pls pray that the repairs for my property goes smoothly. That it is easy to uninstall and reinstall the cabinet and the plumbing is also simple to do. Pls pray that i find someone to paint my unit at an ecomonimcal price but does well and that the carpet and wood repair goes through smoothly and that other minor repairs are completed in a timely manner, done well but that i pay a good price for it--i am not overcharged. Pls pray that i find a tenant who is responsible and respectful to my unit. No smoking, not pets, no drugs, no destruction. Good credit and that they pay in full and on time each month. Preferably a grad student. Thank you.

We ask that You bring someone who will pay on time, maintain the unit well, and honor the guidelines you’ve set, no smoking, no pets, no drugs, and no destruction. May this tenant have good credit and a sense of responsibility, perhaps even a graduate student who values a peaceful and well-kept home. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, nor turning shadow" (James 1:17). Your petition has been lifted up, yet let thy heart be stayed on the Lord, for this property and its repairs are not thine own but entrusted to thee as a steward. It is required in stewards that a man be found faithful, and faithfulness here will seek honest workmen, a fair price, and a tenant of good character, yet not with anxious grasping, but with hands open to the will of thy Master. The house is His; He may enter and inspect it at any hour, and one day He will call thee to give an account. Therefore, pray for a smooth uninstalling and reinstalling of the cabinet, for simple plumbing, for a painter both economical and diligent, for carpet and wood to be mended without vexation, but let thy trust be in Him who ordereth all things, not in the ease of the task. Whether the way be rough or smooth, keep His way; if the repairs prove troublesome, bless Him still, for the sleet and the fair weather alike come from His hand.

Beware of covetousness creeping in when thou seekest a low price, lest thou envy another’s lower quote or harbor suspicion of being overcharged. The Lord’s promise is not hedged about for one alone; if thou art of like character and in like case, take His Word to thyself: “Be content with such things as ye have, for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” As for the tenant, a graduate student who payeth in full and on time, who smokes not nor keepeth pets nor defiles the place with drugs or destruction, such a one is a gift from God. Yet remember, the true Landlord watcheth over the dwelling, and He can bring the right soul to inhabit it, one who will leave the property unhurt. Set thine house in order, not only the beams and the floors, but the spiritual house of thine own soul, for thou art a tenant of a hovel for a day, but heir of the universe forever. May thy life be such that it shall be a fair mould for thy child’s future existence, and may the repairs in thy heart outshine those of the unit. You ask for prayer about your property, its repairs, and a suitable tenant. These are small matters when set beside eternity. Why do you fix your heart so intently on plaster, paint, and plumbing? Consider the tenant who already occupies your soul: the Holy Spirit. Have you given that dwelling as much care? You seek an economical painter, yet you neglect to adorn the inner man with the colors of virtue. You want a tenant who will pay on time and not destroy the unit, but you yourself are a tenant in this world for a few years at most. How will you present your account when the true Lord returns to inspect?

Our goods here are not our own; they are a loan for use. The only possessions you take with you are the alms and mercies you send ahead. If you store up treasure in heaven, no moth or rust can harm it, and your heart will be there also. But if you spend your strength fretting over wood and carpets, you become like a child playing with toys while neglecting your lessons. Do not crawl on the earth, priding yourself on stones and stocks.

I exhort you as a watchman over souls: turn these cares into occasions for virtue. While attending to your property, do not let your heart grow dull with worldly anxiety. Be just in your dealings, pay fairly, and do not exploit anyone for a cheap price. As for the tenant, seek a person of sober life, yes, but remember that even a grad student with good credit may have a soul perishing for want of the Gospel. Instead of merely listing prohibitions, no smoking, no pets, no drugs, look higher. Be a candle set on a stand, letting your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Do not cast the whole responsibility for your soul upon me. I give warning and proclaim publicly: if you cling to these passing things as if they were your true security, you deceive yourself. The rich man in the parable thought his barns would last, but that night his soul was required. I am pure of your blood if I have spoken. Now endeavor to become a man in Christ, raising your eyes to the riches above. Smile at gold; it is mere dust. Use it well while you have it, that when you leave your house behind, the eternal mansions may receive you.

It is wise to bring these practical needs before the Lord, because he cares about the details of our lives. As you look for workers and a tenant, you are acting with the responsibility God gave you from the beginning, to steward what he has placed in your hands. That is good and right. You have a choice in whom you hire and whom you approve to live in your unit, and Scripture shows us that choices matter. Don’t be thrown off by the pressure to cut corners or to settle for someone who seems desirable only on the surface. A fair appearance or a cheap price can sometimes mask a hidden cost, just as Eve saw that the fruit was pleasing to the eye but missed the weight of God’s warning. Take the time to look deeper: Does this painter have integrity? Does this applicant carry the marks of responsibility and honesty? A graduate student may look ideal on paper, but the real question is character, someone who will pay in full and on time, and treat your property with respect.

When the unexpected happens during repairs, or when the search takes longer than you hoped, a familiar temptation will slip in quietly: Is God really being fair? Does he actually want this to go well, or is he holding back something good from me? That thought did not begin with you; it is the old serpent’s voice, always questioning the goodness of God’s commands and his timing. But God’s provision is never stingy or cruel. He knows your needs, down to the plumbing and the carpet. Trust that his ways are just, even when a quote seems too high or a repair becomes complicated. He is not trying to protect himself at your expense; he is shaping your dependence on him through every step.

I do pray with you for these things: for smooth removal and reinstallation of the cabinet, for straightforward plumbing work, for a painter who does quality work at a reasonable price, and for carpet and wood repairs to proceed without delay. I ask the Lord to bring a tenant of sound character, no smoking, no pets, no drugs, no destruction, someone with good credit who pays fully and on time. And I ask for your own heart to rest in the fairness of God, whose provision is never late and never short. Do your part with diligence, and then leave the outcome to him.
