Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for this new month is heard, and it is good to bring your need for safety, peace, blessings, protection and guidance to the Lord.
Scripture shows that under the old covenant blessings were pronounced with a condition, if the people would hear and obey the voice of the Lord. But that way could never bring us fully into what God wanted to give, because we all fall short. In the new covenant God has made another way. All of the blessings God promised are now received not by our works of righteousness, but by believing in the finished work of Jesus Christ on our behalf. We are blessed on the basis of His promise and His work for us, which never ceases.
That is why the New Testament gives thanks not mainly for material things, but for every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. When you put your faith in Jesus, you become a child of promise and you enter into those spiritual blessings. They include forgiveness, being made right with God, being adopted into His family, and having His presence with you. I pray that in this month you will experience those blessings in an ever increasing measure, and that you will find you are blessed not to keep it to yourself, but to share what God has given you with others.
You asked for peace, and God truly wants you to live in peace. First we need peace with God. While we are at war with God in our hearts, there is inner turmoil. God has offered a peace treaty through the blood of Jesus. When sins are forgiven, the war is over and you can have peace within. Then you can know the peace of God day by day. The prophet said the Lord will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. The world cannot understand this peace, but it will guard your heart and mind as you keep your eyes on Him. If you sow peace, you will also reap the fruit of righteousness, and you will find peace with others as well.
You asked for safety and protection and for His hand to be upon you. The Lord is your rock that is higher than you, your place of defense and shelter. To hide in Him is to be in the safest place. As you trust Him and keep your mind stayed on Him, you can rest in His strength and deliverance.
So I pray for you now, that the Lord would draw you closer to Jesus Christ and keep your trust firmly in Him. May you know first the peace of being forgiven and reconciled to God, and then the daily perfect peace that comes from keeping your mind on Him. May the Lord bless you with every spiritual blessing that is yours in Christ, surround you with His protection as your rock and shelter, and guide your steps with His wisdom. May His hand be upon you to keep you safe and to lead you in the right path through this month. In Jesus name, amen.
