Sis in christ kuching

Disciple of Prayer
I recently applied for switch department internally after a year. I like the portfolio coz it gave me the fulfillment, but often due to the job structure, they require me to prioritize counter and handle portfolio outpatient jobs when free. So i juggle between time everyday until i often work out of office hours. It left me feeling empty after finish my tasks, feeling a lot of the time why i couldnt handle portfolio mostly uninterrupted at my office hours. I dont know how to make new frens or meet my soul mate but i dont want to end up living my life just working even during weekends for this coz im over responsible for my personality. Eventually i decided to write in to transfer. Everyone was shocked because most thought my performance is good but after switching, i discover maybe i do have strength in my previous portfolio and the new portfolio inpatient job lacks fulfilment although its difficulty much lesser than my old one. Now im in a dilemma, admitting i kinda feel regret if i made the wrong choice. I do like the previous portfolio giving me confidence and fulfilment, but it probably affects my health alot. But in the new department, i stands a lot and it sores my feet. The department is very small, and not challenging as mine older portfolio. Could you help me pray, coz im unsure if i made the wrong decision. Im stucked after a year, that i could meet new frens or suitable guy to be my partner. Thats why im depressed.

We hear your struggle, and we lift you up before the Lord, seeking His wisdom and peace in this season of uncertainty. Your heart is clearly burdened, not just by the weight of work, but by the deeper longing for purpose, balance, and meaningful connection. Let us first acknowledge that your desire for fulfillment in your calling and for companionship is not wrong; God Himself placed those longings in you. But we must also examine the ways in which the world’s standards, like overwork, misplaced priorities, or even the pursuit of relationships outside of God’s design, may be contributing to your emptiness.

Scripture reminds us, "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain" (Psalm 127:1). Your work, no matter how noble, cannot satisfy the deepest parts of your soul if it is not aligned with God’s purposes for your life. You mentioned feeling "empty" after tasks, and we must ask: Are you seeking fulfillment in your career more than in your relationship with Christ? Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). True rest is found in Him, not in a job title or even a "perfect" schedule.

You also shared your struggle to meet new friends or a "suitable guy to be my partner." We must gently but firmly address this: If you are seeking a partner rather than a spouse, you may be opening your heart to relationships that do not honor God’s design for marriage. The Bible is clear that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6), and that believers should only marry other believers (2 Corinthians 6:14). Courtship should be entered with the intent of marriage, not just companionship. If you are dating or pursuing relationships outside of these boundaries, it will only deepen your dissatisfaction. We encourage you to seek godly friendships first, and to trust God’s timing for a spouse, if He wills it for you.

Now, let us pray for you:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister who is weary and torn between two paths. Lord, You see her heart, her desire to serve faithfully, to find purpose in her work, and to walk in relationships that honor You. We ask that You would grant her clarity, Father. Show her the path You have for her, whether it is in her previous role, her current one, or something entirely new. Break the spirit of regret and second-guessing, and replace it with Your peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we also pray for her health, both physical and spiritual. You know the toll this season has taken on her body and her heart. Strengthen her when she stands, comfort her when she is weary, and remind her that her worth is not found in productivity but in being Your beloved child (1 John 3:1).

Father, we ask that You would surround her with godly community. Open doors for her to build friendships with believers who will sharpen her and encourage her in the faith (Proverbs 27:17). If it is Your will for her to marry, prepare her heart and lead her to a man who loves You above all else, a man who will cherish her as Christ cherishes the Church (Ephesians 5:25).

Most of all, Lord, we pray that she would find her ultimate fulfillment in You. Help her to seek You first in all things (Matthew 6:33), and to trust that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who gives true rest and purpose. Amen."

You are not stuck, you are in a season of refinement. The fact that you are questioning these things shows that God is at work in you. We encourage you to:
1. Seek God’s will above your own desires. Spend time in prayer and Scripture, asking Him to reveal His purpose for your work and relationships.
2. Set boundaries. If your job is consuming your life, ask God for wisdom to either adjust your responsibilities or seek a new path that aligns with His peace.
3. Pursue godly community. Join a Bible study, serve in your church, or connect with other believers who can walk alongside you.
4. Guard your heart in relationships. If you are seeking a spouse, do so with intentionality and prayer, ensuring that any potential relationship honors God’s design.

Remember, Jesus said, "My yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:30). You do not have to carry this alone. We will continue to stand with you in prayer as you seek Him.

We hear how torn you feel right now, looking back at a year of juggling late hours and an empty feeling after work, then stepping into a new department hoping for breathing room, only to feel regret and questions about whether you chose wrong. It makes sense that you would feel unsettled when one role gave you fulfillment but wore on your health, and the other is lighter but leaves you sore on your feet and missing challenge and confidence.

Being someone who feels deeply responsible can make it hard to leave tasks unfinished, and also hard to know when to step back. That tension does not mean you failed, it often means you were carrying more than one person can carry uninterrupted for long.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of crossroads is to get a little space to sort it out with someone who knows your work well. Alongside prayer, it can help to talk with a trusted supervisor, mentor, or counselor about what you are noticing, what parts of each portfolio fit your strengths, and what options actually exist now, whether that is staying and shaping the current role, or asking honestly if a return is possible. Writing down for a few days what drains you and what gives you energy can make that conversation clearer.

We also hear your loneliness in wanting new friendships and a partner to share life with, and not wanting life to be only work. That longing is real, and feeling stuck there can weigh heavily. If the low mood and exhaustion continue, please consider reaching out to a doctor or counselor in your area for support as you keep praying through this.

Father, we bring our sister to You in Jesus' name. You see her diligence, her sore feet, her tired heart and her desire for companionship. Give her wisdom for next steps at work, rest for her body, and steady hope as You lead her. Bring kind friendships around her and help her sense Your nearness each day. Amen.

Your letter has been read with much tenderness of heart, and your burden has been laid before the Lord as you desired. You speak of weariness and emptiness after long hours, of a choice that now brings regret, of sore feet and a small sphere that does not stir your gifts as once they were stirred, and of a loneliness that makes the heart heavy because it longs for true companionship. These are not small trials, and He who sees in secret sees them all.

There is a natural regret in looking back upon months past and saying with Job, Oh that I were as in months past, when the work of my hands seemed to prosper and my soul found a confidence and fulfilment in it. Such regret is common to our frail nature when reverses come. Yet regret alone will not profit if we abide in the same perplexity without seeking wisdom from above. If the former portfolio gave you joy but consumed your health and drew you into labour even on days appointed for rest, and if the present place gives relief from that strain but leaves you without the exercise of your best strengths, then you are called not merely to compare sorrows but to ask the Lord for light. He giveth wisdom liberally to them that ask in faith. Seek counsel also of those who oversee your labour and of mature saints who know your walk, that you may discern whether to remain and grow where you are planted, or whether in His providence another door should be opened. Remember your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, and to overtax it from a sense of over responsibility is not required of you. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, for He careth for you, and learn to do what lieth within your proper hours with diligence, and then to leave the remainder with Him.

You speak also of loneliness and of desiring to meet new friends and a suitable partner, and of depression because these have not yet been granted after a year of waiting. Here your sorrow touches the loneliness of the Saviour Himself, who said, Ye shall leave me alone and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. There are seasons when the believer is made to feel alone, when fellowship seems thin and the heart craves earthly companionship. In such an hour our Lord's own loneliness becomes our comfort, for He knows the pain of being left without human sympathy and He abides with His own. You are not alone, even when no earthly friend stands near, because the Father is with you in Christ. That presence does not remove the desire for godly fellowship, but it sustains you till He provides it.

Take heed that you do not make an idol of work nor of marriage, but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. True fulfilment is not found in a portfolio alone, be it ever so suited to your gifts, but in familiar intercourse with the Most High through Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom alone salvation is found. If you have not already, flee to Him and rest wholly upon His finished work, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Abiding in Him, you will find that whether your sphere be large or small, difficult or less so, you may serve Him faithfully and find peace.

For companionship, wait upon the Lord and walk in the paths where godly friendships are formed, chiefly in the faithful assembly of His people and in quiet service. If it be His will to give you a husband, pray that He would provide a godly man that you may enter with him into that holy covenant of marriage which God ordained from the beginning to be the lifelong union of one man and one woman, and wherein alone the Lord has appointed the joy and union of man and woman to be enjoyed. Do not be hasty to seek relief from loneliness by any way that would lead you outside that holy ordinance, for that which begins outside His will cannot bring His blessing.

We will pray for you to this end.

O Lord our Father, look in mercy upon this thy servant who is wearied and perplexed. Thou knowest the labours of her hands, the hours spent beyond strength, the soreness of body and the heaviness of spirit. Forgive her sins through the blood of Jesus Christ alone, and draw her into nearer communion with Thyself, that she may know she is not alone because Thou art with her. Grant her wisdom to discern Thy will concerning her daily calling, whether to remain or to return, and give her grace to steward her health and her time for Thy glory. Heal her discouragement, lift the cloud of depression, and comfort her with the presence of Christ who was alone that she might never be forsaken. Provide for her true friends in the household of faith, and if it be Thy good pleasure, provide in Thy time a godly husband that she may know the blessing of Christian marriage according to Thine ordinance. Keep her from all that is contrary to Thy holy way, and cause her to find her fulfilment and confidence not in work alone but in Thee. Establish her heart in patience and hope, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest and humble request has been heard, and I have brought it before the Lord with care. Thank you for sharing so openly about the struggle between fulfillment and health, between regret and hope for the future.

It is understandable that you feel torn. In your former work you found confidence and a sense of purpose, yet the structure of the job left you constantly juggling, working beyond office hours and even on weekends, and feeling empty and exhausted afterward. Now in the new place the work is less difficult but also less fulfilling, it strains your body in a different way, and the small environment feels less challenging. To feel regret in such a moment is natural, and to wonder whether you made the wrong choice is a burden many carry.

Scripture helps us distinguish between kinds of sorrow. There is a godly sorrow that leads to repentance and life and leaves no regret, and there is a worldly sorrow that only weighs the heart down and works death. Much of what you describe sounds like the second kind, the sorrow of disappointment, fatigue, and loneliness, not the sorrow of sin. God does not want you to be crushed by endless second guessing. He invites you to bring the decision itself to Him, to ask for wisdom, and to trust that He can lead and restore you even when the path feels unclear. A desire to do good work and to protect what has been entrusted to you is itself a good desire, when it is offered to God rather than to our own need for control or approval.

You also mention being over responsible by personality, and that you have been carrying more than your health can bear. Your body is not your own to spend without limit. It is given by God to be stewarded. Whether it is exhaustion from overtime or pain from standing long hours, it is right to set faithful boundaries, to rest, and to seek counsel about how to work in a way that sustains health. Fulfillment should never come at the cost of destroying the health God gave you to serve Him.

Your longing for friendship and for a partner in marriage is also heard. It is good to desire companionship and not to want a life that is only work. God made us for fellowship, and marriage, when He gives it, is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, a spiritual union where soul is joined to God and to one another in holiness and fidelity. Sex and living together belong within that covenant alone. So we will not ask God to bless any other path, but we will ask Him, if it is His will for you, to provide a godly husband who loves Christ, and to keep you in purity and patience while you wait. We will also ask Him to give you true friends, especially within the fellowship of the church, where relationships are built not only on work but on shared faith, prayer, and service.

Do not let depression tell you that you are stuck without hope. The Lord knows your days and the number of them, and He knows the cause of your weariness. He can use even this time of uncertainty to teach you to depend on Him more than on any portfolio or position.

Let me pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, through whom alone we have salvation, I lift up this dear one to You. You see the diligence and responsibility You have placed in this heart, and You see the weariness and emptiness that have followed long hours and divided duties. Grant wisdom to discern the right path, whether to remain and grow where she is, or to seek a better stewardship of gifts and health elsewhere. Give peace that quiets regret and replaces worldly sorrow with trust in Your providence. Touch her body and restore strength to it, heal the pain in her feet, and teach her to rest as You command. Guard her heart from loneliness and depression, surround her with faithful friends and a church family that encourages her, and if it is Your good will, lead her to a godly man to be her husband in a holy marriage according to Your design, keeping them both pure until that covenant. Above all, let her find her fulfillment not in any portfolio but in knowing and serving You. Fill her with hope, and let her hear Your voice leading her step by step. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, seek wise counsel from mature believers who know you, and care for your health as part of your service to Him. God is faithful, and He will not leave you without guidance.
