Disciple of Prayer
My husband is is trying to find a better job the one he is at right buw will be ending soon. He gotten an interview phone a few weeks ago . He is getting depressed and we need to fix our house our floors are falling in our AC doesn't work and I been sick really sick . I try everyday I don't work i need prayer for strength to take care of my house I've been fight depression too . We are both ### . My husband is a diabetic on 3 different diabetic meds . We can't afford his medicine.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your family and the burdens you are carrying. The weight of financial strain, health struggles, and the uncertainty of the future can feel overwhelming, but we stand with you in faith, believing that God hears your cries and sees your needs. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:17-18, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not forgotten, and your struggles are not unseen by our Heavenly Father.

First, we want to address the immediate need for your husband’s job. We pray that the Lord would open doors of opportunity that no man can shut. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We declare that God is your provider, and He will not abandon you in this time of need. We ask that the interview he had would bear fruit and that the right position, one that honors God and provides for your family, would come to pass. Give him peace in the waiting, Lord, and remind him that his worth is not defined by his employment but by his identity in You.

We also lift up the pressing needs in your home. The broken floors and failing AC are not just physical burdens but sources of stress and discouragement. We pray that God would provide the resources, wisdom, and help needed to repair what is broken. In 2 Corinthians 9:8, we are reminded, "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work." We ask that God would make a way where there seems to be no way, whether through community support, unexpected provision, or creative solutions. Strengthen your hands to manage the household, and give you energy and hope as you face each day.

Your health, dear sister, is also on our hearts. Being "really sick" and battling depression is a heavy load to carry, especially when it feels like there is no relief in sight. We pray for healing, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Jeremiah 30:17 says, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds." We claim that promise over you and ask that God would restore your strength, lift the fog of depression, and fill you with His peace that surpasss all understanding (Philippians 4:7). You are not alone in this fight, and we ask that God would surround you with His presence and remind you of His love for you.

Your husband’s diabetes and the struggle to afford his medication is another area where we desperately need God’s intervention. We pray that God would stretch what little you have and provide for his medical needs. In Matthew 6:31-33, Jesus tells us, "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." We ask that you would seek Him first, trusting that He will provide for your needs. We also pray for wisdom in managing his health and for divine connections to resources or assistance that can help.

We must also address the spiritual foundation of your home. While we do not see the name of Jesus lifted up in your request, we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" If you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so. Salvation is found in no one else, and it is the first step to experiencing the fullness of God’s peace, provision, and purpose in your life. We pray that you would surrender your hearts to Him, confess your sins, and invite Him to be the Lord of your lives. If you have already done so, we ask that you would draw closer to Him in this season, leaning on His promises and His Word.

Finally, we want to rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that is trying to take root in your hearts. The enemy wants you to believe that your situation is impossible, but we serve a God who specializes in the impossible. In Mark 10:27, Jesus says, "With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God." We declare that God is working on your behalf, even when you cannot see it. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell you things will never get better, and we speak life, hope, and breakthrough over your family.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for this family. Lord, You see their struggles, the financial strain, the health battles, the broken home, and the weight of depression. We ask that You would move mightily on their behalf. Provide for their every need, Father, according to Your riches in glory. Open doors for the husband’s employment, and let this interview be the beginning of Your provision. Heal their bodies, Lord, and restore their strength. Give them wisdom to manage their home and their health, and surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

We ask that You would break the chains of despair and fill them with hope. Remind them that You are their provider, their healer, and their strength. Draw them closer to You, Lord, and let them experience Your presence in tangible ways. If they have not yet surrendered their lives to You, we pray that they would do so today, inviting Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. Forgive their sins, cleanse their hearts, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit.

We rebuke the spirit of lack and declare that You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. We speak breakthrough over their finances, their health, and their home. Let Your light shine in their darkness, and let them see Your hand at work in their lives. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to trust You even when the road is hard.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You. Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness. We trust You to move in this situation, and we give You all the glory. Amen.

We hear how much weight you're carrying right now, and how alone it can feel when the needs keep stacking up while the resources keep running out. The floor, the AC, the medicine, the job: each one would be hard on its own, and you're facing them all at once while both of you are fighting ###. That takes a kind of courage you may not be able to see in yourself right now, but we see it.

When a husband loses a job he cares about, it often hits him right at the center of who he understands himself to be, and the waiting only deepens that wound. One small, concrete thing that sometimes helps during that silence is for him to send a brief, warm follow-up note to the interviewer, not pressuring for an answer, just thanking them again for the conversation and asking one thoughtful question about the role. That simple act can restore a tiny sense of movement and control when the waiting feels dead.

The medication is a serious burden. Many pharmacists and manufacturers offer temporary assistance programs their patients never hear about unless someone asks. A quick phone call to the pharmacy or the prescribing doctor's office, just saying "we can't afford this right now, can you help us figure out options?", can sometimes open a door. This is a next step worth taking today.

And with everything broken around the house, it's easy for your mind to see it all at once and come undone. Perhaps the two of you could pick one single small repair that doesn't cost anything, just a loose board you can screw back down together in ten minutes, and do it side by side this week. The purpose isn't the floor; it's the reminder that you can still act together, even in the middle of the mess.

Father, you see this couple, the floorboards and the air that won't cool, the vials that cost too much, and the silence after that phone interview. We ask for a break in that silence, and for help with the medicine they cannot afford right now. Hold steady the heart of this husband who carries his family's weight as his own. Give them both the strength to do today what they can, and the grace to lay down the rest. In Jesus' name.

The burden you carry is indeed heavy, and the temptation to look at the failing floors, the broken air, the empty medicine bottle, and the dwindling work is to feel your own strength drying up like a summer brook. All strength apart from God is derived and measurable; it must come to an end. Physical force, mental resolve, even the natural love for a spouse, these will utterly fail when pressed beyond their measure. This is the appointed place where self-trust dies, and it is a mercy if it drives you to the One whose strength is inexhaustible. You are not called to haul up a reserve of power from your own empty cisterns, but to confess you have no might at all. It is to those who have no might that He increases strength.

The promise given to the tribe of Asher was not for a stockpile of grace to be laid away for future display. It was, "As thy days, so shall thy strength be." You are thinking of the medicine for tomorrow, the floor that is sinking, the interview that may never come, and the sickness that saps the spirit. The Lord does not give strength today for the sorrow of next week. When the wind from the wilderness smote the house where Job’s children feasted, strength grew as the trouble grew. Not before. Not after. Lay hold of that word when the robbers in the wood and the rivers to be crossed loom before your hearts: here is your antidote, your shield. The trouble will come with its own convoy of strength, straight from the throne of God, fitly infused and wisely balanced for that very moment.

You speak of needing strength to care for your house and fight depression. Observe the text, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength." The waiting must be done. It is not the posture of a stoic who grits his teeth, but of a servant whose eyes are fixed on the master’s hand. This waiting breathes prayer. When the apostles felt that forgiving a brother seven times was beyond the strength of nature, they did not grit their teeth to attempt it; they breathed a prayer for more faith. You must do the same. Stop a moment before the overwhelming leap and breathe that cry. The glory of your strength must never lie in your own fortitude, your church attendance, or even in past deliverances. It must lie in God alone, and if it lies there, you will glory in the Gospel which is the main support of it.

Yet a word of caution is needed, spoken in tenderness. You tell me of your depression and your husband’s despair. Has the Lord, perhaps, allowed this suspension of fellowship to turn your eyes inward? Samson shook himself as at other times, and knew not that the Lord had departed. When the joy of the Lord is our strength, it comes from a real, living fellowship with Christ. If any known sin is harbored in the house, any bitterness, any worldly conformity, any neglect of the Lord's Table, it is better to go to the house of mourning in repentance than to the house of sinful feasting. The house of sinful feasting is the way to Hell, and the Lord often uses outward decay to clear the house of inward offense. He only wants you to lend the house of your heart; He has brought the bread. Be done with any notion that your works can assist Christ in the matter of salvation or in bearing these trials.

Therefore, I do not merely call you to pray for strength, but to lay hold upon Christ, who is the strength of the Gospel. Believe that Christ died for the ungodly. Bring your empty hands. You are as poor as the poorest beggar; receive His bounty. The joy of the Lord will then become a quiet, crouching strength that bides its time. When the heart is full of the joy of the Lord, the spirit does not limp as one whose bones are broken. The God of all grace will, in due time, strengthen, establish, and settle you.

Father, we lift this couple up to You. Open doors for a new job for him, and provide for their financial needs—fix their home, their AC, and afford his medicine. Heal her body and give them both strength and peace. Lift their depression and fill them with hope.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

- *"My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* (Philippians 4:19)

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Do not accuse your husband of weakness in his gloom, and do not let him call himself a failure. We are so quick, when we see a man in rags and turmoil, to cry out “Impostor!”, as if every poor wretch is poor by idleness or fraud. But shipwrecks, lawsuits, theft, dangers, and sicknesses heap trouble on the just and the unjust alike. Give nothing to that accusation, either against him or against your own soul. Your crushed floors, your broken cooling, your sickness, your empty purse, these do not mean God has abandoned you. The tree that yields no fruit is cursed, but the one that brings forth even a little good is delivered from vengeance. Therefore, produce what fruit you can right now: patience when your body aches, a gentle word to your husband when he returns discouraged, gratitude for the next breath. This is the fruit that shields you from despair.

You feel you are laboring with no harvest in view. Remember the Prophets sowed, and reaped nothing in their own day, they were not cheated of their reward, for they rejoice together with the Apostles who gathered the harvest. Your present toil is the hard sowing: the sleeplessness, the worry over medicine you cannot afford, the struggle to stand when ### weighs you down. The harvest is kept for you, where the return is large and the labor light. The fullness of the times came when all were nearly perishing, and then God wrought His salvation. So in this extremity, when everything seems to crumble at once, the help of the Lord is drawing near, not abandoning you.

This is your moment to let your light blaze. When neighbors see you stripped of comfort, no money for his ### supplies, a home falling apart, and you do not curse the sky but cling to Christ, your actions persuade more than any sermon. Who is so senseless that, seeing you once perhaps secure and now enduring hunger, hardship, and sickness without rage or blasphemy, will not get a clear demonstration of the world to come? But Demas forsook Paul because he loved this present world, loving his own ease. Do not be like Demas. Do not measure God’s love by the presence of luxury. Embrace the hardship as fellowship with your Lord, who had nowhere to lay His head.

I speak not to rebuke you, for the Apostle says, “Exhort one another”, but to encourage. Your fall is not irremediable. Yes, the floor is caving and the heat smothers and the medicine is out of reach, but the soul that holds fast is not cast away forever. Only beware of loving this present world so much that you sink under the weight of its losses. Exhort your husband gently; do not let despair make him harder. Bear his discouragement, and let him bear yours. You are both baptized, chosen vessels. Beg the Church for practical mercy, it is right that the faithful rally to your need. And in the meantime, pray in the furnace, and make your sickness and poverty the soil where the fruit of endurance grows. If you do this, you will not be cut down. The harvest is coming.
