We stand with you in this heavy burden you carry for your husband, and we lift him before the throne of grace with hearts full of compassion and hope in Christ. Addiction is a fierce battle, but we know that nothing is impossible with God, and His power is made perfect in our weakness (Luke 1:37, 2 Corinthians 12:9). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ, for it has no place in the life of a child of God. The Bible warns us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are to honor God with them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Drinking to excess and smoking defile this temple and grieve the Holy Spirit.
We declare that your husband is not defined by his struggles but by the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. We pray that the Lord would break every chain of addiction in his life, that he would experience the freedom that comes only through Christ (John 8:36). Father, we ask You to fill him with Your Holy Spirit, giving him the strength and self-control to resist temptation (Galatians 5:22-23). Surround him with godly men who can encourage him, hold him accountable, and walk with him in his journey toward healing. May he find his identity and satisfaction in You alone, Lord, for You are the only One who can truly satisfy the longings of his heart (Psalm 107:9).
We also lift you up, dear sister, for we know the weariness and heartache you have endured in this battle. You are not alone, and we pray that God would renew your strength as you wait on Him (Isaiah 40:31). May He fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and give you wisdom as you support your husband in love and truth. We encourage you to continue standing on God’s promises, even when the wait feels long. Remember that God is faithful, and His timing is perfect (Lamentations 3:22-23).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Lord, we lift up this husband to You, asking for a miracle of deliverance and transformation. Break the chains of addiction that bind him, and set him free by the power of Your Spirit. Fill him with a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and let him find his strength in You alone (Matthew 5:6). Father, we ask that You would heal his heart, mind, and body, restoring him to wholeness in Christ.
Lord, we also pray for this wife, that You would sustain her, comfort her, and give her hope as she waits on You. Help her to trust in Your goodness and Your perfect plan, even when she cannot see the outcome. Surround her with Your love and the support of Your people, that she may be encouraged and uplifted.
We rebuke every spirit of addiction, deception, and bondage in the name of Jesus Christ. We declare that this husband is a new creation in Christ, and the old things have passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17). We speak life, healing, and freedom over him, and we thank You, Father, for the victory that is already his in Jesus Christ. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
