Please pray that he contacts me and we spend time together

Beloved of All
Hello, I was searching for prayers to get someone to contact you and I was really moved by the prayers and messages people posted on this site for someone else who was in a somewhat similar situation. So, please if you could pray that the man I’ve been dating forgives, contacts, and spends time in person with me as we had planned, I would appreciate it so much. We had planned to meet tomorrow. He lives in another country. It took him two days to get here. We like each other a lot. The problem is my mind was anxious and somehow convinced me he wasn’t as interested in me, though he messaged me as soon as he arrived and then went to eat and talk to his parents. In that moment of doubt and fear deleted a text he had already read. Sometimes when he’s in the country where he lives he takes (often) five hours to reply to a text. This makes me think he doesn’t feel as interested. So when he took like thirty minutes to reply (I didn’t know for sure what he was doing or if he had just arrived), I stupidly deleted that message he had already seen. Because I thought he was going to wait 5 hours. And it had been an affectionate text that he left on read. And I was insecure. I regret it so much. He is so sweet and amazing. Anyway he asked if I had deleted it and I said “Yeah I did, sorry. Hope you’re good.” I was thinking I should match his energy. But I was being so stupid. Then he said “Speechless”. Then I explained why I did it, that I thought I would be on read for five hours and that I didn’t really need an answer now but that I think it’s disrespectful to leave someone on read for that long (I meant five hours, not thirty minutes, but he took it to mean the time that he was eating, the thirty minutes). I had just assumed the worst in that half hour. I am so sad you can’t imagine. He explained that he texted me as soon as he arrived and then went to eat and talk to his parents. And he said, this is more disappointing than it probably should be. And I apologized in two texts which he read and left on read, I just explained - it wasn’t enough of an apology but at least I explained that I was so excited to talk to him and just didn’t want to wait. After he left those on read I texted like 6 more apology texts, one was a voice message, and deleted all but two. This was yesterday. Today I deleted those two (still unread) and sent another asking him to please call, that I could explain, and he wouldn’t be mad at me, and said that I was sorry though since I know I was wrong. Anyway, he has every right to be upset. But we get along so well and are so happy when we’re together in person. This is my fault, my anxiety and insecurity got the best of me. And PMS to be honest. Could you please not judge me and pray that he will contact me and we’ll see each other as planned? I am so sorry you can’t imagine. I’m a good person though maybe I don’t sound like it, I am.

We hear your heart in this request and we do not judge you, we come alongside you to seek God's will together in Jesus' name. We understand how heavy regret and anxiety can feel, especially when you care deeply for someone and fear you have pushed him away. We want to lift you up in prayer while also sharing truth from scripture to help bring peace and wisdom to this situation.

First we want to gently address something we noticed, you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. As it is written, Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is through His name we pray and find true peace, even in anxious moments.

We also want to speak to the anxiety and insecurity you described. It is understandable to feel insecure when communication feels uncertain, but scripture calls us to bring those anxious thoughts to God rather than acting hastily on them. Don't be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 and casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7. Deleting messages, assuming the worst, and sending many follow up texts out of fear can often make a misunderstanding larger. Love is patient and is kind, love doesn't envy, love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil, doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Part of patient love is giving space and trusting the other person's character, and being quick to listen and slow to speak. Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. James 1:19. We encourage you to let your apology stand without repeatedly deleting and resending, and to give him time to process while you rest in God's peace.

We also want to speak biblically about the relationship itself. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we view dating or being a boyfriend and girlfriend as courtship with the goal being marriage to another Christian believer. We pray for godly marriages that honor God, and we encourage individuals to pursue relationships that align with biblical principles. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity. 2 Corinthians 6:14. We do not know if this man shares your faith in Christ, but we encourage you to seek that first above all, that any courtship be between two believers who are pursuing marriage for the glory of God. If you do spend time together in person, we encourage you to do so with clear boundaries that honor God, fleeing from fornication which is sex before or outside of marriage, for God calls us to purity. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.

We know you feel you were wrong to delete the affectionate text and to accuse him of disrespect, and it is good that you have humbly acknowledged that. A sincere apology that takes responsibility without demanding an immediate response shows maturity and respect. We will pray that God softens both of your hearts, brings forgiveness and clear communication, and that if it is His will, He would open the door for contact and for you to see each other as planned in a way that honors Him. Yet we also pray that you would find peace even if his response is not immediate or not as you hope, trusting that God works all things together for good for those who love Him. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for our sister. We thank You that You see her heart, her regret, her anxiety, and her desire to make things right. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness where she has acted in haste and insecurity, and we ask that You would forgive us all through the blood of Jesus. Grant her Your peace that surpasses understanding to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help her to cast all her cares on You because You care for her. Give her wisdom to be patient, to speak with grace, and to trust rather than assume the worst. Father, we lift up this man to You as well. Soften his heart where there is disappointment, help him to extend grace and forgiveness as You have forgiven us. If it is Your will, we ask that You would prompt him to contact her and that You would allow them to communicate clearly and spend time together in a godly and pure way that honors You. If this courtship is to continue, we pray that it would be centered on You, that both would be believers seeking marriage for Your glory, and that You would guide their steps. Above all, let Your will be done, not ours. Help our sister to find her identity and worth in You, knowing she is fearfully and wonderfully made, and that You love her deeply. Draw her closer to Jesus and let her know the hope of salvation through His name. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to rest in the Lord today, to pray and then to give him space without further deleted or repeated messages, letting your last sincere apology stand. Spend time in prayer and in the Word, and if possible seek wise counsel from a mature Christian woman or pastor who knows you. God is gracious and He can redeem even our mistakes when we humbly turn to Him.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly with us. We can hear how heavy this feels and how much you were looking forward to seeing him tomorrow after he traveled so far. It makes sense you feel sad and regretful right now.

When we get anxious, our minds can be very convincing. A short wait can quickly feel like disinterest, and that fear can push us to do things fast to try to protect ourselves, like deleting a message or sending several more to fix it. Then afterward we often feel even more unsettled. What you described, assuming the worst in that half hour and then wishing you could take it back, is a very human experience when worry takes the lead. It does not mean you are a bad person.

A gentle next step that may help you both is to let your last sincere apology stand and pause on messaging for now. It is understandable to want to explain more, but deleting and resending can make it harder for him to know where you stand. Giving him space while he is with his family, and giving yourself space to breathe, can be kinder to you both. If you have a trusted friend or pastor nearby, consider sitting with them in person while you wait instead of carrying the wait alone. If you notice anxious thoughts feel overwhelming often, talking with a counselor or pastor regularly alongside prayer can be a supportive next step.

Father in Jesus' name, we lift our sister to You. Calm her heart and quiet the fear and shame she is carrying. Give her wisdom and peace as she waits, and help her to rest in Your care and dignity. Give him clarity too, and guide what happens next according to Your good will. Help them both to communicate with patience and kindness. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Praying for you and your situation. May our Lord grant you peace and calmness, taking away your anxieties. Praying that you will be patient with your friend when communicating - not everyone is attached to their phones and reads messages right away or can respond when they do read the message. Also, we all have replied to messages, thinking we sent the message only to realize later or the next day that we never hit “send”. Praying that you and your friend will continue to communicate and this misunderstanding will be resolved.
Praying in the name of Jesus.

Your heart is troubled and your conscience is tender, and for that there is reason to give thanks, for it shows you are not hardened. You have come with sorrow for what you have done, with anxiety that has run ahead of wisdom, and with a desire for forgiveness. Hear then what the Word of God says, for there is forgiveness with Him.

There is forgiveness, not from man, but from God, through Jesus Christ His Son alone. The Scriptures declare, there is forgiveness with You. Where God draws no limit, do not you draw any. However sinful your life may have been up to now, there is forgiveness with God even for you, and it is to be had now, at this moment, through faith in Christ who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, and it is complete and eternal. If you tremble and with a penitent heart desire forgiveness, look to Christ and trust Him, for He not only forgave at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He does not forgive and afterwards accuse.

And concerning the forgiveness you seek from this man, remember that while we ought to desire our fellow creatures forgiveness, it is not necessary that we should have it to enter heaven. God can bestow His forgiveness now, though men may hiss or withhold theirs. Yet we are to study the pattern set before us, even as Christ forgave you, so also do you, and this is a joint work of mutual forgiveness among Christians. For us who have had so much forgiven, to forgive ought to be as natural as to open our hands. If he withholds a reply, you cannot compel his heart, and to press him with many messages, voice notes and repeated apologies, often unfits the very reconciliation you desire.

You speak also of anxiety, and that anxiety convinced you he was not interested, and led you to act hastily. Do not be so affected by outward things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness and distress. Our Saviour would have us not be anxious about such things. Be prudent, but know that anxiety has never comforted anybody, nor brought any grist to the mill. The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. To watch the minutes for a reply, to assume the worst in half an hour, to delete what was already read, this is the fruit of a restless spirit. Cast your care upon the Lord, who cares for you, and tell Him your trouble rather than telling yourself about it alone.

I will not pray that God would simply grant whatever affection desires, for God has ordained marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that intimacy and living together belong within that covenant alone. He will not bless what runs against His holy design. What I will pray is that He will do what is best and most honoring to Him in your life and in this man's life.

Let us pray together. O Lord, forgiving God, with whom there is forgiveness, look upon this anxious soul. Forgive her sins through the blood of Jesus Christ, and give her to believe in the forgiveness of sins for herself, not in a vague hope but in a certain trust in Thy Son. Quiet her heart, take away fretful care, and teach her to wait upon Thee with patience and prudence. Grant her wisdom to act with grace and restraint, to respect what is due to another, and to seek purity and holiness in all relationships. If it be Thy will, soften and incline the heart of this man to answer with kindness, and guide both lives according to Thy perfect will, whether together in a path that honors Thee or apart in peace. Above all, draw her to Thyself, that she may know she is fully forgiven and loved in Christ, and may walk in newness of life. Amen.

Seek first the Lord and His forgiveness, rest in His present mercy, give space where you have pressed too hard, and trust His providence for what comes tomorrow. If you are to meet, let it be with modesty, honesty and self control, seeking counsel from godly and mature believers near you, and looking not merely to be happy together in person, but to be holy before God.
