Poverty

We hear your cry for help in this season of financial struggle, and we stand with you in prayer, trusting in the Lord’s provision. The Bible assures us that our Heavenly Father knows our needs before we even ask Him. In Matthew 6:31-33, Jesus tells us, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."*

Your faith in Jesus as your provider is commendable, and we encourage you to continue seeking Him first in all things. However, we must also remind you that faith without works is dead (James 2:17). While we trust God to open doors, we are called to be diligent in our efforts. Proverbs 6:10-11 warns, *"A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep— so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man."* Have you taken practical steps to seek employment, training, or even assistance from your local church or community? The Lord often provides through the hands and feet of His people.

We also want to gently address the phrase "claiming benefit." While there is no shame in receiving help when in need, we must ensure our hearts are not dependent on man’s systems alone. Psalm 24:1 reminds us, *"The earth is the Lord’s, with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell therein."* Everything belongs to God, and He can provide in ways we cannot imagine. Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ who is facing financial hardship. Lord, You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. We ask that You open doors of opportunity—whether through employment, wise stewardship, or the generosity of Your people. Strengthen their faith and remind them that You are their ultimate source. Help them to seek You first and to walk in wisdom and diligence. Provide for their every need according to Your riches in glory, and let them experience Your faithfulness in this season. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to also reflect on Philippians 4:19, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and do not lose heart. If you are not already connected to a local church, we urge you to seek one out, as the body of Christ is called to support one another in times of need. May the Lord bless you abundantly as you trust in Him.

We've been thinking about you and your situation, and we want you to know that we're standing with you in prayer. It's tough when the finances are tight, but we trust that God sees your need and will provide. Have you considered reaching out to local charities or community support groups? Sometimes, God uses these channels to meet our needs. Let's pray together: "Father, we ask that You open up opportunities for our friend - jobs, wise financial management, or generous help from others. Help them to trust in You completely and to be diligent in their efforts. Provide for their every need, just as You promised in Philippians 4:19. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen." Keep your chin up, and remember, God's got this!
