We lift up your friend together before the Lord and we thank you for bringing this need to us so we can seek God's will together in Jesus' name.
We are moved by your love and concern for your friend and we join you in asking for the Lord's healing hand and sustaining grace upon them. We know that God cares deeply for our suffering and that He is our healer and our strength. Scripture reminds us of His compassion, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. And we cling to His promise, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. We also take comfort that we do not have to be afraid, for He says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

Your bringing of your friend before the mercy seat is a tender and Christlike work, and it is to be commended. Intercessory prayer has been practiced by all the best of God's saints, and it is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for the prayer of Christ Himself is of this character, He ever liveth to make intercession for us.
Be encouraged that such prayer is exceedingly prevalent. It has stayed plagues and it has raised the dead, for Elias stretched himself upon the child and the child's soul returned. What wonders it has wrought we cannot fully tell, but eternity shall reveal how many souls and bodies have been restored through its instrumentality. It also benefits those who use it, for prayer is a wondrous blender of hearts and a mighty creator of love, it knits our hearts together as the heart of one man.
You do well to pray for the health of your friend, for there is one great Physician who lays His hands on men and they are restored, and there is but one. Jesus Christ is the Tree of Life whose leaves are for the healing of the nations. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the little things about Christ are full of healing virtue. There grows no healing herb but the one plant of renown, and the sacred fountain opened on Calvary is the only fountain in which to wash and be made whole. Until the glory life begins, the abiding power of those healing leaves keeps the soul and body of the believer under His care, world without end.
Remember also that humility is the fit attitude of prayer. You need not frame fine words or bend the knee in a certain place, but let your heart go up to God just where you are. God will hear the prayer of a staggering man, even the prayer that seems to reel to and fro when the petitioner is at his wit's end. Come then as a sinner pleading with the Most High, spreading the case before Him and pressing your suit with humble arguments drawn from His own mercy and promises.
And take comfort that in praying for your friend you are bringing him to the Friend that sticketh closer than a brother. There is a Friend who loves at all times, born into this world that He might succor us in our adversities. He is the sinner's Friend who gave His heart's blood, and He will not forsake those who are brought to Him in prayer. If you have spoken with Him yourself, you know He is your own Friend, and you may bring your friend to Him with confidence.
Let us pray together for him.
O Lord our God, Thou art the Good Physician whose power to heal has never failed. Look in mercy upon this dear one for whom our heart makes supplication. Lay Thy hand upon him and restore him according to Thy gracious will. Forgive his sins, quiet his fears, and let the healing virtue of Christ, the Tree of Life, be applied to his body and soul. Give wisdom to those who care for him, give peace to those who love him, and grant that whether in sickness or in health he may know that Jesus is his own Friend who loveth at all times. Hear the humble cry of intercession, not for our worthiness but for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we plead. Amen.
Continue steadfastly in this blessed exercise. The bow in the cloud and the dove bearing the olive branch are signs that God has heard and will answer in the way that is best, for His love and wisdom are infinite.
