Please pray for me brothers and sisters

You feel a hardness creeping over your soul, but do not imagine that adding sin to sin will hide the wound. It only exposes it, just as when Herod sought to conceal his adultery by imprisoning John, and then by slaying him, the crime was shouted more loudly. Sin is not covered by sin, but by repentance and confession.

Look at Peter. After his denial, he went out and wept bitterly. That was repentance as it ought to be, and even a fall so great was forgiven him. But Esau also wept, and yet found no place of repentance, because his sorrow was not the sorrow of true turning. His tears were not repentance, for his heart still plotted murder, saying, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother.” So examine the very core of your grief. Let it be not only tears, but a whole rending of the will.

Bind your heart and mind. It is not chains of iron I lay upon you, but a spiritual binding. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind: a sobriety that cuts off superfluities and sobers the soul when evil befalls. Ask Him for that sound mind, and let your inner man be bound fast to His mercy.

Remember who it is you approach. John the Baptist cried, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” He who needed no repentance came to baptism to fulfill all righteousness. Your sin, however great, is not beyond His bearing. But tell your offenses in particular, that you may know what you have been forgiven, and so become grateful to your Benefactor.

Hold fast the form of sound words you have heard, the pattern of faith and love in Christ Jesus. The good thing committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in you. And do not think that repentance is shut out. The door stands open, and He will renew you, if you will turn with your whole heart.

The very ache in your words tells me that the Spirit is not finished with you. A heart completely hardened would not cry out for a sound mind or fresh repentance. That you are troubled by this numbness is itself a mercy. The law of sin and death wants to lull us into indifference, but there is a greater law at work: the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, and it sets us free.

When you say you feel less convicted, remember that guilt alone is not repentance. The law was given to show us what sin is, but it cannot make us alive. Real repentance is a turning away, and only the Spirit can grant that gift. Yet He is willing. The same Jesus who came to destroy the works of the devil intercedes for you now. His blood does not merely cover sin; it puts it away entirely. Because of that offering, there is no condemnation for those who are in Him. A sound mind begins right there: not in perfect feelings, but in the settled truth that your righteousness before God rests on Christ alone, not on the fragile state of your emotions.

Be sober about the hardening you describe. Scripture shows us that a person can harden his heart so many times that he is eventually strengthened in that direction, like Pharaoh. But you are not there. The grief over selfishness, the hunger for restoration, those are signs of a heart that has not been abandoned. Confess the sin plainly, then let your mind be renewed. The carnal mind is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. Feed your spirit with the Word. Hide it in your heart, because that is the secret of overcoming the enemy when he comes. The enemy steals, but the Good Shepherd restores the years the locusts have eaten. The abundant life Jesus gives is not the absence of struggle; it is union with Him, walking in agreement with God.

Take your eyes off your own failures for a moment. Esteem others better. When we are swallowed by self-examination, we sink deeper. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: He humbled Himself, even to death on a cross. That same humble love is poured into your heart by the Spirit. You ask for a sound mind? It is a mind stayed on Him, at peace not because the battle is over, but because the Victor lives in you. I know what it is to feel conviction pierce even while speaking truth. But the King is patient. His kindness leads us to repentance. Do not delay. Turn from whatever you know to be sin, and trust that He who began a good work in you will complete it. You are not the sum of your selfishness. You are a child in whom a new nature dwells, and that nature cannot practice sin as a settled way of life. Rise, washed and forgiven. Walk in the freedom for which Christ set you free. I am praying with you for that full restoration.

We want you to know how deeply we’ve been lifting you up before the Lord these past days. Your honesty about feeling hardened and distant from conviction touched our hearts, and we’ve been praying specifically for God to soften your spirit, to flood you with His mercy, and to grant you true repentance that leads to restoration. We’ve asked Him to break every chain the enemy has used to steal your joy, your peace, and the abundant life Christ died to give you.

We’re standing in agreement with you for a sound mind—one filled with clarity, humility, and the assurance of His forgiveness. We’ve also prayed for the years the locusts have eaten to be redeemed, trusting that God is not just able to restore, but eager to do so for His glory. Your sorrow over selfishness has not fallen on deaf ears; we’ve asked the Lord to replace that burden with the freedom of His grace and the strength to walk in it.

If you’ve sensed any shift in your heart or circumstances since you posted, we’d be so encouraged to hear about it—your praise report could be a blessing to many. If you’re still waiting, please don’t hesitate to share this request again. We’re committed to continuing in prayer with you, trusting that God is at work even when we can’t see it.

May He draw you closer, renew your hope, and fill you with the fullness of His love as you press into Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
