Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You long to be done with all future sin, and that longing is right. Yet no such button exists. The thorn remains, and the apostle Paul himself begged three times for release and did not obtain it. He heard instead, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." When you hear this, receive it thankfully. Do not murmur at the lingering struggle; give thanks for comfort and for affliction alike.

That tongue you confess, which spoke in anger and pride and mixture of emotion, is the very instrument you must now adorn with gentleness. How will it entreat for you if you dishonor it? Fill it with blessing, with alms given even through words, for a word is a better thing than a gift. Speak what gives grace to the hearers, for edification and profit. Train it as you would a wild beast, not by locking it away, but by placing it in the hands of all who are in need.

And watch your confession, that it does not become ostentation. True humility is not calling yourself a sinner ten thousand times; it is when another reviles you, to bear it, to acknowledge your fault, to endure evil speaking without indignation. If you hear from others the same faults you eagerly confess, and yet become savage, that is not candor. Let your repentance bear that fruit.

Apply the remedies God has marked out for you: alms, prayers, compunction, a contrite heart, contempt of possessions. In the crucible of trial, endurance will produce proven character, and hope will not disappoint. You pray for interpretation of your tongue’s gifts, that you may be useful to all and not shut up in yourself. Then use it as Paul did: in bonds for the Gospel, counting weakness as the confirmation of grace.

So be not unthankful. The discipline you feel is the path of the Son who learned obedience through suffering and became the fountain of salvation. Yield to it, and it will bring forth the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

What you have poured out here is a clear-eyed, honest confession. That alone is a mark of the Spirit’s work, because our flesh would rather cover up, justify, or pretend. An honest negative confession is far better than a dishonest positive one. If we are trembling within, it is no use to say, “All is well.” God already knows, and he meets us right there.

You spoke of the tongue, and rightly so. James warns that this small member boasts great things and can kindle a fire that devastates like a forest blaze. It can defile the whole body and be set on fire from hell itself. And who among us has not felt that deadly poison slip out? We can tame all manner of creatures, yet the tongue resists being tamed by human effort. But here is where your desire to “be done with all future sin” meets the path of humility. The power of life and death is in the tongue, and God wants to take that same mouth you used in mixture of emotion and pride, and make it an instrument of building up, encouragement, and strengthening. The tongue that confesses sin honestly can then be filled with words of grace that edify hearers.

You rightly lament those moments when true words were delivered without love, or when your own interests and pain shaped your speech. That is the very misuse the scriptures warn against. But I want you to see that God does not merely suppress your weakness; he transforms it. Jacob was brought to a crippling place, his strength broken, and only then did he receive a new nature and a prince’s power with God and men. When we are humbled, when we know we cannot fix ourselves by a button push, then the power of Christ rests upon us. His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

So let your confession of unclean lips become the ground where you meet the Lord. As you take words and turn to him, asking him to take away iniquity, he receives that offering. The remedy is not a surge of human willpower but a continual dependence on the Spirit, who supplies what we lack. Beware of spiritual pride that wants to feel strong and measure its resources. The King’s power is not reduced to numbers; the pride that seeks to count and compare only leads to trespass. He has given you a more excellent way: the path of love. Love considers others’ interests, speaks with humility, and seeks to build up rather than destroy.

The end of every trial is a harvest of peaceful fruit. The same tongue that has burned will one day confess Jesus as Lord to the glory of God the Father, not as a forced confession but as a willing song. That day is coming for all creation. For now, every honest confession you bring into the light is a step away from the old fire and toward that harvest. His grace is sufficient; his power is with you. Keep praying with others, keep confessing to one another, and trust that the God who raises the dead will complete the good work he has begun in you.

We are deeply moved by your heartfelt confession and the earnestness with which you have sought the Lord’s mercy and transforming power. Thank you for allowing us to stand with you in prayer as you lay bare your struggles, your repentance, and your longing for holiness. It is a sacred privilege to intercede alongside you, especially as you cling to the promises of Scripture—God’s power made perfect in weakness, His sanctifying work through trials, and the hope of a tongue tamed by grace.

As we continue to lift you before the throne of grace, we rejoice in the truth that our Father hears the cries of His children and delights in their turning toward Him. Your desire to be free from sin, to speak with wisdom and love, and to walk in the humility of Christ is already a testimony to His work in you. We pray that He would strengthen you with all power according to His glorious might, so that you may have endurance and patience with joy (Colossians 1:11). May the Holy Spirit remind you daily that in Christ, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and that His grace is sufficient for every moment of weakness.

If the Lord has already begun to answer these prayers—if you’ve experienced His peace, His conviction, or His power at work in your speech and heart—we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report. Your testimony could encourage others who are wrestling with the same battles. If, however, the struggle persists, do not grow weary. We stand ready to continue praying with you, believing that God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Let us press on together, holding fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23).

May the Lord bless you with fresh grace to walk in obedience, to speak life-giving words, and to rest in His unfailing love. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
