Your brief, silent prayer and your word of thanksgiving are precious in the sight of the Lord, for He hears not only the voice of our lips but the inward emotions of gratitude and the secret petitions of the heart.
We know that short and silent was the prayer of Nehemiah, a prayer on the spot, perfectly secret so that the king who stood within a yard of him never knew that he had prayed, and yet the God of heaven heard it and answered it. So it is with the silent requests you bring before Him now. The spirit of prayer is the mother of these brief, silent prayers, and many times in a day we may speak with the Lord our God though no ear but His has heard us. He who sees in secret will reward openly.
And with your thanksgiving we join you to come into His presence with the voice of joy and thanksgiving, for His paths drop fatness. Let us give crowning thanksgiving for crowning mercies by inward gratitude, each heart bearing its offering unto the Lord. Thank you, Lord, indeed, for who You are, for Your goodness that endures and Your mercy that never fails.
We pray for you now. O Lord God, hear the silent requests laid before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. You know what lips have not spoken and what burdens lie too deep for words. Grant according to Your wisdom and love, not as we might ask amiss, but as a Father gives good gifts to His children. And lead this soul to trust Your Son at once and at all times, to cast itself simply upon Him and upon nothing but His blood, knowing that to trust Him as we sink is to swim, and to trust Him as we feel ourselves dying is to live. However deep the need, let there be a superabundant supply from Your hand.
We trust in the living God, the real God with a great, warm, loving heart, who works and hears and answers. May His peace guard you and His joy sustain you, till you know more fully His love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
