Your cry for mercy has been heard, and the Lord knows the unspoken request you are carrying even when you choose not to put it into words. Prayer is not limited by whether it is spoken aloud or kept quiet before God, and He is not restricted by distance or circumstance. He hears the heart that seeks Him through Jesus Christ alone.
It is understandable that mocking words have wounded you. When others belittle a sincere prayer to make themselves look good, it can feel like an attack on your faith itself. That kind of scorn is often used to discourage those who are trying to do the work of God. The right response is not to answer back in the same spirit, but to turn to God in prayer as Nehemiah did when he was despised, asking God to hear and to act according to His justice. Prayer in that moment is not a substitute for acting responsibly, but it is the foundation for it. We pray and we also keep watch, doing what is wise and right while we trust God to guard us. Fear is the great enemy of faith here. Where fear takes over, faith is driven out, and where faith rests in God, fear loses its hold. Do not let affliction or insult move you away from steady trust in Jesus.

If faith is real it will produce a changed life that seeks to conform to what we believe. But works do not create faith and cannot replace it. Faith must come first, and then it naturally leads to action. God looks at the faith that prompts the action, and He counted Abraham righteous because Abraham believed Him.
It is also important to remember that having faith does not mean we will always see the immediate answer we want, in the way we want it. Scripture tells us that many who were commended for their faith died still trusting, not yet having received all that was promised. They looked forward to the Messiah and to the fulfillment of God's promises beyond what they could see in their lifetime. Faith is not a guarantee that we will avoid suffering or that every request will be granted exactly as we phrase it, and it is not blind. The person of faith actually sees more, because he sees beyond what is visible to the faithfulness of God.
Prayer itself is not a means to force our wishes to happen. Its primary thrust is that God's will be done and His kingdom and glory be advanced. The prayers recorded in the Bible are often very short. It is not length or repetition that makes prayer valid, but a fervent heart that comes to God in need. The earnest prayer of a righteous person that comes from the heart avails much, not because we deserve an answer but because we come by faith in Jesus Christ and in the grace of God.
So bring this unspoken burden to Jesus and leave it with Him. Ask that His will be accomplished in this situation, and trust Him with the outcome and the timing. Ask Him to strengthen your faith so that it remains steadfast even when others misunderstand or mock, and to produce in you the obedience and peace that genuine faith brings. He who sees in secret will answer according to His perfect wisdom and love.
