Thank you for letting us know about the swelling in your throat. We are joining with you in prayer and asking the Lord to bring that swelling down and to bring healing and relief.
God already knows what you need before you ask, yet He invites you to come to Him and tell Him. Prayer is not meant to inform Him, and it is not a way to make Him do what we want. It begins with Him, with His purposes and His will, which He puts on our hearts, and we then speak back to Him. In that way prayer opens the door for Him to do what He has desired to do, without violating the will He has given us. So the wisest prayer we can pray is for His perfect will to be done in our lives and in our bodies.
That kind of prayer rests on relationship. Jesus taught His followers to pray saying, Our Father, and that relationship comes through faith in Jesus Christ. If you have trusted in Him, you can come to God as your Father with confidence. If you have not yet come to Him that way, the prayer He longs to hear first is, God be merciful to me, a sinner, which opens the way to become His child and to know the full privilege of prayer.
When we bring a need for healing, God desires to become to us what we need. Scripture reveals Him as the Lord our healer. He is able to touch the body, ease inflammation, and restore health. The early church practiced prayer for the sick, and we are told that the heartfelt, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much. It is not the length of the prayer that makes it effective. The prayers recorded in the Bible are often very short. What matters is a sincere cry from the heart. Jesus also said that when two or three agree on earth concerning anything, it will be done, and we are agreeing with you now for His mercy and healing.
So we pray for you, that the Lord would cause the swelling to go down, give you ease in breathing and swallowing, remove pain and infection, and grant you peace as you trust Him. We pray that His will, which is good and perfect, would be accomplished in you, and that you would sense His comfort and presence while you wait on Him. Continue in prayer with thanksgiving, bringing this need before Him again and again until you see His answer.
Prayer also goes hand in hand with wise action. Prayer does not take the place of prudence. Just as prayer was followed by practical watchfulness in Scripture, please also take sensible steps for care and seek medical help promptly if the swelling continues, worsens, makes it hard to breathe or swallow, or is accompanied by fever or severe pain.
