Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and we join with you in bringing it before God in the name of Jesus Christ. It is good and right that you desire to remain with your wife, to keep your family together, and to look back in two years giving thanks to God that you stayed faithful to the covenant you made.
Marriage is a bond ordained by God and it is honorable. It is meant to preserve holiness and to keep husband and wife in chaste and faithful love, not permitting any defilement of what God has joined together. Scripture says, Art thou bound unto a wife, seek not to be loosed. Your desire not to be loosed but to remain bound in love and peace is according to God’s will, and we pray God will strengthen you in it.
We pray also for trust to be rebuilt. Trust is restored slowly through steady faithfulness, through love that is offered not only for your wife’s sake but as unto the Lord, and through a life that gives no cause for suspicion. Love your wife as your own flesh, care for her honor and peace, and let her see in your daily walk a reverence for God and a commitment to purity and truth. Follow peace with all men and holiness, and let your home be ordered by patience, kindness, and the fear of God. Do not listen to slander and do not give room for jealousy to grow, but let your words and actions be open, gentle, and consistent so that confidence can grow again.
We pray for your children as well, that you and your wife together may say, Behold I and the children which God hath given me, and that your household may be governed with love and steadiness. May God guard your marriage and your children, keep you from temptation, and teach you both to forgive and to bear with one another in love.
Let us pray. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, through whom alone is salvation, we ask you to keep this husband and wife together. Have mercy on them, heal what has been broken, and help this husband to walk faithfully and purely with his wife. Give his wife grace to see his faithfulness and to trust again. Keep their children in your care and make their home a place of peace. Grant that two years from now they may look back together and thank you for your sustaining grace, for keeping their covenant unbroken, and for making their marriage stronger. Establish them in love that endures, and help them to live for your glory. Amen.
