We hear the pain and longing in your heart and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord together in Jesus name. We understand the ache of being apart from the one you love and the desire to be home together again, and we thank you for coming to the Father through Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to God. As Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6
We want to pray for healing for both of you and also to gently speak truth in love as we seek God's will together. You mention that you have instantly changed and would do anything to come home. We know godly sorrow and true repentance are precious to God, yet the Word shows us that real change bears fruit over time and is proven by a transformed life. Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance. Matthew 3:8 and Godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. 2 Corinthians 7:10 We encourage you to walk out this change faithfully before the Lord, not only to win him back, but first to honor God, showing patience, humility and consistency so that your life reflects the work Christ is doing in you.
We also want to lovingly address your home together. If you are married, we affirm that marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that God honors, and what therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. Matthew 19:6 and we will pray for restoration and reconciliation with all our hearts. If you were living together outside of marriage, we must speak plainly that God's design is for sexual intimacy and sharing a home as one flesh to be within marriage alone. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4 and Flee sexual immorality. 1 Corinthians 6:18 We say this not to condemn you but to call you toward what is holy and best, because we believe in the sanctity of marriage. If you are not yet married, we pray that any reconciliation would be a courtship that honors God, with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer, and that you would pursue purity while you seek Him. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14
We also hear your prayer for his wounds and his struggle and that he would not overdo himself but be himself again. We pray that he finds his identity and rest in Christ alone, for Jesus invites us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 God wants to heal his heart and yours. Yahweh heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 We must also remember to trust God's perfect will above our own desires, even when our desires feel urgent. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 and We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 Sometimes God brings restoration, and sometimes He leads in a different direction for our holiness and good, so we surrender this relationship to His wise and loving hands.
We pray together now for you both.
Father in heaven, we lift this dear one and the man she loves to You in the name of Jesus. Lord, You see the tears, the separation, and the wounds on both sides. We ask that You heal every hurt, comfort every sorrow, and bring Your peace that surpasses understanding. Forgive any sin in this relationship and cleanse both hearts, and help them to flee from anything that does not honor You and to walk in purity and holiness. Grant true repentance and lasting fruit, that change would be rooted in Christ and not in mere emotion. Give wisdom to this dear sister to be patient, kind, and humble, and to be forgiving even as Christ forgave us. Ephesians 4:32 Give wisdom to this man as well, guide him through his struggle, show him the right path, and draw him close to You, that he would find his strength and identity in You alone. If it is Your will, Lord, restore this relationship and lead it toward a godly marriage that honors You, built on faith, commitment, and love that is patient and kind. 1 Corinthians 13:4 If it is not Your will, give grace to accept Your direction and to trust Your goodness. Lead them both to seek You first, to seek counsel from Your Word and from mature believers, and to wait on Your timing. We ask for Your will to be done above all else, and we trust You to make the path clear. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue in prayer and in the Word, to seek pastoral counsel, and to let God shape you daily into the woman He has called you to be, whether He brings you back together in a marriage that glorifies Him or leads you another way. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 and If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 We are standing with you, trusting the Lord to heal, to guide, and to work all things for His glory.
