Please pray for ###'s marriage

My marriage is in turmoil and divorce is on the horizon, but that's not what I want, so I'm asking for prayers to cover my marriage and for restoration and healing. Thank you so much for your time <3

We come before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this marriage that is under such intense strain. The enemy seeks to destroy what God has joined together, but we know that our God is a God of restoration, redemption, and miracles. Marriage is a sacred covenant, established by God Himself, and He desires for it to reflect His love and faithfulness. As it is written in **Malachi 2:16**, *"For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel,* and in **Matthew 19:6**, *"So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart."*

Yet we also recognize that marriage requires two surrendered hearts. If there has been sin—whether unforgiveness, pride, adultery, or neglect—it must be repented of and turned away from. **Ephesians 4:31-32** commands us, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* If either spouse has hardened their heart or turned away from the Lord, we pray for conviction and repentance, for God to soften hearts and draw both back to Himself and to one another.

We also urge you, dear sister or brother, to examine your own heart before the Lord. Have you sought Him first in this struggle? Have you loved your spouse as Christ loves the church—sacrificially, patiently, and with grace? **1 Peter 4:8** reminds us, *"Above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins."* If there has been unforgiveness in your heart, release it now. If you have contributed to the brokenness, ask God to show you how to make it right. Pray *for* your spouse, not just *about* them. Ask God to give you His eyes to see them, His heart to love them, and His wisdom to know how to move forward.

If there has been infidelity or sexual sin, it must be confessed and turned from immediately. **Hebrews 13:4** states, *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* Restoration is possible, but it requires true repentance and a commitment to purity. If this is part of the struggle, we pray for the strength to walk in holiness and for God to rebuild trust where it has been broken.

Most importantly, we must remember that no marriage can be restored apart from Christ. You mentioned divorce is on the horizon, but your heart does not want that—praise God for that desire! Yet human effort alone cannot save a marriage. Only the Lord can heal what is broken. **Jeremiah 32:27** declares, *"Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?"* Nothing is impossible for Him. We claim that promise over this marriage today.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this marriage that is under attack. Lord, You are the God who restores, who heals, who redeems. We ask You to move mightily in this situation. Softens hearts that have grown hard. Break down walls of pride, bitterness, and unforgiveness. Convict where there is sin, and bring true repentance. Lord, if there has been infidelity, addiction, or any form of brokenness, we ask You to expose it, cleanse it, and bring healing.

Father, we pray for supernatural intervention. Turn the heart of the spouse who may be considering divorce. Give them a vision of what You can do if they will only surrender this marriage to You. Remind them of the covenant they made before You, and stir in them a desire to fight for restoration rather than give up. Lord, where there is pain, bring comfort. Where there is confusion, bring clarity. Where there is weakness, bring strength.

We rebuked the spirit of division and destruction that seeks to tear this marriage apart. Satan, you have no authority here. This marriage belongs to God, and we declare that what You have joined together, no man—or enemy—can separate. We speak life, hope, and reconciliation over this union. Let Your love flow between them, binding up wounds and restoring what has been lost.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom. Show this couple how to communicate in love, how to serve one another, and how to seek You first. If they need godly counsel, provide it. If they need to forgive, give them the grace to do so. If they need to rebuild trust, show them the steps to take.

Most of all, Father, draw both spouses closer to You. A marriage cannot thrive if Christ is not at the center. Let this trial drive them to their knees, where they will find You waiting with open arms. Remind them that You are their hope, their healer, and their redeemer.

We thank You in advance for the miracle You are going to do. We trust in Your timing and Your ways, even when we cannot see the path forward. Let Your will be done, and let Your name be glorified through this marriage.

In the powerful and saving name of Jesus we pray, **Amen.**

Finally, we encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture, especially passages about love, forgiveness, and marriage (e.g., **Ephesians 5:22-33, Colossians 3:12-19, 1 Corinthians 13**). Fast and pray for your spouse, even if they are not yet praying for themselves. Seek godly counsel from a pastor or biblical counselor who can walk with you through this. And most importantly, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. He is the author and perfecter of your faith, and He is able to do far more than you could ever ask or imagine (**Ephesians 3:20**).

Do not lose hope. God is at work, even when you cannot see it. Trust Him, obey Him, and watch what He will do.

We're standing with you, dear friend, in this storm. We know it's tough, but remember, God is in the business of turning messes into masterpieces. He's not surprised by your situation, and He's more than able to restore what's broken. Let's claim that promise together, shall we? "Nothing is impossible for me," says the Lord (Jeremiah 32:27). So, let's pray.

Dear Lord, we lift up this marriage to You. We ask for a supernatural intervention, a softening of hearts, a breaking down of walls. Convict where there's sin, Lord, and bring true repentance. If there's been infidelity or addiction, expose it, cleanse it, and bring healing. Give them a vision of what You can do if they surrender this marriage to You. Stir in them a desire to fight for restoration, not give up.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
