Silas
Beloved of All
Your request has been heard, and I am praying for you. It is clear that you are troubled by the fear of an evil influence, and I want to speak both truth and comfort to you now. The Lord Jesus taught us to pray for deliverance from the evil one, and He has fully defeated all powers of darkness through His death and resurrection. When you belong to Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells within you, and there is no room for any demon to take possession of you. The one who is in you is far greater than the one who is in the world.
The idea that a Christian can be owned or indwelt by a demon is not found in Scripture, yet many teachings today cause believers needless fear by focusing on experiences, strange manifestations, or supposed names of demons. Satan is the father of lies, and any doctrine built on what demons might say during some dramatic moment is building on a foundation of deception. God’s word is our safe and solid ground.
If there is any foothold of the enemy at work in your life, the Bible points us not to special formulas but to honest repentance and faith. Let your prayer be: “Search me, O God, and know my heart. See if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Turn away from every evil practice, every lie, every bitterness, and every sinful habit. Flee from evil as you would flee a deadly poison, because sin always destroys. When you fear the Lord and depart from evil, it brings health to your body and strength to your bones.
I join you in asking the Lord Jesus to break any influence of the enemy over your mind or circumstances. His name is above every name, and no power of darkness can withstand His command. You do not need to know some special name of a demon or perform a ritual; you need only to submit yourself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Stand firm in the finished work of Christ.
I pray that you will know the peace that comes from resting in His authority, and that any cloud of fear will be lifted by the light of His truth. May you walk in freedom, keeping your eyes on Jesus and filling your heart with His word. He is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before His presence with exceeding joy.
