We hear your frustration and concern, and we lift this situation before the Lord with heavy hearts. It’s painful when those who offer help with words fail to follow through with action, especially when the need is genuine. We understand the weight of caring for your mother and the desire for things to be handled properly, both in her home and in the body of Christ.

First, we want to affirm your trust in prayer. You are right to bring this before the Lord, for He is our ever-present help in times of need (Psalm 46:1). We pray that your grandson, though inexperienced, will be granted wisdom and steady hands as he attempts this task. May the Lord guide his steps and prevent any further damage or frustration. We ask that You, Father, give him clarity, patience, and success in this endeavor. If it is not Your will for this repair to be completed by him, we pray You would make that clear and provide another way, perhaps through a skilled professional who can assist at a reasonable cost.

We also lift up the disappointment you’ve experienced within the church. Scripture tells us, "Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you tells him, 'Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,' but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that?" (James 2:15-16). It is deeply troubling when believers say, "Let me know if you need anything," yet remain silent or absent when the need arises. This is not the love of Christ in action. We rebuke the spirit of passivity and indifference that has taken root in this situation. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), not just in word, but in deed. We pray for conviction and repentance among those who have failed to act, that they would be moved to genuine service rather than empty promises.

We also want to gently encourage you not to lose heart in seeking help. Proverbs 13:12 reminds us, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life." Your persistence in asking is not in vain. We pray that the Lord would open doors and raise up those who will respond with integrity and compassion. If the church has failed you, remember that God has not. He sees your labor of love and will reward your faithfulness (Hebrews 6:10).

Finally, we want to lift up your mother’s situation as a whole. Caring for aging parents is a sacred responsibility, and it can be overwhelming. We pray for strength, wisdom, and peace for you as you navigate these challenges. May the Lord provide the resources, support, and rest you need. And may your faith be strengthened as you trust in Him, even when others fall short.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who sees our needs and intercedes for us. We ask for Your hand of provision and protection over this situation. Guide the hands of this young man as he attempts to fix the plumbing, and let Your will be done in this matter. We rebuke the spirit of neglect and indifference that has taken hold among Your people, and we ask for a revival of true, sacrificial love within the body of Christ. Comfort this dear sister in her frustration, and remind her that You are her ever-present help. Provide for her mother’s needs, and surround them both with Your peace. Strengthen her faith as she continues to serve and trust in You. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We’re sorry you’ve felt ignored when you’ve reached out for help, that kind of silence can sting, especially when you’re just trying to care for your mom and your grandson is stepping up so willingly. It’s good to hear he’s willing to try, even though plumbing rarely stays simple once you’re under the sink. Your instinct to be cautious is wise.

If he hasn’t already, we’d gently suggest the two of you watch a couple of clear, how‑to videos together for the specific flush issue before he starts, sometimes seeing the steps laid out can save a lot of frustration and a wet floor. And if the repair looks at all beyond a basic fix, reaching out directly to one or two trusted people at church, by name and with a specific time, might break through the general silence better than a broad ask. But either way, we’re with you in prayer, that your grandson works safely, that the problem gets resolved, and that you sense God’s steady care even when people let you down.

Lord, thank you for this grandson’s willing heart. Give him patience and clear thinking as he works, and protect him from injury. We ask that the repair go smoothly, and that this family feels supported and seen. In Jesus’ name, amen.

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The trial of asking for help and meeting with silence cuts deep, and it reveals that which we have often feared, that the Church is not always in a healthy condition. We may see a great profession of love when there is no cost, but when a little self-sacrifice is required, how often the help promised vanishes like the morning mist. It is true that there are members of Christian Churches who are not what they once were. The Church needs fresh revivals, and part of that reviving is the awakening of sleepy church officers and members who dream good things but do them not. When God intends a man to do any special work for Him, He will find him all the helpers he needs. Sometimes those helpers may seem to be very unlikely persons, but, "Remember that Omnipotence
Has servants everywhere."

Be not, therefore, cast down utterly if the ones you thought would help have not. The Lord may yet send help from a quarter you looked not for. For your grandson who now undertakes the plumbing, it is well that you keep him in prayer. The simple things were simple to your brother because he had done them; to the untaught hand, they are not simple at all. Yet do not diminish your care in your own house by allowing anxiety to overcome faith. If the Lord can add the saved daily to His Church, He can surely guide a young man's hands to fix a flush. Let this be a small test of your own faith and a reminder of what the Church herself too often neglects. We must watch our own growth in Grace, our own communion with Christ, for if we do not, we shall be in great danger. The neglect of domestic piety and practical care will prevent the acceptance of your public service. I have long said that where sleepiness continues long, a Christian Church comes to be a positive nuisance. I speak plainly, for it is so when promises of help turn to the coldness of the ignored plea.

Yet think also on this. The Church as a whole needs revival in the persons of its members. The very ones who offered help so freely and then left you unanswered, they are the ones who most need to be prayed for. They say they need no revival, but they need a revival of humility, at any rate. For yourself, let this painful business drive you closer to the Master. He is the Man who never sleeps, who never breaks His word, and who hears the cry of the widow and the fatherless. Even when His visible Church proves reprobate silver in some of her dealings, Christ remains faithful. Join then the prayer for your grandson with a prayer for the Church herself, that she might awake, that she might arise from the dead, that Christ might give her light. A Holy Spirit Church is a joyful Church, a steadfast Church, one that does not forget any part of the Lord's will, including the bearing of one another's burdens. We have not yet seen the glorious Church, but we look for it. Until that day, may the Lord revive His work in the midst of the years, and in wrath remember mercy upon you and your mother’s house.
