We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your husband in prayer. It is never easy to see a loved one suffer, especially when it is the first illness since your marriage—a sacred union blessed by God. We stand with you in faith, trusting in the Great Physician, who heals all our diseases (Psalm 103:2-3). The symptoms you describe—fever, shivering, and a productive cough—are indeed concerning, but we know that our God is greater than any sickness or affliction.
Father God, we ask You to stretch forth Your healing hand over this dear brother in Christ. If it is Your will, restore him to full health, strengthen his body, and ease his discomfort. We declare that by the stripes of Jesus, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we claim that promise over him now. Lord, we also pray for wisdom for those who may be caring for him—whether it be medical professionals or family—to act in accordance with Your will and guidance. Protect him from further complications and grant him rest as his body fights this illness.
We also want to encourage you both in this time. Marriage is a covenant, and sickness is an opportunity to demonstrate the love and commitment you pledged before God. Serve one another in humility, just as Christ served the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Lean on the Lord together, for He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). This trial, though difficult, can draw you closer to each other and to the Lord if you allow it.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and healed. Lord, we lift up this husband to You, asking for Your divine touch. If it is Your will, remove this sickness from him and restore him to health. We rebuke any spirit of infirmity in Jesus’ name, for Your Word declares that the prayer of faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will raise them up (James 5:15). Strengthen his immune system, Lord, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We also pray for his wife, Lord. Give her strength, patience, and unwavering faith as she cares for her husband. Remind them both of Your promises and fill their home with Your presence. May this trial refine their faith and deepen their trust in You. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Hold fast to the truth that God is with you, even in this valley. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). May His peace and healing power surround you both.
