PLEASE PRAY FOR ME, I FEEL LIKE I MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE

Humble Prayer Partner
I am emotionally struggling and need as many prayers as possible please. Please pray for a man I recently met named ### that I met through my sister and brother in law. He and I met about 2 weeks ago. Saturday night we attended a cookout together and we made plans to get together Sunday. Sunday morning I sent him a text message that I would call him after church. He said okay. Around 1 pm I called him but the voicemail was not set up, I follow up with a text message about an hour later, still no response. I became extremely concerned that something might have happened to him. He called me around 8 pm saying he had a headache and had been sleep all day. I automatically didn't believe him, and told him I was sorry he was sick but he could have sent a quick text message or phone call saying he could not make our date. He apologized but I still didn't believe him. The next morning he sent me a Good morning text. I was still angry and felt I no longer wanted to see him. So I sent him this text on Monday...
"Hi ###, I was very concerned about you yesterday. I know you mentioned you were sick but I didn't know that until last night. I hope you're feeling better today, but it would have been appreciated if you would have sent me a text or phone call letting me know the situation. Communication is very important and I don't think we're looking for the same thing, or right fit for each other. I genuinely wish you the best, goodbye."
I feel absolutely horrible about sending that text when I was angry. He really could have been sick, I don't definitively know.
I ask all of you to please pray that ### will forgive me and reach out to me to start over.
I had been upset since I was threatened by a mental client over the phone on Friday, only my company knew but not my family, nor ### who is my brother in law's cousin.
Please pray that God will bring ### back to me. I really didn't give him a chance to know him. I am guilt ridden for sending that text. Please pray.

We hear your heart and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord, for we know you are emotionally struggling, feeling guilt and regret over words spoken in anger, and we want to seek God's will together with you in Jesus' name.

We understand you sent a message ending the courtship with this man after he did not respond for many hours, and now you feel horrible and wonder if you judged him too harshly when he said he was sick with a headache. The Word tells us Everyone should be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20. We gently rebuke the haste and anger in that moment, not to condemn you, but because Scripture also says Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath Ephesians 4:26 and A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger Proverbs 15:1. When we allow anxiety or hurt to control our words, we do not extend the grace we ourselves need. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things 1 Corinthians 13:7, and part of love in courtship is believing the best and giving room for grace, especially so early in getting to know one another.

We also see you are carrying guilt and asking us to pray that he will forgive you and reach out to start over. We encourage you to take responsibility before the Lord and before him. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1, so we encourage you not to remain guilt ridden after you have repented, but to walk in the forgiveness Christ gives. At the same time, we encourage you to humbly reach out yourself to ask his forgiveness, rather than only waiting for him to come to you. Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do Colossians 3:13. A sincere, brief apology that owns the hasty judgment without demanding a response honors God, and then you can trust the outcome to Him. We pray for this man as well, that God would work in his heart and give him grace to forgive if it is God's will for you to continue getting to know each other.

We want to speak to your desire for this relationship. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we view being a boyfriend or girlfriend as courtship with the goal being marriage to another Christian believer. If you continue to get to know this man, we pray it would be with that godly purpose, pursuing a relationship that aligns with biblical principles, keeping yourselves pure and honoring God, for sex before or outside marriage is fornication and does not honor Him. Pray together about whether you both know Christ and are seeking a marriage that honors Him. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28, so even this mistake can be redeemed for good if you surrender it to Him.

We also notice the extra burden you have been carrying since being threatened by a client on Friday, which you had not shared with your family. That kind of fear can leave us raw and quick to react. We encourage you to share this with trusted family and godly counsel, and to cast your cares on Him. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Do not carry this alone.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is through believing in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are saved and our prayers are heard. We encourage you to place your trust fully in Him.

We pray together with you now. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up our sister to You. Lord, forgive her for words spoken in anger and haste, wash her with Your mercy, and lift this heavy guilt from her heart. Grant her Your peace that surpasses understanding after the threat she endured, comfort her anxious heart, and help her to share her burdens with those You have placed around her. Father, we pray for this man she has met, that You would give him a forgiving heart and that Your will would be done in this courtship. If it is Your will for them to continue getting to know each other toward a godly marriage, make a way for reconciliation and teach them both patience, clear communication, and grace. If not, give her peace to accept Your perfect plan and prepare her for a godly spouse who loves You. Help them both to seek You first and to pursue purity and holiness. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

Thank you for sharing so honestly with us. We can hear how heavy this feels, carrying worry about and guilt about the text you sent, especially right after a frightening threat at work on Friday. When you have already been shaken, a day of silence can feel much bigger and it makes sense that your concern turned quickly to hurt and anger.

It is understandable you wish you had responded differently, and that wish shows you care about treating others well. Guilt after a quick decision often lingers even after we have owned it, and learning to separate a decision to do what is right from the slower easing of those feelings can take time. Forgiveness and reconciliation are also not the same thing, you can seek to make peace for your part while leaving the outcome of the relationship in God's hands.

What may help in the next few days is to give space rather than pressing for an immediate answer. If you sense peace about it, one brief, kind note owning that you reacted out of stress without putting pressure on him to respond can be enough, and then let him decide his next step. It would also be good to talk with someone safe, your sister, a pastor, or a trusted support at work, about how unsettling Friday's call was, so you are not carrying that alone.

Father, we bring our sister to You and ask for Your calm over her anxious thoughts and guilt. Help her to rest in Your grace, to receive and extend forgiveness as You lead, and to trust Your direction for this new friendship whether it continues or not. Give her wisdom, healing from the stress of this week, and peace in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your heart is heavy with guilt and anxiety, and it is right to bring that burden honestly before the Lord. The distress you felt while waiting, compounded by the threatening call you received at work the day before, helps to explain the strain you were under, though it does not remove the sorrow you now feel over words spoken in anger.

Hear this truth first, for it is the foundation of all peace. There is forgiveness with God. As it is written, there is forgiveness, and that forgiveness is to be found with Him through Jesus Christ His Son. It is a divine forgiveness, a surprising forgiveness, a complete forgiveness. God forgives not because our sorrow is perfect, but for His own sake, because of the matchless atonement of Christ who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. If you tremble under a sense of guilt and desire forgiveness with a penitent heart, you may come to Him now. Whatever your sins have been, there is forgiveness with Him, and that forgiveness is present at this moment for all who trust in Christ.

And when guilt is forgiven, the Spirit works to remove guile. The forgiven soul no longer strains to hide or excuse itself, but confesses freely before God and humbles itself. You have done well to see your hasty text for what it was, words written while angry and distrustful, and to acknowledge that you judged another's word without certainty. Bring that sin, as all sin, to the Lord in confession. Believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself through Christ, and know that His forgiveness is not only for the first moment of faith but continues daily, and is an eternal forgiveness. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He does not forgive and afterwards accuse.

From that place of receiving mercy, you are then called to show mercy. The pattern set before us is, even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. This means a hearty and true forgiveness toward others, and also a humble willingness to seek forgiveness when we have wronged another. If you have wronged this man by speaking too quickly and in anger, it is right before God to confess that fault to him humbly and plainly, without demanding a particular outcome. A simple and sincere apology that owns your part, asks his pardon, and leaves him free before the Lord is the honest path. It is not Godlike to say, I will ask forgiveness only if he will give me what I desire in return. God is first in devising means to restore, and we are to imitate Him by taking the low place.

Yet you must also entrust the outcome to the Lord's wisdom and not to guilt. It is understandable to wish that he would reach out and that all might start over, but prayer is not a means to compel another person's will, nor a guarantee that God will grant a specific relationship. Pray instead that God's will be done in both your lives, that He would be glorified, and that you both would be led in His perfect way. If the Lord intends a future for you to know one another, He is able to devise means to bring it to pass. His providence works through many wheels within wheels, through ordinary events and even disappointments, to restore and to guide. Your part is to be faithful, truthful, and patient, and to leave the result in His hands.

Therefore let us pray together, not that God would merely fulfill our wishes, but that He would grant His mercy and His guidance.

Our Father, we thank You that there is forgiveness with You, through the blood of Jesus Christ. We confess our sins and our hasty judgments, our anger and our unbelief, and we ask for Your complete pardon for Christ's sake. Wash away guilt and take away guile, and give a humble and truthful spirit. Grant peace to this troubled heart that has been shaken by threats and by fear, and let Your perfect love cast out fear. Give wisdom to speak and to act with grace, and to seek forgiveness where we have done wrong, without manipulation or demand. We ask for Your healing and care for this man, if he was indeed ill, and we ask that You would work in both lives according to Your good and sovereign will. Lead each one to seek You first, to trust in Christ alone for salvation, and to walk in purity and honour. If it be Your will that these two should know one another further, make the way plain in Your time. If not, grant contentment and growth in godliness, and keep both from sin. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who is our only hope. Amen.

Seek the Lord daily in His Word and in prayer, and seek the counsel of your family and of faithful believers in your church who know you. Be slow to speak and quick to hear, and let communication be seasoned with grace and truth. Whether this acquaintance continues or not, let your chief desire be to be found in Christ, forgiven, and made new by His Spirit. There your blessedness will be secure, whatever God in His wisdom ordains for tomorrow.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your willingness to share this so honestly shows a tender conscience, and I want to pray with you in this time of distress and regret.

It is understandable that you felt anxious when you did not hear back from him, especially after the frightening threat you received at work on Friday. Carrying that stress alone without telling your family would make any silence feel more alarming, and it is human to react strongly when worry and exhaustion build up. It is also good that you can now look back and see that your message was sent while you were still angry and hurting, and that you are willing to question whether you judged his explanation too quickly.

Scripture speaks of two kinds of sorrow. One is a godly sorrow that leads to repentance and to healing, a repentance which brings no regret because it turns us toward God and toward what is right. The other is a sorrow that only crushes us with guilt and steals our peace. What you are feeling now seems to be a mix of both. Conviction that helps you see where you may have acted hastily can be fruitful if it leads you to seek forgiveness and to grow in patience and grace. But remaining guilt ridden and replaying the text over and over will not help you or honor God, who offers forgiveness and reconciliation through Christ to all who come to Him.

We can thank God that He is the one who brings reconciliation. As we have been forgiven much, we are also taught to have a gentle and human soul toward others, to forgive and to seek forgiveness where we can. That forgiveness is first found in Christ, who took our sins upon Himself to make peace between us and God, and from that peace we learn how to deal with one another.

I will pray for you, and I encourage you to bring these burdens to the Lord in this way.

Father, we thank You for Your mercy that covers our sins and removes our shame. We ask that You would grant this sister Your peace that passes understanding, and lift the weight of crushing guilt. Help her to receive Your forgiveness in Christ and to rest in Your care after the fear she experienced last week. Give her wisdom and calmness of heart, and teach her to cast all her anxiety on You because You care for her. If there is a need to ask forgiveness of this man, give her humble and clear words without demanding a particular outcome, and give him grace to receive it as You lead. Above all, we ask not for our own will but for Yours to be done. If it is good and according to Your wisdom for this acquaintance to continue and grow toward knowing one another better within Your good design for relationships between a man and a woman leading toward marriage, we ask You to make that clear. If not, we ask You to guard both hearts, bring healing, and lead each of them in the path that brings You glory and their lasting good. Help her to walk in community, to share her burdens with trusted family or a pastor or counselor, and to grow in communication that is patient, truthful and kind. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our reconciliation. Amen.

If you have not already, consider sharing with a trusted pastor, counselor, or mature family member not only about this situation with this man, but also about the threat you received at work, so you are not carrying that alone. Give yourself time to pray and seek counsel before deciding on any further contact, and if you do reach out to apologize, keep it brief, sincere, and free from pressure for him to respond in a certain way. Then entrust the outcome to the Lord, who loves you and will lead you step by step.
