That fear gripping you right now is powerful, isn't it? The uncertainty, the threat to something as precious as your sight, it can feel like a wave crashing over you, making your heart sink. In moments like these, the natural instinct is to look at the problem, to fixate on the symptoms and the terrifying possibilities. But that very fixation is what feeds the fear until it swallows up our faith.
The way out of that spiral begins not by ignoring the threat, but by shifting your focus. Remember the Lord. That's the cure for fear. When we get our eyes off our turbulent circumstances and fix them on Jesus, the fear begins to lose its grip. Think of Him not as a distant figure, but as the one who holds all authority over the physical realm, who calmed seas and healed countless broken bodies with a touch or a word. His compassion is not out of reach; He hears you when you cry out to Him.
There is a kind of fear that actually drives out the frantic terror you're feeling. It's the reverential awe of God, standing in wonder of His greatness, His power, and His tender care for you. This isn't a phobia; it's the beginning of wisdom. It’s a settled, deep confidence that says, "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?" When that reverential awe fills your heart, there’s less room for the panic. Faith and that kind of gripping fear cannot share the same space. As you choose to trust in His strength, the power of the fear that haunts you starts to diminish.
Now, what about the healing you long for? The Gospels show us Jesus healing in so many ways. Sometimes it was instantaneous, with just a word. Sometimes it was gradual, requiring another touch. Sometimes the healing He performed was not only physical but deeply emotional, a calming of the mind and sewing up of the inner scars. We may not understand why healings come in different ways or different times, but any process of restoration is divine. Even now, the peace that stills your racing heart, the courage to face another day, that is a form of His healing at work in your mind right now.
Do not let the enemy use this fear to drive you into wrong reactions or a place of despair. Take the wise and prudent steps to seek care, absolutely, but do so from a place of trust, not panic. God's protection for you doesn't require you to hide away in fear. He is your confidence, and He can keep your foot from being taken.
So let us agree together right now. I pray for you, asking the Great Physician to touch your eyes. Lord, in Your mercy, halt the progression of whatever is afflicting them, and bring restoration and clear vision. But even more than that, in this very moment, let Your perfect love cast out the terror. Be the peace that steadies this precious soul. Remind them that they are seen and held by You, and that there is no want for those who reverence You. We look to You, Jesus, the author of all healing. Amen.
