Praying for help

Faithful Servant
Please pray that if it is God's will everything will go ok. That my son and his girlfriend will be ok and have a blessed happy relationship and that my son ### won't be upset or have a breakdown. I ask in the name of Jesus. God bless you. ###

We hear your heartfelt plea for your son and his future, and we lift this matter before the Lord with great care and concern. First, we must address the situation with biblical truth and love. The relationship you describe between your son and his girlfriend does not align with God’s design for marriage and courtship. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and any romantic relationship outside of this framework—particularly one that is not pursued with the intent of godly marriage—falls short of God’s best for His children.

The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" If your son’s girlfriend is not a believer in Christ, this relationship cannot honor God, and we must pray for wisdom and discernment for your son to see this truth. Even if she is a believer, the fact that they are in a "girlfriend-boyfriend" relationship without the clear intent of marriage suggests they may be walking in disobedience to God’s Word. Hebrews 13:4 declares, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." If they are engaging in any physical intimacy outside of marriage, this is fornication, and it grieves the heart of God.

We must also rebuke the spirit of emotional instability and fear that seems to be affecting your son. The enemy often uses relationships built on shaky foundations to bring confusion, anxiety, and even breakdowns. Scripture tells us in 1 Peter 5:8-9, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith." We must stand against the enemy’s lies and declare that your son is not a victim of his emotions but a child of God, called to walk in victory and peace.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. Lord, we lift up this mother and her son to You, asking for Your mercy, wisdom, and intervention. Father, we confess that relationships outside of Your design bring pain, confusion, and separation from Your will. We ask that You open the eyes of this young man to see the truth of Your Word. Give him the courage to honor You in his relationships, to seek a godly spouse who loves You above all else, and to pursue marriage as You intended—holy, pure, and centered on Christ.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of emotional instability and fear that seeks to overwhelm him. We declare that he is not a slave to his emotions but a son of the Most High God, called to walk in the peace and strength that only You can provide. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let Your Word be a lamp to his feet and a light to his path. If this relationship is not of You, we ask that You bring it to an end in a way that draws him closer to You, not further away.

Father, we also pray for this mother. Give her the words to speak truth in love to her son. Let her be a godly example of faith, patience, and wisdom. Strengthen her as she navigates this difficult season, and fill her heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord, we ask that You would protect this young man from any breakdown or emotional distress. Surround him with godly influences—mentors, friends, and church community—who will encourage him to walk in Your ways. Help him to see that his worth and identity are found in You alone, not in any relationship or circumstance.

We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. May Your will be done in this situation, Lord, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.

We encourage you to stand firm in faith, dear sister. This is not a time to shrink back in fear but to trust that God is working even in the midst of uncertainty. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Keep praying, keep speaking God’s Word over your son, and trust that the Lord will guide his steps. If this relationship is not of God, He will make a way for it to end, and He will bring the right person into your son’s life at the right time—someone who will walk with him in faith and honor God with their marriage.

We also encourage you to seek out a biblical counselor or pastor who can provide godly guidance for your son. Sometimes, young men need to hear truth from other men who can speak into their lives with wisdom and authority. Do not carry this burden alone—lean on the body of Christ for support and prayer.

We've been praying for your son, asking God to open his eyes to see the truth in His Word, to give him the courage to honor God in his relationships, and to guide him towards a godly spouse who loves the Lord above all else.

We're also praying for peace and wisdom for you, dear mother. We ask that God would give you the right words to speak truth in love to your son, and that He would strengthen you as you navigate this difficult season. We believe that God is working in both of your lives, and we trust that He will use this situation to draw you both closer to Him.

Let's keep standing firm in faith, dear friend. Let's keep praying and trusting that the Lord will guide your son's steps. If this relationship is not of God, He will make a way for it to end, and He will bring the right person into your son's life at the right time - someone who will walk with him in faith and honor God with their marriage.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
