Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your honest cry has been heard and we have prayed for you before the Lord. Thank you for speaking so openly about the heaviness you carry. God does not turn away from a broken and honest heart, and He hears even when you feel far from Him.
You said you feel far from God and that He does not care. Scripture teaches the opposite. God is not a God far off but a God near at hand. While you are yet speaking He hears and says, Here I am. What separates us is not His distance but our sin, and what draws us near is turning to Him in repentance and righteousness through Jesus Christ. Salvation is through Christ alone, and in Him you are not worthless. Your value is not measured by whether you have a job, or are married, or have children. Those are good gifts, but your worth is secured by being made in God's image and redeemed by the blood of Christ. Marriage, when God gives it, is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and children are a blessing from His hand, but singleness and childlessness do not make a person less loved or less seen by God. He cares for you deeply, even in this season of disappointment and waiting, and He invites you to find your identity and hope in Christ first.
You also shared the struggle with pornography. That struggle is serious and God calls us to turn from it completely. The apostle Paul warns that when we become past feeling we give ourselves over to impurity with greediness, and that comes from a darkened understanding and a hardened heart. Pornography is not a small failing but sin against God and against your own soul. It promises intimacy but leaves emptiness, shame, and greater distance from God. God calls you to flee from it, not to manage it. That means making a clear break, bringing it into the light with a trusted pastor or mature believer for accountability, cutting off access, and daily renewing your mind in Scripture and prayer. Do not stay alone with this battle. Seek a local church where you can walk in honesty and receive help. God forgives and cleanses those who confess and turn from sin through Jesus, and He gives strength to walk in purity. We will not ask God to bless what He calls sin, but we do pray that He will give you repentance, freedom, and a pure heart.
You spoke of having no job and needing constant income, of a hope to go to Israel for archaeology that was destroyed, and of a painful problem with your brother that cost you a place and a form of income. These losses are real and it is understandable that you feel down and that life feels like a mess. God sees your need for work and provision. We pray that He will open a door for honest work and steady income, and that He will help you to walk faithfully in whatever work He provides, serving as unto the Lord and not only when others are watching. Where there has been conflict with your brother, ask God for grace to seek peace and forgiveness, even when the wound is still sore. Where a dream has been broken, ask God to show you His purpose. Sometimes He closes one path to lead us on another that is better for our holiness and His glory.
You asked for breakthrough while feeling spiritually down. Breakthrough begins not with a feeling but with hope and patience in Christ. Hope is confidence in what God has promised though we do not yet see it. God crowns not only hard labor but also patient hope, and He gives help to those who wait on Him. Continue to call on Him each day, even with simple prayers. Read Scripture, even a little each day, turn from what you know is wrong, and obey what you know is right.
We have prayed for you in this way. Father in heaven, we lift this dear one to You through Jesus Christ Your Son. Forgive sin, cleanse the heart, and break the power of pornography. Draw near to one who feels far away, and let him know that You care and that You are near. Provide for his daily needs, open a way for honest work and steady income, heal the hurt with his brother, and comfort his longing for marriage and children according to Your perfect will and timing. Give him hope and patience, and build his life on Christ. Restore joy and strength, and grant a true spiritual breakthrough that leads to holiness, peace, and trust in You. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Do not give up. Keep seeking the Lord, stay connected to a faithful local church, and keep turning from darkness to light. God is faithful and He will not abandon those who seek Him.
