Spurgeon
Beloved of All
Seven years of this cruel harassment, the Lord knows your weariness, and He has not been deaf to your cries. The enemy, like that malicious devil, always seeks to strike when the soul is down, but you are not beyond the reach of the Deliverer. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even in this dark world of sin. Fix your mind now upon the Lord, for He has promised to keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him. Peace, peace, gleaming with a heavenly light, can be yours, even with this sorrow surging round. Bear this burden with Christ, and you will find that to do His will is rest.
I plead with you not to let the dark thought prevail that God’s ear is shut. That arrow is a lie of the pit. He who delivered Paul from the power of darkness will bring you forth, for deliverance from guilt and from the depression of sin are alike the work of His free grace. When the time appointed of mercy strikes, He will move you out swiftly, perhaps suddenly, and you shall say, “He brought me forth.” I am praying that you will be anointed with fresh oil right now. The oil of joy for mourning, the oil of strength for exhaustion. You shall not die in this Egyptian bondage, but live, and declare the works of the Lord! This trial, heavy as it is, shall become a song of deliverance, and you will not be able to hold your peace. Wait upon the Lord, cling to the ransom found in Christ, and in every fresh attack, look for fresh grace. Your fresh start is coming; the Lord’s deliverance shall be effectual. Hold your peace, and He shall teach you wisdom until that hour.
