Please pray for ### and our family

Disciple of Prayer
I have to care for my mom who has dementia but everyday she gets upset and tells me to go. Another option is putting her in a home or assisted living. She wants to stay home and I am fine staying with her. Please pray about the whole situation.

We hear your heart and the weight of this tender, yet challenging season you are walking through. Caring for a parent with dementia is a profound act of love, but it is also one that tests patience, strength, and faith daily. We stand with you in prayer, lifting up both you and your mother before the Lord, asking for His wisdom, grace, and peace to cover this situation.

The Word of God tells us in 1 Timothy 5:8, "But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever." You are honoring this scripture by choosing to care for your mother, and your willingness to walk this path with her is a testament to your love and faithfulness. Yet, we also recognize the emotional toll it takes when the one you are serving expresses frustration or even rejection. It is painful to hear her say she wants you to go, but we must remember that dementia often distorts reality, and her words may not reflect her true heart. In these moments, we are reminded of Proverbs 15:1, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Even when her words are sharp, responding with gentleness and love can diffuse tension and honor the Lord.

We also want to acknowledge the difficult consideration of assisted living or a care home. This is not a decision to be made lightly, and we encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance earnestly. James 1:5 assures us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." We pray that God would make His will clear to you—whether that is continuing to care for her at home with additional support or transitioning her to a place where her needs can be met more fully. There is no shame in either choice, for both require sacrifice and love.

We must also lift up your own heart in this. Caregiving can be isolating, and it is easy to neglect your own spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being. Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." You cannot pour from an empty cup, and we encourage you to carve out time for rest, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Galatians 6:2 instructs us, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." You do not have to carry this alone—lean on your church family, trusted friends, and most importantly, the Lord.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister and her mother. Lord, we ask for Your peace to fill their home, even in the midst of confusion and frustration. We pray for patience, strength, and wisdom for this caregiver, that she would feel Your presence and guidance in every decision. Father, we ask that You would soften her mother’s heart and mind, that moments of clarity and love would break through the fog of dementia. We also pray for wisdom regarding the future—whether to continue caring for her at home or to seek additional help. Lord, make Your will clear, and give peace in the waiting.

We ask for protection over this family’s emotional and spiritual well-being. Guard their hearts against bitterness, resentment, or exhaustion. Provide opportunities for rest and renewal, and surround them with a community that can support and uplift them. Father, we also pray for healing—whether physical healing for the mother or emotional healing for this daughter. Let Your love be their anchor in this storm.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily, laying this burden at His feet. Psalm 55:22 reminds us, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." You are not alone in this, and we are standing with you in prayer and support. If there are specific ways we can pray for you moving forward, do not hesitate to share them. May God’s grace sustain you both.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please Heavenly Father grant this loved one wisdom and strength to care for her mom, and grant her peace of mind. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

We're right here with you, sister. We've been thinking about you and your mom, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this. It's such a tender time, isn't it? The love you show in caring for your mom is a beautiful reflection of God's love for us.

We've been praying for you both, asking God for His peace to fill your home, for wisdom in every decision, and for His healing touch on your mom's mind. We've also been praying for you, dear one, that you would feel God's strength and guidance in every step you take. We know it's hard when she says she wants you to go, but remember, dementia can be confusing. Even in those moments, we can respond with gentleness and love, just like the Proverbs tell us.

We've also been thinking about the future. Whether you continue caring for her at home or look into assisted living, we know God will guide you. He promises in His Word to give wisdom generously, and we trust that He'll make His will clear to you.

Please, keep resting in God's love. It's okay to lean on your church family, friends, and even professional help. You can't pour from an empty cup, so make sure to take care of yourself too. We're here for you, and we'll keep praying for you both. If there's anything specific you'd like us to pray for, just let us know. You're in our hearts, and we're standing with you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand alongside you in prayer for ### and your family during this tender season. Caring for a parent with dementia is a daily act of love, yet we know the weight of those moments when she asks you to leave—how deeply that must stir your spirit even as you choose to stay. You are honoring her wishes with such faithfulness, and we continue to lift you both before the Lord.

Father, we ask You to surround this family with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Strengthen ###’s heart when the days feel long, and remind her often of Your presence in the quiet, in the frustration, and in the small mercies. We pray for wisdom as they navigate this path—whether it leads to continued care at home or a different season ahead. Soften every hard conversation, open doors for support, and let Your love be the steady foundation they lean on.

If You have already moved in ways we cannot yet see, would You make that clear to them? And if the journey still feels uncertain, we ask that You meet them there with fresh grace. May they feel Your nearness in tangible ways—through a kind word, a moment of clarity, or the strength to keep going.

We stand with you still, trusting God’s faithfulness. If you’d like to share an update or need renewed prayer, we’re here. May His comfort and guidance be your portion today and always, in Jesus’ Name.
