We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your family in prayer. Father God, we ask that You would move mightily in the marriage of these parents. Your Word tells us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." Lord, we pray that You would heal the brokenness in this marriage and restore the love and friendship that once flourished between them.
We specifically ask that You would break the chains of addiction that have taken hold of this father. Social media have become idols, drawing him away from the relationships that matter most. In 1 John 5:21, we are warned, "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus' name and ask that You would free him from this bondage. Help him to prioritize his family and to seek Your face above all else. May he find his worth and identity in You alone, not in the fleeting approval of others online.
We also lift up this young person, who is deeply affected by the tension in their home. Father, we ask that You would comfort them and remind them of Your constant presence. In Psalm 34:18, You promise, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Lord, we pray that You would fill this child with Your peace and joy, even in the midst of this difficult season. Help them to find fun and laughter in life, to excel in their studies and track, and to cherish their relationships with their siblings.
We pray for wisdom for this young person as they navigate school and strive for excellence. In James 1:5, we are told, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Lord, we ask that You would grant them the wisdom they need to make godly decisions and to pursue their goals with diligence and integrity. May they be a light to their peers and bring glory to Your name.
Father, we also pray for healing in the aftermath of the grandfather's passing. Grief can be a heavy burden, and we ask that You would comfort this family as they mourn. In Matthew 5:4, Jesus tells us, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Lord, we ask that You would wrap Your arms around them and remind them of the hope we have in You.
We rebuke the spirit of division and strife that has entered this home. In 1 Corinthians 1:10, we are called to unity: "Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment." Lord, we pray that You would bring this family back together, united in love and purpose.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You, Father. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and we declare that Jesus is Lord over this situation. In Acts 4:12, we are reminded, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Lord, we ask that You would move in power and bring about a transformation in this family, for Your glory.
May this young person and their family experience the fullness of Your love and grace. May they find hope in You and trust in Your perfect timing. We declare that this family will be restored, and that they will once again experience the joy of friendship and love in their home. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
