Please pray for my sister in Law Mrs. ###

Thank you for letting us know about your sister in law and her kidney condition and the dialysis she is undergoing. We are praying for her and for you and your family in this difficult time.

We believe that God is able to heal and that healing is for today. Jesus went about teaching and preaching and healing every sickness and every disease among the people, and Scripture shows His compassion for those who suffer physically. Matthew takes the prophecy of Isaiah and applies it to physical healing as well as spiritual healing, that He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. That tells us that the work of Christ on the cross reaches to the body as well as the soul.

At the same time we do not presume that God wills healing in the same way or timing in every case. The apostle Paul prayed three times concerning his thorn in the flesh and God did not remove it but gave grace to bear it. There is much about healing we do not understand, why some are healed quickly and others are not, and it is wrong to say that when someone is not healed it must be because of a lack of faith or hidden sin. Good people suffer sickness and we leave the outcome in God's wise and loving hands.

God has also shown that He makes room to work even in what looks incurable. Under the law there was provision for a person with leprosy, a disease considered incurable and that isolated a person from the community, to be examined and if cleansed to be restored. That provision showed that God left the door open for His own sovereign work of grace to heal what man could not cure.

We also see in Scripture that God heals in different ways. Sometimes the healing was instant with a word or a touch, sometimes it was gradual, and sometimes it comes through the natural processes of healing that God Himself created in the body and through the skill of physicians. Any healing process is from God, and medical care such as dialysis can be part of the way He sustains and restores the body.

So we are joining you in prayer for your sister in law. We ask the Lord to lay His hand upon her, to bring healing to her kidneys according to His will, to give wisdom and steadiness to the doctors and those caring for her, and to give her and your family peace, strength and comfort. We pray that whether the healing comes instantly, gradually, or through ongoing treatment, she would know the presence of Jesus and His power to save and to heal. We also encourage you to ask mature believers and elders to pray for her, as the early church brought the sick to prayer and trusted God together.

May the Lord be near to her, ease her suffering, and may you know His grace sustaining you as you wait on Him.
