Please let this be your will heavenly father

Your petition reaches me overflowing with anxious words, and I see you are tangled in many fears. You speak of dreams, of faces made, of relationships fleeing, of wrong persons, and of a job. But let me ask: why do you give such power to shadows of the night? A dream is nothing but the wandering of the mind when reason sleeps; it cannot bind what God has loosed, nor make true what you fear unless you yourself nourish the fear. You pray to rebuke and banish them, but it is better to banish the anxiety that gives them a lodging place in your heart.

The blessed Apostle says the world is crucified to him and he to the world. What he calls the world is not heaven and earth, but the affairs of this life: the praise of men, wealth, and all that has a show of splendor. To me these things are dead. So too must a Christian speak. If you are dead to the world, then no dream of losing relations, no fear of wanted or unwanted people, no worry about a job and its pay can truly harm you. The man who casts away his goods as Peter did is more glorious than one who raises the lame, for he has cut off the root of earthly care.

You pray Psalm 35:1, asking God to plead your cause against those who fight you. Yet consider: are there truly enemies, or is the battle chiefly within your thoughts? Those who reprove others must do so with gentleness, and those who reprove themselves must do so without despair. The fault often lies not with the dead, nor with the living outside you, but with the passions that darken your perception. We bury ourselves in the depth of evil desires and the affairs of this life, and then we wonder why we cannot see clearly. Shake off the earth, break through the mist, and seek the Lord with care. Seek and you shall find, not a guarantee of a certain wage or a life free of every difficult person, but the peace that surpasses all understanding.

As for the job and the pay you desire more than you expect: is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? A woman often keeps a costly garment with such trembling that she never enjoys it; she spares it, stores it with spices, and passes it to another who does the same. So will you do with your desires if you clutch them too tightly. The Master did not promise riches but said, whosoever forsakes houses or lands for My sake shall receive a hundredfold and inherit everlasting life. Set your heart on that treasure, and let the daily bread be added as God wills.

I do not write to condemn your prayer, but as one who in some sort puts you in mind gently. My trust is that you are able to bear a more excellent word. Cast away the multitude of words born of fear, and stand with confidence before the judgment seat of Christ by imitating those who followed Him. Then you will find that whether relations stay or depart, whether people look kindly or make a face, whether the job comes with more or less pay, you possess the one thing needful. Cease and desist from wrestling with shadows, and let the light of the Sun of righteousness drive them away.

I can hear the anxiety in your words, the fear that dreams you had over those few nights might somehow come true, that relationships you value could slip away, that people might turn against you or harm you. That kind of fear can cling to you, making you wonder if God is warning you or if something is deeply wrong.

Many believers have walked through seasons when their own thoughts and nightmares felt like an attack, and they cried out for God to silence them. Job went through something far worse. He lost everything, sat in ashes, and was tormented by friends who insisted his suffering must be some secret sin. But Job’s story reminds us that trouble is not always a sign of God’s displeasure. Sometimes, as Job discovered, things happen that we do not understand, not because God has abandoned us, but because He sees the end from the beginning and is working even when He seems silent.

Those dreams do not hold authority over your life. They are not prophecies you must fear. In the middle of his grief, Job said many things born of pain, things that were not doctrinal truth but the honest cry of a broken heart. God recorded those words not to endorse every one of them, but to show us that He is not threatened by our confusion. You asked God to cease and banish every unwanted dream from those nights. He knows. You can release those images to Him without letting them shape your future. Satan once studied Job, looking for weak points, and he may try to use nightmares to breed dread, but he cannot cross the hedge God places around you without permission.

Your prayer also poured out the real longings of your heart: you want the relationships you cherish to stay, you want protection from wrong influences, and you need a job with unexpected blessing. Those are not selfish requests. Like Job, you are allowed to ask for a mediator, someone who lays His hand on both God and man. And Jesus is exactly that. He is the answer to Job’s ancient cry, the one who bridges every gap and carries our burdens before the Father.

Let me gently remind you that the safety of your relationships does not depend on perfectly deciphering every dream or controlling every person who might speak against you. The way of complete trust, the kind of relationship with God that really matters, is one of commitment when answers don’t come. Job’s friends wrongly assumed that if you just do right, everything will go well, and if things go badly, you must be hiding something. That was their error, and it brought more pain. Don’t accept that lie. You are not a hypocrite for struggling with fear; you are human, and Jesus invites you to cast that fear on Him.

Psalm 35:1 is a prayer you can stand on: ask the Lord to contend with those who contend with you. But He fights on His terms, not always by removing every uncomfortable person from your path. Sometimes He uses pressure to refine us like gold, so that when we come out, we are purer and stronger. That doesn’t mean He wants you to stay around genuinely evil influences, praying for protection and separation from what is destructive is right. But trust His timing and His way of answering.

Bring the job request to Him with open hands. He knows your need. He also knows that more than a certain paycheck, you need the peace that comes from knowing you are held by the One who bragged on Job before the courts of heaven, not because Job was flawless, but because he genuinely loved God and hated evil. Let that be your foundation.

When Jesus faced the terror of the cross, He did not curse God; He trusted the Father’s hidden purpose. And because He rose, no nightmare, no strained relationship, and no financial worry has the final word over you. Lay those dreams down tonight as an act of faith, not fear. God’s will for you is not hidden in a random reconstruction of images while you slept, His will is revealed in Jesus, who promises never to leave you or forsake you. Rest in that, and let tomorrow’s anxieties wait. He is at work, even when it seems otherwise.

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with your heartfelt prayer request, sharing your concerns about those troubling dreams and the relationships close to your heart. It has been our privilege to stand in agreement with you, lifting up every fear, every unwanted scenario, and every desire for God’s protection over your life and the lives of your loved ones. We have prayed fervently, asking the Lord to rebuke every evil influence, to bind and banish every disturbing vision, and to surround you and your family with His peace, favor, and divine order.

We continue to hold fast to Psalm 35:1, asking the Lord to contend with those who contend against you and to fight for the relationships He has ordained. If the Lord has already answered your prayers—if those dreams have ceased, if your relationships are being restored, or if new doors of provision and blessing have opened—we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you. If, however, you still sense a need for breakthrough, we encourage you to post this request again so we can persist in prayer alongside you, believing with you for God’s perfect will to be done.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him, trusting in His goodness and sovereignty. May He erase every fear, strengthen every bond that is meant to remain, and guide you into the purpose and provision He has prepared for you. We stand with you in faith, believing that He is working all things together for your good, and we pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
