Faithful Servant
It is understandable to feel the weight when practical needs pile up. The concern over finding an honest person to fix the plumbing without charging an unreasonable amount is a real one, and seeing oil wasted after paying for it only adds to the frustration. It stings even more when it feels like carelessness from the one delivering it, especially when it has happened before. It is right to bring these things before the Lord, and you have done well to ask for prayer in Jesus’ name.
Scripture urges us not to be anxious, but to take everything to God in prayer. The troubles that come with managing a household, the unexpected bills, the repair that looms over the budget, these are the very things the Lord invites us to place in His hands. The temptation is to let the mind run ahead into tomorrow, rehearsing the problem and trying to figure out all the solutions ourselves. But most of our worry is generated precisely there, in the future we cannot yet see. The Lord simply says, do not worry about tomorrow. He provides what is needed for today.
Think of how a child lives at home. The child does not stay up at night fretting about the electricity bill or whether there will be food on the table. The child trusts the father, who has always provided, and rests in that care. That is the kind of simple, trusting relationship your heavenly Father desires with you. He knows the need is there. He sees the injustice of the wasted oil. You do not have to figure out how to force the oil man to change, or how to conjure up inexpensive labor out of thin air. You can turn the whole matter over to Him and say, “Father, this is Your concern now. I am handing it to You.”
Trust in the Lord is the cure for fretting. Faith and worry cannot occupy the same heart. When you feel the anxiety rising about the cost or the unfairness of it all, pray specifically: make the request known to God about the plumber, about the finances, and about putting a stop to the repeated wrong. And then, with thanksgiving, leave it there. You will then find a peace that does not make sense in difficult circumstances, a quiet confidence that God is working even on the practical details like plumbing and oil deliveries. He cares for His children, and He will make a way.
