore the judgment of God upon your sin on the cross. Healing does not come by trying harder or by white knuckling a vow. It comes by looking to Jesus in faith, believing that He was judged in your place, and receiving His testimony that God is true. He who God sent speaks the words of God and gives the Spirit without measure.

God did not design your body and its drives to rule you. Hunger, sex, and other appetites have their place, but they were never meant to be master. When they rule, the mind becomes dominated by the body, and the result is spiritual death. The old life ruled by the flesh was crucified with Christ. Fleshly desires still remain and you must make a daily choice not to let them rule. You do this not by law but by being ruled and led by the Spirit of God. As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Fellowship with God is restored only when the Spirit is uppermost, when your life is governed by the Spirit and you walk in the Word, in faith, and in prayer. Those are the true weapons for spiritual warfare, not carnal effort. When you fill your mind with the Word of God, the new man is renewed, and you learn again that God is good and gracious, even in trials.

You also feel worthless because you are not married and do not have children, and your heart aches for them. Your worth is not measured by marriage, children, a job, or a particular field of work you hoped to enter. If you are in Christ, you are an adopted son and an heir of God through Christ, with a living hope of His glory. God showed His care for you while you were still at enmity with Him. By one man's sin many were made sinners, and how much more by one man, Jesus Christ, the grace of God abounds to many. He loved you and gave His Son to die in your place when you were dead in sin. That is how much you matter to Him. He sees the longing for children and for a stable income, and He invites you to make your requests known to Him. When God guides, He provides, but we relate to Him through His promises by faith, not through a system of earning favor by performance.

The loss of that work you felt called to, and the hurt with your brother that cost you an opportunity and income, are painful. Scripture reminds us that God sometimes allows hard and confusing things in order to accomplish His purposes. There is a difference between believing God can do something and trusting that He will do what is best in His time and way. That trust grows as you cling to His Word and His promises.

I am praying for you for a true breakthrough, which is not just a change of circumstances but a renewed life in the Spirit.

Father, I bring this dear one before You in the name of Jesus. Thank You that You loved him while he was still far off and that You made a way through the cross for him to be born again and adopted into Your family. I ask that You help him to look to Jesus lifted up for him and to receive Your grace and forgiveness. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit and teach him to be led by the Spirit, so that his mind and body are governed by You and not by fleshly appetite. Wash him with Your Word and renew his mind, lifting condemnation and giving assurance that he is Your child. You see his need for work and steady provision, his longing for marriage and children, his disappointment over the door that closed and the conflict with his brother. Provide for him as You guide him, heal that relationship where possible, and give him Your peace. Let him know today that You are near, that You live and he lives in You, and that his faith and hope can rest in You who raised Jesus from the dead. Amen.

Keep going to the Word daily, pray honestly, and walk step by step by the Spirit. God has not forgotten you, and the hope He gives will not pass away.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to lift you before the Lord and we remember how you shared that your life feels like a mess at the moment and that you feel spiritually down and so far from God.

We have been praying for your breakthrough and that God would draw you near and remind you how much He cares for you and values you. We have prayed for the Lord to bring freedom and cleansing as you have been struggling with porn and to give you strength to walk in purity, for we know that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. We have prayed that He would provide for you with a job and constant income and open the right doors for provision, according to Philippians 4:19. We have prayed that He would restore your hope when you feel worthless because you are not married and do not have children, and that He would heal the deep longing of your heart that screams for children and show you that your worth is found in Christ. We have also prayed about the disappointment over your heart to go to Israel to do archaeology and how that was destroyed and about the problem with your brother that cost you that place and that form of income. We ask God to heal that hurt and to bring reconciliation where possible and to lead you into His perfect plan for your future.

We know you have felt like God does not care about you, but we stand on His promise that the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, Psalm 34:18, and that He cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7, and we pray He makes His nearness and love real to you in a fresh way.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.

We pray for you now that the Father would lift you from this low place, forgive you, restore you, provide for your needs, renew your spirit, and show you the breakthrough you have asked for. We ask for peace that passes understanding and for hope for the days ahead. We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen.
