I have just started a new job but it is not going well and my new bosses and colleagues dismiss me. I feel very dejected. Can you please pray for me that my relationship improves and people treat me with respect and dignity and I get a lot of fame at work and in my students. I get a lot of awards and recognition. Please pray that I also find a new job urgently.

We join together with you in prayer and bring your situation before our Heavenly Father, and we understand how painful it is to feel dismissed and dejected in a new workplace where you long to be valued and respected.

We want to gently and lovingly address something in your request. You asked for a lot of fame and for many awards and recognition at work and among your students. We understand the desire to be seen and appreciated, especially when you feel overlooked, but Scripture warns us about seeking fame for ourselves. The desire for human glory can lead us away from God's purpose for our work. For it is written, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble James 4:6, and Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time 1 Peter 5:6. Also, Am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ Galatians 1:10. And Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ Colossians 3:23-24. Our prayer is not that you would be made famous, but that your work would glorify God and that any respect and honor you receive would be a reflection of Christ in you, letting your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven Matthew 5:16.

Your feeling of being dejected is seen by God. You are made in His image and have inherent dignity and worth regardless of how your bosses and colleagues treat you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We also encourage you to commit your work to the Lord, as it is written, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed Proverbs 16:3. This means doing your duties with diligence, integrity, kindness and humility, even when others dismiss you, trusting that God sees and rewards faithfulness.

Regarding your desire for a new job urgently, we understand the urgency you feel, but we encourage you to seek God's will and timing rather than acting out of anxiety. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. God has a plan for you, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. If it is His will for you to remain where you are to grow and be a light, He will give you grace to endure. If it is His will for you to move to a new job, He will open that door in His perfect time.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and can come boldly to God in prayer Romans 10:9. We pray that you know this hope and that you bring all your requests in His precious name.

We now pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the hurt and dejection felt from being dismissed by bosses and colleagues. We ask You to comfort this heart and remind this one of the dignity and worth found as Your child. Lord, we pray You would heal the discouragement and fill this one with Your peace and strength. We pray for the workplace relationships, that You would soften hearts and bring mutual respect and kindness, and help our friend to respond with grace, humility and excellence as serving You and not men. Forgive any desire for selfish fame and help this one to seek Your glory above all, to work faithfully and to trust You for any recognition in Your due time, for You have said Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you James 4:10. Father, we pray for Your clear guidance regarding work. If it is Your will for a new job, we pray You would open the right door and provide urgently according to Your perfect wisdom, and if You would have this one remain, grant endurance and favor. Lead and direct each step. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to be steadfast, to pray daily in the name of Jesus, to do your work unto the Lord with a humble and teachable spirit, and to trust that God will lift you up and honor your faithfulness in His perfect way and time.

We were so sorry to read how discouraging this new job has been. To step into a new place hoping to contribute and then feel dismissed by bosses and colleagues is deeply deflating, and it makes sense you feel dejected.

We are praying that you will be treated with the respect and dignity that every person deserves, and that your relationships at work can find a healthier footing. Respect often grows slowly through small, steady interactions, through showing commitment to the work, trying to understand others even when we feel misunderstood, and offering warmth where we can. It does not excuse dismissive behavior, but those steady habits can sometimes open a door that was closed.

One practical step that may help this week is to ask for a brief, specific check in with one supervisor or trusted colleague. A simple question like, 'Is there one thing I could do differently to better support the team?' can give you clearer feedback and show you are engaged, while also giving you information to weigh as you consider whether to stay or to look for a new job urgently. If you do pursue a new position, we encourage you to move thoughtfully, perhaps talking with a mentor who knows your field.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see the discouragement and the longing to be valued. Grant wisdom for each workday, kindness in relationships, and clear guidance about next steps. Give peace and steady confidence in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrow has been heard and has been carried before the throne of grace with sincere sympathy. To enter upon a new labour and to find oneself dismissed and despised by those who should be helpers is a heavy trial, and dejection of spirit in such a case is not strange. Yet we are reminded of Job, of whom it is written, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. Under the loss of all and under the contempt of those about him, he kept right with God and was not swift to complain.

We have prayed for you that the Lord would give you patience and grace to bear this present burden without unbelieving or rebellious speeches, and that you may be kept from charging God foolishly. We have asked that He would soften the hearts of those set over you and of those who labour beside you, that you may be treated with the respect and dignity which belong to every creature made in His image, and that you may be enabled to adorn your place by quiet diligence and fidelity, working as unto the Lord and not unto men.

Concerning fame and awards and much recognition, we must speak faithfully. The heart that seeks great glory for itself will find little rest, for honour that comes from men is fleeting and often ensnares the soul. Job's true renown was not in the praise of his fellows, for they forsook and condemned him, but in this, that he was perfect and upright, one that feared God and eschewed evil. Seek first to be faithful in the small things committed to you, and to let your light shine not for your own praise but that God may be glorified. If recognition comes, receive it with humility. If it does not, be content to have the approval of your Master in heaven.

We have also prayed for your desire for a new sphere of service. The Lord turned again the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends, even for those who had spoken harshly against him. Learn from him to pray for those who now dismiss you, and peradventure the Lord will turn your captivity also in His own time and way. We do not ask that He would grant a new position merely at our urging or in haste, but that He would open the right door in His perfect wisdom, and prepare your heart for whatever duties await you there, whether you remain where you are or are led elsewhere.

May the Lord hear the desire of the humble, prepare your heart, and cause His ear to hear. May He uphold you as He upheld Job, and bring you through this furnace with a more vivid apprehension of Himself, so that though you have heard of Him by the hearing of the ear, now your eye shall see Him and your soul shall be stayed in peace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so.
