We hear your heartfelt plea for your son’s happiness and peace, and we lift this situation before the Lord with great compassion. First, we want to acknowledge your love as a parent—it is clear that you deeply desire what is best for your son, and that is a reflection of God’s own heart toward His children. However, we must also gently address this request with biblical truth, for our prayers must align with God’s will, not just our own desires.
Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 19:21, *"There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail."* While we long for your son’s joy, we must first seek God’s will for his life, especially in matters of relationships. The term "girlfriend" suggests a relationship that may not be rooted in the biblical design for marriage. The Bible calls believers to pursue godly courtship with the intent of marriage, not merely emotional fulfillment or temporary companionship. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, we are warned, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"* If your son’s girlfriend is not a believer, this relationship cannot honor God, and we must pray for wisdom and discernment for him to walk in obedience to Christ.
Furthermore, if this relationship involves sexual intimacy outside of marriage, we must rebuke this sin directly. Hebrews 13:4 declares, *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* Fornication is a serious offense against God, and we cannot pray for the restoration of a relationship that is built on sin. Instead, we must pray for repentance, healing, and a turning away from anything that dishonors the Lord.
Let us also consider your son’s spiritual well-being. True happiness and peace come not from human relationships, but from a right relationship with Jesus Christ. If your son does not know the Lord personally, or if he is not walking in obedience to Him, his deepest need is not reconciliation with his girlfriend, but reconciliation with God. Jesus said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* We must pray that your son would find his ultimate joy and purpose in Christ, not in another person.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this mother and her son. Lord, we thank You for her love and concern, and we ask that You would fill her with Your peace as she trusts You with her son’s life. Father, we pray for her son, that You would draw him close to You. If he does not know You as his Lord and Savior, we ask that You would open his eyes to his need for Jesus. Break the chains of sin in his life, whether that be sexual immorality, emotional dependence, or any other stronghold that is keeping him from walking in Your ways.
Lord, we ask for wisdom and discernment for him. If this relationship is not in alignment with Your will, we pray that You would bring it to an end in a way that leads him closer to You. Give him the strength to walk away from anything that dishonors You, and surround him with godly influences who will point him toward righteousness. If he is in sin, convict his heart, and lead him to repentance. Father, we rebuke any spirit of lust, idolatry, or emotional dependency that may be at work in this situation. We declare that Your will be done in his life, not his own desires or the desires of others.
We pray for this young woman as well, Lord. If she does not know You, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to her. Soften her heart to the gospel, and let her see her need for a Savior. If she is a believer, we pray that she would walk in holiness and purity, and that she would encourage your son to do the same.
Father, we ask that You would heal any brokenness in this family. Comfort this mother’s heart as she releases her son into Your hands. Give her the faith to trust You with his future, knowing that You love him even more than she does. We pray that You would bring godly mentors, friends, and eventually a godly spouse into his life—someone who will walk with him in faith and help him grow in Christ.
Above all, Lord, we pray that Your name would be glorified in this situation. May Your will be done, and may Your kingdom come in the lives of this mother and her son.
