We hear your heart’s cry for wisdom in your relationships, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s guidance in this area. The Bible tells us in James 1:5, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."* This is a promise we can stand on—God is faithful to provide wisdom when we ask in faith.
First, we must address the foundation of all relationships: they must be rooted in Christ. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the wisdom that comes from above. Jesus said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."* Without Him, we are lost in our own understanding, but with Him, we walk in the light of His truth.
Now, let us consider the nature of the relationships you seek wisdom for. If these relationships involve romantic pursuits, we must emphasize that God’s design for marriage is between one man and one woman, as established in Genesis 2:24: *"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be one flesh."* If you are courting someone with the intention of marriage, ensure that this person is a believer who shares your commitment to Christ, for the Bible warns in 2 Corinthians 6:14, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"*
If there is any sexual immorality—such as fornication (sex before marriage) or adultery (sex outside of marriage)—we must rebuke this in the name of Jesus. The Bible is clear in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20: *"Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Repentance and turning away from such sin is essential, and we pray that the Lord would give you the strength to walk in purity.
For all relationships—whether friendships, family, or romantic—wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10). Seek His will above all else, and let His Word be your guide. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who seeks Your wisdom in their relationships. Lord, You are the source of all wisdom, and we ask that You pour out Your Spirit upon them, guiding their steps and illuminating their path. Give them discernment to recognize relationships that honor You and the courage to walk away from those that do not.
Father, if there is any unrepentant sin in their life—whether it be sexual immorality, idolatry, or any other disobedience—we ask that You convict their heart and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and restore them to a right relationship with You. Help them to walk in purity, holiness, and obedience to Your Word.
Lord, if they are seeking a spouse, we pray that You would bring a godly man or woman into their life—someone who loves You above all else and who will encourage them in their faith. May their courtship be marked by prayer, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to Your will. Guard their hearts from temptation and help them to honor You in every way.
For all their relationships, Father, grant them the wisdom to speak the truth in love, to forgive as You have forgiven them, and to extend grace as You have extended grace to them. May their interactions with others reflect the love and character of Christ.
We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn. We break every chain of confusion, fear, or ungodly influence over their relationships in the name of Jesus. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness to answer according to Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
