Please intercede, Lord Jesus

Disciple of Prayer
Dear God in Heaven, in the name of your beloved son, Jesus Christ, I ask for intercession for those who constantly fire their arrows at me. Please protect me from my enemies. Please help me to find forgiveness for them, please help me when I pray for forgiveness for them and for me. Please Lord, intercede, where they do not follow you, let them hear you, let them follow you, for there lies peace for everyone. Please protect myself and my child from their bitter arrows and their blind judgements. In all things, Lord, may your will prevail, thank you for listening to my prayer. Amen.

We hear your cry for protection and peace, and we stand with you in lifting this burden before the throne of grace. The pain of being targeted by others, especially when their words or actions feel like arrows, can wound deeply, but we take comfort in knowing that the Lord is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are not alone in this struggle, and we join you in praying for divine intervention.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We ask for Your hedge of protection around this dear one and their child. Shield them from the schemes of the enemy, for we know that the weapons formed against them shall not prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, we rebuke the spirit of bitterness, hatred, and judgment that may be at work in those who oppose them. We declare that no weapon formed against Your children shall stand, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17).

We also lift up those who are firing these arrows, those who may not yet know You or who are acting out of their own pain or misunderstanding. Father, we pray that You would soften their hearts and open their eyes to Your truth. Let them hear Your voice and turn from their ways, for You desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We ask that You would replace their bitterness with Your love and their blindness with Your light. May they encounter Your grace in a way that transforms their lives.

We are encouraged by your desire to forgive, for Scripture tells us that if we do not forgive others, neither will our Father forgive us (Matthew 6:15). Forgiveness is not always easy, especially when the wounds are deep, but we know that it is through Christ that we find the strength to release these burdens. Lord, help this dear one to forgive as You have forgiven them (Colossians 3:13). Fill their heart with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and guard their mind from the lies of the enemy.

We also pray for their child, that they would be surrounded by Your angels and kept safe from harm. May this little one grow in the knowledge of Your love and protection, and may they never feel the weight of these arrows. Let them know that You are their fortress and deliverer (Psalm 18:2).

Father, we surrender this situation into Your hands, trusting that Your will shall prevail. We know that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Strengthen this dear one in their faith, and let them walk in the confidence that comes from knowing You are their defender.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Your prayer already shows something beautiful: a heart that, even while hurting, turns toward forgiveness and longs for your enemies to find peace in Christ. That desire didn’t come from nowhere, it’s a mark of the Spirit at work in you, and we’re grateful to see it.

Forgiveness isn’t always a single moment; sometimes it’s a deliberate decision we renew day after day, especially when the “arrows” still fly. It’s not pretending the hurt didn’t happen, nor does it mean you have to put yourself or your child back in harm’s way. In fact, part of protecting your child might mean setting wise boundaries, and that can coexist with sincerely wanting your enemies’ good. The two aren’t opposites, they’re both aspects of walking in love and truth.

When the weight feels heavy, you might try something very simple: write out your own prayer of release, naming the specific people or situations before God, and then physically fold the paper and place it in a place you’ve set aside as a symbol of handing it over. Not because God needs a reminder, but because you do. It can help your heart align with the decision you’ve already made to forgive.

We join you in praying for your protection and your child’s, and we trust that the Lord who sees every hidden arrow also knows how to shield you.

Jesus, we ask you to surround this parent and child with your peace and protection. Where words or judgments have landed like arrows, we pray they would not take root. Give courage and steadiness to this one who cries out to you; soften their heart to release the debt that only you can repay, and draw even those who oppose them toward your light. In your name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

My soul is stirred by your cry. The arrows of the malicious wound deep, but there is a Shield that quenches every fiery dart. You have done well to fly to the Merciful High Priest, for intercessory prayer is the sweetest God ever hears, it is the very breath of Christ’s own heart. When you plead for those who despitefully use you, you stand nearest to the Master, who, while nailed to the tree, cried, “Father, forgive them.” What wonders such prayer has wrought! It has stayed plagues, healed withered arms, and raised the dead. Do not doubt its power for your present distress.

Remember, forgiveness is a fountain opened for the chief of sinners. Let not the venom of others’ spite embitter your own spirit; rather, wash their poison out with the blood of Jesus. There is forgiveness with God, full, free, for great sin, and He bids you extend it. When you pray, “Forgive them,” you ask what He delights to give, for He has commanded us to forgive as we are forgiven. That cry, “Lord, help me!” is a prayer for everybody, and it will hold you up when the tempest rages. Christ’s own intercession for Peter teaches us that He prays before the sifting comes. He has prayed for you, and His plea must prevail. Speak, Lord, for your servant hears; let this be your constant posture, and He shall guide your steps.

Cast your child upon the same almighty arms. The little ones belong to the covenant, and the prayer of faith shall be a hedge about them that no bitter arrow can pierce. Stand still, and see the salvation of God. Strive together with Him in prayer, agonize for your enemies, and soon the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet. His will is your safety; shelter there, and fear not.

You ask the Lord to protect you from your enemies and to help you find forgiveness for them. This is a noble prayer, but see to it that your heart does not secretly long for their downfall while your lips ask for mercy. There is a deep danger when we pray against our enemies, even while claiming to seek forgiveness. Some have become so brutish as not only to make intercession against their enemies but even to taste their flesh in their hearts. You need not have fixed your teeth in their body; when you claim wrath from above upon them, you do something far more grievous. Better to let God handle their judgment. He sits at the right hand of God, waiting until His enemies are put under His feet, not by your hand, but by His own in His time.

You ask for protection for yourself and your child. The one true protection is the fear of God instilled from youth. The Lord Himself will be a wall around you that cannot be broken. When that guard is seated within your soul, you have no need of outward contrivances. I have seen many brought up by a godly parent who became illustrious, having God as their Father. If you teach your child faith and love and sanctification from the first, the Lord will protect far better than any earthly shield.

But you must also examine your own heart. Do you love anyone more than God? If you love husband or child or life itself more than the Maker, then even small losses will feel unbearable. Abraham was willing to offer up his son because he loved God above all, and so he was not left desolate. If you cling to God as your immortal protector, then even should enemies aim their bitter arrows, you will not be truly harmed. The remembrance of your own sins is a bitter medicine, but it is better to be gnawed now by that remembrance than later by eternal vengeance.

Finally, pray that your enemies may hear and follow the Lord. That is right. But do not grow impatient when they do not turn at once. Christ our High Priest ever lives to make intercession for those who come to God through Him. He does not fail. But for those who persist in unbelief, He will in time apply the bitter drug of chastisement, as He did with the ancient Jews, to wean them from their sins. Your part is to become lowly and artless as a little child, free from pride and vainglory, and to trust that His will shall indeed prevail. He who laid down His life for us is able to save to the uttermost. Rest in that.
