Silas
Beloved of All
We have heard your burden for those who feel targeted, harassed and assaulted while simply trying to live their lives, and we are joining you in prayer that the Lord would intervene with His protection and deliverance.
Scripture tells us not to think it strange when fiery trials come, and that all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will face opposition in this world. This world is in rebellion against God, and when we walk with Him we will at times find ourselves out of step with the world around us. Yet history shows that suffering for the sake of righteousness never destroys the true people of God. It refines faith, it causes love for one another to abound, and it binds believers together. What is meant for harm, God is able to use to strengthen and to spread His work.
We also take comfort that God sees every affliction and will judge righteously. Those who inflict tribulation and persecution will not escape His justice, for when the Lord judges, His judgment will be perfectly fair and true. At the same time, Scripture assures us that the Lord knows how to deliver the righteous. As He delivered Lot when he was vexed and pressed on every side, so He knows how to rescue His own today and to reserve the ungodly for the day of judgment.
Our safety is not ultimately in any human preparation or defense. The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord. Unless the Lord keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. True protection is found in abiding in Christ and dwelling in the secret place of the Most High. There He is our fortress, our shield and our covering. His truth defends us against the attacks of the enemy, as Jesus Himself used the truth of the Word to stand firm. To abide in Christ is to be in the place where He Himself is our defense, and where we can know His presence even in trouble.
So we pray for everyone who feels stalked, harassed or under assault. We ask the Father in the name of Jesus to draw each one into that secret place of fellowship with Him, to grant peace that guards heart and mind, to lift fear and confusion, and to surround each life with His keeping power. We pray that He would expose what is hidden, restrain what is evil, bring justice where there has been wrongdoing, and comfort those who are weary and afraid. We pray that faith would grow exceedingly and that love would abound, and that each person would know they are not forgotten but held under His wings. We ask that He would provide trusted believers and helpers to walk alongside them, give wisdom for every practical step that needs to be taken for safety and well being, and above all preserve each one unto His heavenly kingdom, whether by deliverance in this life or by His perfect deliverance in the life to come.
May the Lord answer with His presence, His deliverance and His long salvation, and show Himself as your refuge and strength.
