Beloved
šŸ™‡šŸ» Father, thank You for giving mercy and grace in times of need, Heb 4:16, past and now in present. Though we may yet need grace to confess in the future, we rather prefer to be done with all future sin, and if there were a button to push representing that ability, we'd gladly do it without delay or hesitation... Yet since no such button exists, and the best of humans are still "humanity," we do are content with what we have, namely prescriptions for the humble remedy, and promises of not only cleansing, 1 Jn 1:9 but even contentment in Your presence, Heb 13:5, and promises of holiness, which we inherit by faith, Heb 4:2, even promises to do no wrong, 2 Cor 13:7, not stumble in what we say and control the whole body, James 3:2, even to walk as Jesus Himself, 1 Jn 2:6, 1 Jn 4:17. We continue the remedy of our misuse of the instrument we were given to glorify God and edify others, in confession and repentance, for sanctification both a one-time act and an ongoing work of participation with the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, Matt 3:8, Phil 2:12-13, 1 Tim 4:16, so we agree with Your admonition to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other that we may be healed, James 5:16 -- maybe that's how through boasting in our weaknesses 2 Cor 12:9 by faith from weaknesses we are made strong, Heb 11:32-34. So in obedience to Your teaching through Hosea, we, "Take words with you, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, 'Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips as bulls" Hos 14:2.

šŸ“ Lord, I've missed Your warnings, not hearkened to Your Spirit's leading, haven't taken the way of escape in every occurrence. I've dealt with things unrighteously, sinned and fallen short of Your glorious image, Rom 3:23, Gen 1:27, Matt 5:48, Eph 5:1. I've lacked love, have gotten "in the flesh," have said and typed things in with a mixture of emotions, even in anger, that even while true have either lacked love or forgotten the foundation of equality for the sake of Christ, Eph 5:21, maybe both or all of the following: I have done things mixed with pride and empty conceit, and in times of pain have said, spoken, typed, forwarded and done things to further my own interests or unrighteous emotions, rather than considering the interests of others, and lacked the attitude of Christ's humility that prefers my neighbor's advantage, and forgotten to treat others as more important than myself, Phil 2:3-5. Such actions and attitudes that display such mixture tainted with the anger of man do not achieve the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20. Therefore, not using my bodily members as instruments of righteousness consistently, I've been a man of unclean lips, Isa 6:5.

Since our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them, transgressing and denying Yahweh, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood, Isa 59:12-13, at time, "Surely I have spoken of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know, therefore I despise my sins, and I repent from them in dust and ashes," Job 42:3, Job 42:6. Yet though You've disciplined me severely, You haven't given me over to death, Ps 118:18. I can say with the Psalmist, "It was good for me to be afflicted that I might learn the way of Your Commands," Ps 119:71. Let me make the most of Your discipline, knowing it's end result has many ends in mind, sanctification being a chief one, Even Jesus being the author, ἀρχηγὸν, ultimate architect, pioneer and engineer of our salvation, perfected through suffering, Heb 2:10, on earth and in flesh, the proving ground of obedience, becoming the ultimate fountain of salvation, Heb 5:8-9. Surely, there is One found Worthy, Rev 5:9.

Though beyond human capacity to bear at times tribulation transfers every drop of hope to You alone who raise the dead, 2 Cor 1:8-9, produces patience leading to maturity that we may also be complete, James 1:2-3, and though not pleasant at present, afterward yields not only perseverance, proven character but an abiding hope that does not disappoint, even granting assurance through The Holy Spirit of Adoption, Rom 5:3-5. May trials yield a harvest of peaceful fruit and righteousness, Heb 12:11, even an everlasting quietness and confidence, Isa 32:17, an everlasting crown of life, James 1:12, and ability to reign with You, as You overcame and reign in truth, humility and justice, Ps 45:4, Rev 3:19-21, Rev 21:7. We ask for grace to renew our minds, Rom 12:2, to rejoice in all these things knowing we are presently blessed and understanding their end is eternal reward, Matt 5:10-12, and that Your Intention is to work it all together for good, Rom 8:28, because You are indeed Gracious and Compassionate, Ex 34:4-5, as we see You were with Job, James 1:12. Let us pray for others and others pray for us knowing You have brought us through trials before, You will do so again, and that prayers are powerful and effective, 2 Cor 1:10-11, especially when we confess our struggles and sins to one another and pray for each other, Your promise is the prayers are powerful and effective, James 5:15-16, even as Elijah's, James 5:17-18... Continued below while abiding in Jesus Christ and His Words, John 15:1-8, and His Life Giving Words of The Holy Spirit, John 6:63, His Name being the only Name given under heaven by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12, He being the One God and Mediator between God and Man, 1 Tim 2:5, in The Power of Attorney given by us His Position and Command, Mt 18:18, we ask in Jesus' Name, John 14:13-14.

We hear your heartfelt confession and cry for sanctification, and we stand with you in agreement before the throne of grace. Your words reflect a deep longing to walk in holiness and a recognition of the struggle against sin, a struggle every believer faces. The Scriptures you’ve cited reveal a soul that is not content with mediocrity but hungers for the fullness of Christ’s likeness. Let us lift this before the Lord together, addressing both the conviction and the hope you’ve expressed.

You acknowledge the power of God in weakness, as Paul declares in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." This is not a passive resignation to sin but an active reliance on Christ’s strength to overcome it. The tongue, as James 3:2-10 warns, is a restless evil, full of deadly poison, yet it is also an instrument meant to glorify God. Your confession of its misuse is the first step toward taming it, for "the one who guards his mouth preserves his life; the one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin" (Proverbs 13:3). We must speak as Christ spoke, with words seasoned with grace (Colossians 4:6), for "a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1). The Lord, who is gracious and compassionate (Zechariah 1:13), will teach us to speak in ways that heal rather than harm.

Your admission of pride, anger, and self-interest is a courageous act of humility. Philippians 2:3-5 exhorts us, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus." When we fail in this, we must repent, for "the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God" (James 1:20). Yet even in failure, there is hope, for "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). The Lord disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:6), not to crush us but to refine us, that we may share in His holiness (Hebrews 12:10).

You express a desire to be done with sin entirely, and we share that longing. Yet we live in a fallen world where temptation is real, and our flesh wars against the Spirit (Galatians 5:17). The apostle Paul himself cried out, "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Romans 7:24-25). The remedy is not a "button" to push but a daily surrender to Christ, "putting to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit" (Romans 8:13). Sanctification is both a one-time act of justification and an ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in us (Philippians 2:12-13). We must "take up the full armor of God" (Ephesians 6:11) and "fight the good fight of the faith" (1 Timothy 6:12), knowing that "he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:6).

You also recognize the purpose of trials: to produce perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-5), to yield a harvest of righteousness (Hebrews 12:11), and to conform us to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). Even in suffering, we can rejoice, for "our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all" (2 Corinthians 4:17). The Lord does not waste our pain; He uses it to shape us into vessels of honor (2 Timothy 2:21). As Job 42:5-6 declares, "My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes." Yet even in repentance, we find mercy, for "the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

Let us pray for you now, lifting these burdens before the Lord:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, who has poured out his heart in confession and repentance. We thank You for Your mercy, which is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), and for Your grace, which is sufficient for every weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Lord, we ask that You would cleanse him from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) and create in him a clean heart (Psalm 51:10). Tame his tongue, that he may speak words of life and not death (James 3:8-10), and fill him with the humility of Christ (Philippians 2:5-8). Where he has sinned in anger or pride, restore him and renew a steadfast spirit within him (Psalm 51:12).

Father, we pray that You would use every trial, every discipline, and every moment of weakness to draw him closer to You. Let him find strength in his weakness, knowing that Your power is perfected in it (2 Corinthians 12:9). Teach him to rejoice in suffering, for it produces perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-4). May he emerge from this season refined like gold (1 Peter 1:7), with a faith that is unshaken and a love that is pure.

Lord, we also pray for the relationships he has affected with his words and actions. Where he has sinned against others, grant him the courage to seek reconciliation (Matthew 5:23-24). Where he has spoken in anger or pride, give him the grace to humble himself and ask for forgiveness. Let his life be a testimony to Your transforming power, that others may see Christ in him (Galatians 2:20).

Finally, Father, we ask that You would seal these prayers with the blood of Jesus, for it is only through His name that we have access to You (John 14:6). Strengthen our brother in his walk with You, and let him know that he is not alone in this battle. Remind him that "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4), and that "He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it" (1 Thessalonians 5:24). We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue in this posture of repentance and dependence on Christ. The Christian life is not about perfection but about progress, daily taking up our cross and following Him (Luke 9:23). Surround yourself with fellow believers who can hold you accountable (James 5:16) and encourage you in your walk (Hebrews 10:24-25). Remember, "the righteous falls seven times and rises again" (Proverbs 24:16), and it is in rising that we grow stronger. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He who began this good work in you will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6). You are not defined by your failures but by Christ’s finished work on the cross. Walk in that truth, and let it transform every area of your life.

We hear the honest weariness in your words, the ache of repeated falls, the longing for a button to push and be done with it. That desire itself is a work of the Spirit, and we’re grateful for the humility behind your confession. You’re not alone in this battle, and the enemy would love to isolate you in shame. The remedy God gives, as you named, is not a solitary effort but the healing that comes through bringing things into the light with a trusted brother or sister who can pray with you and for you (James 5:16).

A next step that often helps is to identify one safe, mature person, someone who won’t be shocked or rush to fix you, but will simply listen and stand with you before the Lord. Confession breaks the secrecy that gives sin power, and it reminds us that our warfare is normal, shared. You don’t have to confess to everyone, just to one. And if angry words or pride keep surfacing, it’s worth noticing the primary feelings underneath (often hurt, frustration, or fear) and bringing those to God as well. He is gentle with our neediness.

We are praying with you now:

Father, thank You that You do not despise a broken and contrite heart. We lift up our friend who has honestly laid bare these struggles, words spoken in anger, pride, the mixture that falls short of love. You know the pain behind them and the sincere desire for change. Grant courage to take the next small step of confession to another trusted believer, and let that bring healing and fresh resolve. Quiet the inner accuser with Your mercy, and remind this dear one that sanctification is Your work, and You are faithful to complete it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

I perceive in your words the groanings of a soul truly humbled under a sense of sin, and I bless the Lord that He has not left you to be at ease in your transgressions. You are learning what it is to be emptied of all self-strength, and out of that very weakness the power of Christ shall be perfected. You write as one who has discovered the plague of his own heart, especially that unruly member, the tongue. But remember, it is the inestimable privilege of many a Christian to be strong in weakness when that weakness is of a sinful kind. Do not imagine that your name is cut out of the register because of the feebleness of your faith; there are many in heaven whose names on earth were Little-Faith, and Ready-to-Halt, and Much-Afraid.

You long for a button to push to be done with all future sin, yet no such button exists, for the Lord would have us walk by faith, moment by moment depending on His grace. But what a mercy that the will of God for your sanctification is accomplished in the offering of the body of Christ once for all! The Father joins in the verdict of His Son: it is finished. That perfect work must be applied to you by the Holy Spirit, and He will do it. Do not set about the work of sanctification as if you could perform it alone; for real sanctification is entirely from first to last the work of the Spirit of the blessed God. Yet He works in us through the truth, and you have been using that truth in your honest confession.

What you have written is a taking of words and turning to the Lord, a bringing of the calves of your lips. You have owned your transgressions, even that you have spoken things you did not understand, and you repent in dust and ashes. This is well, for there is no healing without uncovering the wound. The bones waxed old through David’s roaring all the day long while he kept silence; but when he acknowledged his sin, he found forgiveness. Yet I would caution you not to tarry in the gloom of unconfessed sin that remains; but having confessed, believe the promise of cleansing, and rise to walk in the light. Many trials are not sent as chastisements at all, but as preparations for higher usefulness. Every branch that bears fruit He purges, not because of offense, but because it is fruitful, that it may bring forth more fruit.

You speak of the anguish of having spoken in haste, of mixture of emotion, of lacking love. But do you not see how the Lord is turning your natural weakness into spiritual strength? The strength of God’s ministers often lies in the points where they are weakest. That unruly tongue, once mastered by grace, will become a weapon for the truth. The man overcome his weakness by faith, a holy faith gave him a holy courage, and the tongue once bound became unloosed. I advise you to try it. Boast not in yourself, but in the Lord; and out of your weakness you shall be made strong.

Trials that seem beyond human capacity are but the schoolmasters to transfer every drop of hope to the God who raises the dead. They produce patience, proven character, and an abiding hope that does not disappoint. The God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, will sanctify you wholly. Peace with God is yours through the atoning work, but for deep calm of heart and quiet of conscience there must be that inward work of sanctification by the power which raised Jesus. So I pray, and so you must pray, that the very God of peace would do this, that spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless.

Let your confession drive you not to despair, but to Christ. The serpent’s head is bruised by the Seed of the woman, and every battle with sin is a part of that war. Go, stand and speak to the people, to yourself first, and then to others, all the words of this life. Confess your struggles to trusted brethren, pray for one another, and you shall be healed. The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. Take courage, then. The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. He will not break the bruised reed, nor quench the smoking flax.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

What a struggle you lay bare, and how rightly you turn to the words of Scripture for medicine. You wish for a button to end all future sin, yet no such device exists because the Lord works in a far deeper way. He permits our very weaknesses to become the soil where His strength takes root. For He said, ā€œMy grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.ā€ Do not despise the thorn, then, nor the trial, for it drives you to cling solely to Him who raises the dead. The end of such discipline is a harvest of peaceful fruit and righteousness. He allows these things, not to destroy, but to perfect.

Yet you confess the misuse of the tongue, words spoken in anger, in pride, with a mixture of unholy emotion. The tongue is a hand that grasps the feet of God, but it can also become a fire. Strive now to speak only those words that are clearly Christ’s own. When reviled, bless; when offended, pray for the offender. This is to imitate the Master, whose words were always full of gentleness and meekness. Let your speech become precious, fit to edify others, for the one who brings forth what is precious from what is vile shall be as God’s mouth. Pray not only for the gift of a guarded tongue, but that your words may bear fruit for those who hear.

But let your repentance be no mere flood of tears without a changed heart. Esau sought it carefully with tears, yet found no place for it, because his grief was not true repentance. Tears are not enough if the will remains bent on its own way. True repentance hates the sin itself and cleaves to God with a new obedience. You have confessed; now rise and walk. Let the same power that raised Christ from the dead draw you ever forward.

Walk, then, with all lowliness and meekness, bearing with others in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Boast in your weaknesses, for when you are weak, then are you strong. The power is Christ’s, and He dwells in light unapproachable, yet stoops to make His home in the humble and contrite. Therefore, do not faint when you are rebuked of Him, but receive the discipline as a son. Pray with the understanding, confess to one another, and let the healing come. God is faithful, and He will do it.
