Good Morning Family,
“And Jonathan had David reaffirm his oath out of love for him, because he loved him as he loved himself.†– 1 Samuel 20:17
It should still be the norm where a person’s word means something. In the days when there were no contracts to be signed, no paperwork documented, or no signatures needed. A person’s word was the necessary credential. A yes was yes and a no was no. There were no attempts to manipulate relationships because relationships were essential to a healthy community and family…
We can take a look at an authentic relationship between David and Jonathan. Their relationship was based on mutual respect, admiration and love. We all could learn some valuable lessons from this relationship.
1. The relationship was not based on taking but giving. David and Jonathan did not just want to get something out of the relationship but they wanted to add something to the life of each other…
2. The interest in each other was genuine. It was not a hope that one would trip up so the other could get ahead. This relationship showed that these two had each other’s back. They celebrated for each other and expressed deep hurt when the other party experienced tragedy…
3. The relationship was based on and centered in love. David and Jonathan did not merely express these words but they modeled them as well. Love is an action word – Signs should follow when love is expressed verbally…
Beloved, today evaluate your friendships and relationships. Have a value standard. If you don’t know what you want – When it shows up you won’t be able to recognize. Our relationships should not be based on what we can get but on what we can give. People should not be taking away your energy they should be bringing out the best in you…
“He saw the best in me – When everyone else around could only see the worst in me…â€
