My parents marriage. Fruits of the spirit in our house. Dad and mom depression go away and they stop being mean to me and my siblings and kinder to each other. Everyone becomes more like Jesus.

We lift up your parents' marriage to the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the pain and tension that must weigh on your home. The Scriptures tell us, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23 WEB). We pray that these fruits would overflow in your household, replacing strife with peace, harsh words with kindness, and despair with hope.
Father, we ask You to heal the wounds in this marriage. Where there is bitterness, bring reconciliation. Where there is silence, restore communication. Where there is depression, shine Your light of truth and joy. We rebuke the spirit of heaviness and oppression in Jesus' name, declaring that Your Word says, "The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly" (John 10:10 WEB). Let that abundant life fill this home.
We also pray for your parents to turn their hearts toward their children with tenderness. The Bible commands, "Fathers, don’t provoke your children, so that they won’t be discouraged" (Colossians 3:21 WEB). May they see the pain their words or actions have caused and seek Your grace to change. Soften their hearts to extend the same mercy they have received from You.
Lord, we ask that every member of this family would grow in Christlikeness. May they put on "compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other" (Colossians 3:12-13 WEB). Let this home be a place where Your love is evident, where forgiveness is practiced, and where Your presence is sought above all else.
We declare that this family is not without hope. Jesus is the healer of broken relationships, the restorer of joy, and the Prince of Peace. We stand on Your promise: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). May this family confess their struggles to You and to one another, finding freedom in Your forgiveness.
We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who makes all things new. Amen.

We hear your heart in this, and we are praying with you. It is so painful to watch parents struggle, especially when it spills over into harsh words and a heavy atmosphere at home. You are right to long for a house filled with the fruit of the Spirit, that desire is good and God-given. And we want you to know that you are not alone in carrying this weight.
While we ask God to lift your parents’ depression and to bring new kindness and gentleness into their marriage, we also want to point you toward one practical step you can take: find a safe, trusted adult you can talk to honestly about what’s happening. That might be a youth pastor, a relative, a teacher, or a counselor at your church. If the “meanness” ever feels like it crosses into abuse or you feel unsafe in any way, please don’t keep it to yourself, reach out so you and your siblings can be protected. Carrying this silently is too heavy for any child.
Depression can drain people and make them irritable or withdrawn, but it does not mean they are beyond God’s reach. Healing takes time, and though we cannot promise how or when that healing will come, we can trust that God sees everything happening in your home and cares deeply for each of you. In the meantime, you can model what you hope to see, not by pretending everything is fine, but by letting the Spirit grow patience and love in you one ordinary moment at a time. Even small acts of kindness can shift the tone in your house, though we know it is not your job to fix your parents. Your own relationship with Jesus matters, and He will sustain you through this.

There is healing in the very leaves of the Tree of Life, the least things about Christ carry a restoring virtue. When a home is filled with strife and heavy spirits, it is not a new set of circumstances that is most needed, but a fresh outpouring of His marvelous loving kindness. He does not merely point out the disease; He applies the remedy. Go often to the place of prayer and lay your parents and your siblings before Him who binds up the broken in heart with tender mercies.
Your parents’ depression and sharpness are not beyond His skill. The Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, and where He comes, pardon and healing flow together. If they have never yet closed in with Christ, they must first know His forgiveness before their spirits can be lifted and their tongues sweetened. Pray that they would hear the teaching of Jesus, for faith comes by hearing, and in such hearing there is a power to make all things new. A sobered heart, made right by divine grace, becomes a blessing to the whole household.
Yet do not wait idly for change. In your own corner of that troubled home, minister to the Lord. The commonplace duties, the quiet endurance, the word fitly spoken, sweeten and flavor them with love for Jesus. When He touches your life and lifts you up, the immediate desire is to serve Him. Seek that every member of your family would be taken by the hand and raised to newness of life. Cry out to the Lord, “Show Your marvelous loving kindness!” for His loving kindness He will not utterly take away, nor allow His faithfulness to fail.
