We lift up your son before the throne of grace, asking for divine protection as he travels. The Lord is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that He would surround your son with His angels, commanding them to guard him in all his ways (Psalm 91:11). May the Lord go before him to make the crooked places straight, and behind him to keep him from harm (Isaiah 45:2). We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment, he shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
Heavenly Father, we also bring before You the silent requests placed in the Name of Jesus. We trust that You hear the prayers of Your children, for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry (Psalm 34:15). We ask that You would move mightily in these situations, working all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Lord, we know that Your plans for us are plans for peace and not for evil, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
We pray that You would grant wisdom and discernment in every decision, that Your will may be done in each circumstance. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We stand on the promise that if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us (1 John 5:14). Strengthen our faith as we wait on You, knowing that those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).

How tender a plea is this, that you come before the mercy seat with your beloved sons upon your heart! Rest assured, your silent requests are not silent to Him who hears the groaning of the spirit and interprets every sigh of the soul. When you pray in the name of Jesus, you stand upon that firm ground where the blood of the everlasting covenant speaks louder than all your fears, and the Father’s ear is ever open.
The King’s highway is the place of safety, and I rejoice that you seek protection for your sons as they travel. We are all travelers in this wilderness, and every road is beset with perils seen and unseen. Yet there is no iron chariot, no terror by night, no arrow that flies by day that can pluck us from the hand of our God. He has charged His angels concerning you, to keep you in all your ways, those visible guardians who minister to the heirs of salvation. But remember, the way of duty is the way of safety; the path of obedience is paved with divine protection. While your sons sit in the vehicle, commit them, body and soul, to the One who holds the winds in His fist and numbers the very hairs of their heads. The same God who watched over His dear Son in the carpenter’s shop, who preserved Him amid a thousand dangers, will not sleep nor slumber in the keeping of your children.
Your unspoken burdens are as open to Him as the pages of a book. When you could not frame the words, when the ache was too deep for utterance, the great High Priest read the inmost needs and presented them in the golden censer of His own intercession. The Father’s love is not a cold abstraction, He gave His Son out of His own bosom to die, and with that gift He will freely give us all things. Draw near to Him, then, with boldness. The prodigal was yet a great way off when the father saw him, had compassion, and ran. How much more does the heavenly Father hasten to meet His praying child, to encircle your sons with the shield of His favor, and to answer those petitions you have whispered in secret.
Trust Jesus, only trust Him. Lift your shield of faith, and every fiery dart of anxiety shall be quenched. You do well to ask for driving protection for your sons, for we need the Lord’s sheltering hand in every journey. The Good Shepherd leads His sheep in and out, and they find pasture, which means safety and security; none shall thrust them out. This comfort is for those who remain within His fold in heart and mind. So let your silent requests also be lifted up, knowing He hears the cry that rises from a soul that fears Him.
Yet do not think the asking of protection is a small thing if the life is not also guarded. The true danger is not the road or the sudden mishap, but the soul wandering abroad without the bridle of God’s fear. Nothing so ruins a man as to slip from this anchor. If having a sober servant before our eyes makes us blush at doing amiss, think what safety we enjoy by setting God always before us. We must travel the narrow way, both confident in Christ our guide and in holy fear because of the precipices on either side; a little slumber, a little gaping after useless and vain things, and we are swept away quickly. Do not merely admire riches, or beauty, or the bustle of the world; these are subjects for pity, not wonder.
And examine your silent requests. Are they for the works of light? For we are called to be sons of the day, walking in things pleasing to God, not using His patience as a plea to continue in what is unseemly. His long-suffering is meant to draw us to repentance, not to make the judgment more fearful by our delay. There is repentance, and it has great force to set us free, even from the very depth of wickedness, if we will lay hold of it. There is no need of spending money or crossing oceans; it needs only the will, and a bridle on the tongue, on disorderly lusts, on the desire of wealth. Cut off whatever leads to darkness. For He gave Himself for our sins that He might deliver us from this present evil world, securing our future safety. Entrust your sons, and every unspoken care, into the hands of the King who comes meek and lowly, and walk yourself in that meekness and wakefulness.

I join you in lifting up your sons before the Lord, asking for His protection as they are on the road. There is a profound comfort in entrusting our children to the One who numbers every hair on their heads and watches over their coming and going.
Prayer for our sons is far more than a last resort. It is a drawing near to the true High Priest who consecrates them for His purposes. In Exodus, we see Moses washing Aaron and his sons with water, then clothing them, anointing them with oil and the blood from the altar, sanctifying their garments. This was not mere ceremony. It was a covering, a setting apart for safe service under God's own hand. When I pray for your sons, I am asking that they be kept under that same kind of holy covering, not by a ritual, but by the blood of Jesus that speaks a better word. As they drive, may they be as those who sit down under His shadow with great delight, finding His protection sweet to their taste.
The scriptures also warn us through the sons of Eli, who brought dishonor through carelessness, and through Aaron's sons who offered strange fire and were consumed. Those accounts sober me always. They remind me that the privilege of being called a son carries the weight of walking in reverence and obedience. So I pray not only for physical safety, but that your sons would be kept from presumptuous steps, from distractions, from anything that would draw them outside the Lord's will. That they would do all the things the Lord commands, as Aaron and his sons did in their appointed service.
And I recall the image of those black goats spread across the mountainside like flowing hair, a picture of the flock resting unafraid on the heights. Our heavenly Father knows how to shepherd His own. He leads them and guards them as they travel. So I set these silent requests before Him too, not needing to know every detail, because He knows. Just as Jacob blessed his sons with words that stretched into future generations, so the Lord’s word over your children will not return empty. He will bless them and keep them, the Lord will make His face shine upon them and give them peace. In the strong name of Jesus, amen.
