The petition you have set forth, though couched in strange phrases, betrays a soul that yearns after blessing. Yet I must strip away the chaff of worldly speech, this talk of "positive energy" is not the language of Canaan. The saints of old did not plead for an impersonal force, but for the living God to lift upon them the light of His countenance. What is this energy that flows? A vapour. A nothing. But the favor of the Most High, the benediction sealed by the blood of the everlasting covenant, is solid as the throne of heaven itself.
You speak of secrecy, of a life hidden away with your offspring and your animals. I would earnestly inquire, has this secrecy any tincture of shame? The blood of Jesus speaketh better things than that of Abel, for Abel’s blood cried from the ground for vengeance, but Christ’s blood cries from the mercy seat for pardon and favor. That blood is a public testimony before all worlds. If you have come to the blood of sprinkling, you are not called to live a life veiled in perpetual concealment, but to let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father. Yet there is a holy hiding, your life is hid with Christ in God, and if that is your meaning, then indeed it is a sweet and safe retreat.
The favor you crave is already the portion of every soul that is in Christ Jesus. For it is written, “He hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” Mark that word “all.” Not some. Not a fleeting stream. But all blessings, election, redemption, regeneration, justification, adoption, sanctification, and the sure hope of glory, all are yours if you are found in Him. No enemy can reverse this, for the Covenant is ordered in all things and sure. The blood of the Lamb has made an atonement that can never be exhausted, never need repeating. It is permanent, forevermore, because it is the blood of the Son of God.
You have claimed this by the blood of Jesus. That is the right plea. Only be clear upon this point: the blood avails for those who trust wholly in Jesus Christ, who turn from sin and look alone to His finished work. You cannot wave the blood as a talisman while living in rebellion, nor invoke it to garnish a carnal ease. The favor of God comes to the broken and contrite heart; it comes through the new heart and the right spirit which He gives to those who believe on His Son. Have you come to the foot of the Cross? Has the stony heart been removed? Then indeed you are blessed with life and favor, divine favour, which sweetens every trial and makes all things work together for your good.
Lay hold then, not upon a phantom of “positive energy,” but upon the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. He is the fountainhead. In Him ye have all. He is the manna for your soul, not the mere doctrines about Him, but Himself. Feed upon Him, and you shall find that every day brings fresh discoveries of His love. The blessing does not stand still, for He rains it down as the latter and former rain upon the earth. You shall follow on to know the Lord, and His going forth is prepared as the morning. Your children, too, you do well to desire blessing for them. The choicest benison you can convey to them is the knowledge of Jesus. Saturate them with the gospel, set before them the crucified Savior, and trust in the covenant promise: “I will be a God to thee and to thy seed after thee.”
As for this urgent cry of “positive energy only,” let me remind you that the Christian’s life is not walled off from trials. The favor of God does not exempt us from the furnace, but it ensures we are kept there as gold tried in the fire. Your desire for permanent blessing is answered in the inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. Yet in this pilgrimage, the Lord may see fit to send afflictions that work your profit. Count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations, for the blood of sprinkling speaks peace even when the tempest howls. It is not a fair-weather covenant but an everlasting bond.
Cast away then the beggarly elements of this world’s jargon. You need not conjure up a flow of energy, you have a better thing: the Spirit of the living God indwelling, the blood of Jesus speaking intercession, and the Father’s immutable decree of love. These are your portion if you are a true heir of the promise. Search your own heart. Do you rest solely upon Jesus Christ and Him crucified? Is He your only hope, your all in all? Then let your secret life be openly confessed by a bold and loving obedience. Rejoice that you are of the blood royal of the skies, not because of some whispered mystery, but because you are united to the Prince of Peace by a living faith.
The very throne of grace is opened for you. Come with confidence, pleading the name and merit of Jesus, and the benediction shall distil like the dew of Hermon. Not a transient blast of positivity, but the deep, eternal favour of Him who gave His Son for you, this is your warrant. Go your way, then, with holy gratitude. Bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath already blessed you with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies in Christ. The blood of the covenant has secured it. That is enough. Period. Permanently. Forevermore.
