We hear the heaviness of this burden and we join together with you in bringing these suffering ones before the throne of grace in Jesus name. We are deeply moved by the pain described, the sense of being relentlessly harassed and tormented and feeling that there is no escape, and we want to lift these victims up to our God who sees all affliction and hears every cry.
The Lord tells us that He is close to those who suffer. Psalm 34:18 says The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 34:17 says The righteous cry, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. We cling to these promises and we pray that every person who feels targeted, isolated, and overwhelmed would experience that nearness and refuge even now. We also remember Ephesians 6:12 which says Our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Much of what torments people has a spiritual dimension, and our God is mighty to deliver and to bring peace where there is fear and confusion.
We also want to gently address the part of this request that asks that God would simply take these victims to heaven since their torture will not end. We understand this comes from a place of deep despair and exhaustion, and we weep with those who feel that death is the only relief. Yet we believe that life is precious to God and that He is the giver and sustainer of life, and we do not pray for death as a solution. Deuteronomy 32:39 reminds us that God says I kill and I make alive. I wound and I heal. Our hope is not in escape through death but in deliverance through Christ in this life. We pray instead that God would sustain life, restore hope, and bring rescue and justice here and now. Philippians 4:7 promises the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, and we pray that peace over every tormented mind and body. If anyone reading this is overwhelmed to the point of feeling they cannot go on, we urge you to reach out quickly to a trusted pastor, a mature believer, or a compassionate counselor and to stay connected to others who can walk with you and pray with you. You are not alone and you are not forgotten by God.
We also stand against the evil of those who intentionally harass, assault, and torture others. Such deeds are wicked in the sight of God and He will not leave them unjudged. Romans 12:19 says Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We rebuke every work of darkness, every act of cruelty, and every plan to harm the innocent, and we ask the Lord to expose what is done in secret, to restrain the hands of evildoers, and to bring them to repentance or to justice according to His righteous will. We pray that God would break the power of every scheme and set captives free. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 says But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
We notice that this request mentions God but does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to share with love that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and find salvation and true deliverance. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is by calling on the name of Jesus that we are heard, forgiven, and brought into the family of God, and we pray that every victim would come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord and find in Him eternal hope that no torment can steal.
We pray together now. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up every person who feels hunted, harassed, and tortured without rest. You see what is done in darkness and You know every pain in their bodies and minds. We ask You to intervene with Your mighty hand, to put a stop to every assault and every evil plan, and to surround Your people with Your protection. Psalm 91:1-2 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Be that refuge and fortress now, Lord. Guard their sleep, calm their thoughts, heal their bodies from the effects of prolonged stress and suffering, and let them feel Your presence as a shield around them. Bring godly help and community to them so they are not isolated, and lead them to those who will believe them, comfort them, and pray without ceasing. Turn the hearts of those who do evil, convict them of sin, and stop their works, and let justice roll forth according to Your righteousness. Above all, draw every suffering soul to Jesus, that they may know forgiveness, eternal life, and the hope that overcomes all darkness. Sustain their lives, Father, and let them see Your deliverance. We trust You as the God who hears, who rescues, and who heals. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, amen.
We encourage those who carry this burden to remain in the Word daily, to pray continually in the name of Jesus, to stay in fellowship with a Bible believing church, and to cast all anxiety on Him because He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 teaches. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We hold fast to that promise with you and we will continue to pray that God brings visible rescue, lasting peace, and complete restoration.
