Please help turn my luck around

David C 1111

Disciple of Prayer
I prayed for my luck to improve the other day, and was hit with some of the worst luck immediately after. I feel cursed. I need someone to lift this cloud from me, and help me with some blessings please... need some good energy. Amen.

We understand your distress, and we want to address this with truth and love, for the Word of God is clear that our hope is not in "luck," "good energy," or fleeting circumstances, but in the sovereign, unchanging character of our Heavenly Father. The very idea of "luck" is foreign to Scripture—what the world calls "luck" or "fate," we know as the providence of God, who works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

First, we must gently but firmly rebuke the language of curses, "good energy," and the focus on luck, for these are not biblical concepts. Nowhere in Scripture are believers instructed to seek blessings through vague "energy" or supernatural manipulation. Instead, we are called to trust in Christ, repent of sin, and walk in obedience. If you feel as though you are under a "cloud" or burden, we urge you to examine your heart before the Lord. Have you confessed and turned from any known sin? The psalmist writes, *"If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened"* (Psalm 66:18). Sin separates us from God’s favor, but repentance restores us.

You also closed with "Amen," which is good, but we notice you did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer. This is not a small matter. Jesus Himself said, *"No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6), and *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son"* (John 14:13). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through faith in Christ that we have access to the throne of grace. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we implore you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and commit to following Him. Without Christ, there is no true blessing—only temporary relief that will ultimately leave you empty.

Now, let us turn to Scripture for encouragement. The trials you are facing may feel overwhelming, but God’s Word assures us that He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Consider the words of James: *"Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing"* (James 1:2-4). Your struggles are not in vain—they are refining you, drawing you closer to dependence on God. He is not a cosmic vending machine dispensing "good luck" when we insert the right prayers; He is a loving Father who disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:6) and uses every circumstance to conform us to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29).

As for blessings, Jesus taught that true blessing comes from hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matthew 5:6), from persecution for His sake (Matthew 5:10), and from walking in obedience to His commands. Earthly "good fortune" is fleeting, but the blessings of God—peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7), joy in trial (1 Peter 1:6-7), and the hope of eternity with Him—are eternal. Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and *"all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You, knowing that You are the God who sees, who hears, and who acts on behalf of Your children. Lord, we ask that You open their eyes to the truth of Your Word and the futility of trusting in "luck" or "energy." Convict them of any sin that may be hindering their relationship with You, and grant them a spirit of repentance. If they have not yet surrendered to Christ, we pray that today would be the day of salvation, that they would turn from sin and place their faith wholly in Jesus.

Father, we rebuke any spiritual oppression or lies of the enemy that would make this one feel "cursed." Your Word declares that *Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us* (Galatians 3:13). Let them walk in the freedom and victory that Christ has already won. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and remind them that Your ways are higher than ours, and Your timing is perfect.

We ask that You provide for their needs—spiritually, emotionally, and physically—not as the world defines "good fortune," but as You know is best for their growth and Your glory. Surround them with godly community, fill them with Your peace, and let them experience the joy of Your presence. May they seek You above all else and find their satisfaction in You alone.

In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to meditate on God’s promises daily. Read Psalm 23, which reminds us that even in the "valley of the shadow of death," we need fear no evil, for God is with us. Cling to Philippians 4:19: *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* And remember, *"The Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man can do to me"* (Hebrews 13:6). Walk in obedience, trust in His goodness, and watch as He transforms your perspective and your circumstances for His glory. Stay in prayer, stay in the Word, and seek fellowship with believers who can encourage you in the faith. You are not alone—God is with you, and we are standing with you in prayer.

We're here for you, and we want to lift you up in prayer. We understand that it's tough when it feels like luck is against you, but remember, luck is a concept that doesn't align with our faith. Instead, we trust in God's sovereignty and His plan for us.

First, let's ask ourselves, is there any unconfessed sin in our lives? The Bible tells us that sin separates us from God's favor, but repentance brings us back to Him. Let's search our hearts and turn away from anything that might be causing a barrier between us and God.

Now, let's pray together, in Jesus' name:

"Dear Lord, we come before You today, feeling burdened and down. We ask for Your comfort and strength. Help us to trust in Your goodness, even when circumstances don't seem to be going our way. Open our eyes to see the truth of Your Word and to understand that our hope is in You, not in luck or fleeting circumstances.

Lord, if there's any sin in our lives, please reveal it to us and help us to turn away from it. Help us to walk in obedience to You, knowing that true blessings come from a right relationship with You.

We ask for Your provision, Lord. Not just for material things, but for spiritual growth and emotional peace. Surround us with Your love and the love of Your people. Fill us with Your peace and joy, no matter what we're facing.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Let's keep trusting in God's plan, even when we can't see it. He's got a purpose in all things, and He's working everything together for our good. Stay strong, and remember, you're not alone. We're praying for you.
