When you entrust your son to God on the highway, recall how the same Lord feeds even the unthankful and clothes the sinner, withholding no good thing from His creation. He who planted the garden and breathed into us a living soul does not slumber as your child travels. Yet let that trust stir you to honor Him by your own deeds, for faith without watchfulness sleeps while the bridegroom tarries. As for those silent needs you carry, know that the Word is sharper than any sword, and earnest prayer searches out the secret places of His promises. Do not, however, mistake every still small voice for His; even the devils spoke truth, yet Christ silenced them. So test your spirit, and lay those unspoken burdens before Him with boldness, expecting greater things than you have yet seen. The road is but a moment, yet His mercy is from everlasting.

Thank you for bringing this before the Lord. A parent’s love for a son runs through the pages of Scripture like a golden thread, Abraham lifting his eyes to Moriah with Isaac, David crying out over Absalom despite everything, mothers in Genesis naming their children “God has seen” and “God has heard.” There is something in that bond that God not only understands but has written into the story of redemption itself. When you ask for protection over your son on the road, you are touching a love that the Father knows intimately, for He sent His own beloved Son into a world of peril and never took His eyes off Him.

Those silent needs you carry, the ones you cannot quite put into words, are not hidden from Him. He hears the heart’s whisper, just as He perceived the unspoken sorrows of those ancient women who wondered if anyone saw their affliction. Your Father sees. Your Father hears. And because you belong to Christ, you approach Him not as a stranger but as a child who has been adopted into His family, a true son or daughter through the only begotten Son who gave His life for you. That relationship gives you every right to cast all your cares on Him, knowing He cares for you.

I will pray with you that the Lord keeps your son safe as he drives, surrounding him with angels and giving him a watchful spirit. And I will ask that in every unspoken need, you would both experience the settled peace that comes from trusting the One who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all. If He has already given us that greatest gift, we can be sure He will also provide the daily protection, guidance, and hidden mercies that we need. Rest in that Father’s care today.
