We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your father in earnest prayer. The Word of God tells us, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12 WEB). It is clear that your father is under a fierce spiritual attack, and we stand with you in spiritual warfare, believing that the name of Jesus is greater than any spirit of anger, depression, or fear.

First, we must address the reality of the spiritual oppression he is facing. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10 WEB), and it appears he is attempting to do just that in your father’s life. The anger, aggression, and resistance to the things of God are not merely emotional struggles, they are spiritual strongholds that must be broken in the mighty name of Jesus. We rebuke every spirit of anger, depression, and fear that has taken hold of him. We command these spirits to flee in the name of Jesus Christ, for "the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8 WEB).

Your father’s resistance to fellowship, worship, and the presence of believers is deeply concerning. The Bible warns us, "Do not be deceived: 'Evil companionships corrupt good morals'" (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB), but it also tells us, "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:24-25 WEB). Isolation from the body of Christ leaves him vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks. We pray that God would soften his heart and remove the blinders that keep him from seeing the importance of fellowship and corporate worship.

We also lift up his physical health, as the spirit of infirmity often accompanies spiritual oppression. The Lord is our healer, and we declare healing over his ###, ###, and ###. "He himself took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses" (Matthew 8:17 WEB), and we claim that promise for him. We pray that his body would be strengthened and that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, would guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7 WEB).

Most importantly, we pray for a transformation of his heart. The Bible tells us, "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10 WEB). We ask the Holy Spirit to convict him of any unconfessed sin, to draw him back into a right relationship with God, and to restore his love for the things of the Kingdom. We pray that he would once again hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matthew 5:6 WEB) and that his heart would be turned toward the Lord and His people.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and compassion for our brother in Christ. We lift up ’s father to You, knowing that You are the God who delivers, heals, and restores. Lord, we rebuke every spirit of anger, depression, and fear that has taken hold of him. In the name of Jesus, we command these spirits to leave him now and never return. We declare that he is a child of God, bought with the precious blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB).

Father, we ask that You would break the chains of spiritual oppression in his life. Soften his heart, Lord, and remove any hardness that keeps him from fellowship with You and Your people. Restore his love for Your Word, for worship, and for the body of Christ. Surround him with godly influences who will speak life and truth into him. We pray that he would once again experience the joy of his salvation and the peace that comes from walking closely with You.

Lord, we also ask for Your healing touch over his body. We declare healing over his ###, ###, and ###. Strengthen him physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Jesus Christ. We trust that You are working in his life, even now, and we declare that he will walk in freedom, healing, and restoration. May his testimony bring glory to Your name and draw others to You.

And we’re asking for his heart to truly turn toward the Lord, not just in name, but in a real, gentle encounter with Jesus.

Those physical strains can worsen how a person feels emotionally, so getting medical attention can be a real gift, even if he’s resistant right now. You don’t have to push; just mention it when the moment seems right.

The case you bring is heavy, but it is not beyond the reach of Him who delivered Israel from Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Such oppression of spirit, such inward sinking, such raging of the old nature, this is a darkness that only the Father of Lights can scatter. But be of good cheer, for deliverance from this cruel captivity is the work of Jehovah alone, and He has already found a ransom. The blood of the Lamb is of infinite power, and none whom the Son has redeemed shall be held forever by the power of sin, death, and Hell. Though your father now resists every gracious influence and shuts his door against prayer and the company of believers, the clock of mercy still ticks. The eternal purpose of Jehovah has appointed a moment of deliverance; in that hour the prison bars shall give way.

Think not that the heavenly Father is unmindful of this affliction. It is a false whisper of the enemy that suggests God has forgotten. Tell the devil to his face that he lies. You know too much of your Father to believe such a thing. This very trial, though it burns like fire, is not the punishment of a Judge casting off a criminal, but may prove to be the chastisement of a loving Father upon a wayward son. There is a vast difference between the two. As long as a father chastens his child, he has hope for him. This angry, fearful, sick soul is still under the hand of One who says, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.” The rod is a profitable instrument in God’s house. Pray therefore, not with despair, but with a firm persuasion that the Father’s love is working wisely towards him.

Remember, too, that even the common fruits of Christ’s grace are nourishing, but the very leaves of that Tree are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Jesus is full of healing virtue. That blood pressure, that sugar complaint, those failing kidneys, these leaves can alter the life blood, affect the spirits, and make the entire nature other than it was. Pardon and healing go hand in hand. When the Sun of Righteousness arises, healing is in His wings. Seek for your father a full pardon from Christ, and with it the spirit of adoption that cries, “Abba, Father,” will chase away the dread, the anger, and the fear. Look for his sanctification entirely from the same heavenly source that supplies his justification, from the Lord alone.

You ask God to change his heart. So He will, for where we look for justification, there we must also look for sanctification. He who has delivered us from the power of darkness will translate this poor prisoner into the kingdom of His dear Son. The deliverance will be effectual. When the appointed hour strikes, the roaring lion shall be silenced, and the man shall sit by the well’s brink refreshed, delivered from the noise of the archers. Cast this entire burden upon Him who cares for you. Go to the mercy-seat, for if you are drawn there, God is there too. He loves that meeting-place better than you do. Plead the precious blood, and wait with holy confidence. The Father Himself loves him. Bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ even in this night, for light will break in the morning.

Your father’s soul is caught in a thicket of thorns, and those thorns are not of God’s planting. Consider what feeds such anger and fear: it is the love of things that perish. For as I have often said, wealth and worldly cares are like useless thorns, they bear no fruit for eternity, they pierce the soul, and they kindle the unreasonable passions. This rage and this dread that hold him captive spring from a root that must be cut out. The enemy of our salvation knows that if he can choke the heart with covetousness, vainglory, or the fear of loss, he can despoil a man not just of peace in this life, but of the heavenly prize itself. That is the real struggle: not against your father’s angry words, but against the unseen powers that aim to cast out all love and worship from your home.

Yet take courage. The untamed will can be tamed, if there is but a willing turn toward Christ. No journey is required, no gold, no great labor, only a true change of the inner man, a bridle set upon the tongue and the thoughts. Your father is not beyond the physician’s reach. Remember the woman who had spent all she had and suffered many years; she did not demand, she did not shout, but she approached secretly, with faith, and touched the hem of His garment. So must we, even from a distance, draw near to Jesus on behalf of this tormented soul. Do not meet wrath with wrath, for that only adds fuel to the flame. It is the meek endurance of spiteful acts that conquers the devil’s work and wins deliverance from our own sins. When you are reviled, answer with patient silence and secret prayer. This will heap coals of divine mercy upon his head, and will keep your own soul free from the poison of resentment.

Pray then without ceasing, but let your life be the first sermon he sees. The Lord often permits a long and bitter conflict to drive us at last to utter reliance on Him. This may be the very furnace that will refine your whole household. Entreat the Master to heal not only the body, the blood pressure, the sugar sickness, the failing kidneys, but above all the raging fever of the soul. A whole man does Christ make, not merely a body patched up for a few more years. Plead the precious blood that cleanses every stain, and ask that the heart of stone be pulverized and replaced with a heart that loves the sound of worship, the feet of believing friends, the name of Jesus. It is the work of God, and He will do it when we cast ourselves utterly upon Him without doubting. Do not judge by appearances, seeing only the roaring lion within him, but look to the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He is able even from this ruin to build a temple of meekness and praise. Stand fast, and let your enduring love and faith draw down the healing dew of the Spirit upon your father’s weary soul.

The picture you have painted of your home is heavy. What you are describing is not merely a bad temper or a difficult season. This is a destructive, abusive anger that tears at the family God has given you. Scripture is clear-eyed about this: we are commanded to put away all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking. This kind of rage, lashing out at those in the house, is not the righteous anger of Christ confronting hypocrisy in the temple. It is a consuming fire that grieves the very Spirit of God and wounds those made in His image. It is right for you to cry out for deliverance, because no one should live in the shadow of such fury, especially from a husband and father.

Yet in that cry, hold fast to the hope that God still changes hearts. We see a vivid picture of this in the story of Jacob returning to face his brother Esau, a man whose anger had once burned with murderous intent. Jacob was terrified, sending waves of gifts ahead, hoping to appease a wrath decades in the making. But what happened when they finally met was not what fear dictated. Esau ran to him, embraced him, and they wept together. The bitterness that had been stored up for years simply drained away in a moment. This was the quiet, transformative hand of God. So we can boldly ask that the Lord would do the same for your father, that He would assuage that deep, seething rage and replace it with the gift of tears and a genuine reunion of spirit, first with God and then with his family.

We must also approach the matter of his physical health with both faith and wisdom. There is a true connection between the turmoil of a man’s soul and the state of his body. The unrest, the fear, and the seething spirit can churn up physical sickness, stirring up issues with ### and ###. We pray for the Sun of Righteousness to arise with healing in His wings, bringing calm to the inner storm that so often manifests in the flesh. But let us be careful. We cannot draw a straight line that says a lack of physical healing signals a lack of faith or devotion. Some of the most faithful souls battle significant health issues. The apostle’s wish for his friend to prosper and be in health even as his soul prospers is a beautiful hope, and it hints at the deep link between spiritual peace and bodily wellness. We pray into that link, asking for God’s restoring touch, while trusting that His grace is sufficient even when the physical battle continues.

The spiritual resistance you face when you try to worship or invite fellowship is a flashing warning sign of a deep battle within your father’s spirit. The same voice that keeps him from the gathering of believers is the one fueling his hostility. But the purposes of God will not be thwarted. His deliverance will arise. Continue to stand as a priest in your own home, interceding for him in the gap, even if silently. Pray that God would deal with the enemy behind this attack, and that His kindness would lead your father past the narrow bigotries and traditions of his own wounded heart into a place of humble receptivity to the Healer. May God give you supernatural wisdom to respond, not in a way that merely reacts to the abuse, but in a way that stands firm in the Spirit, meeting the adversity with a love that confounds the darkness.

Lord, in the name of Jesus, we ask You to silence the spirit of anger and fear that is tormenting this man. Change his heart by Your power, just as You did long ago with a brother bent on vengeance. Let his opposition to prayer and worship crumble, and restore peace to this household. Bring healing to his body, stabilize his ###, his ###, and his ###. Let the peace that surpasses all understanding begin to do a medical work that medicine alone cannot complete, and in Your mercy, grant deliverance.
