We hear the weight of what you have been carrying and we stand with you in prayer together before the Lord in Jesus' name. To have endured more than 3000 of these distressing dreams over eight years, many repeating in different versions, with themes of being forced to move on others terms, being tricked, being put in lockdown, being followed and stalked by others, seeing family members die and return to torment you, and becoming distant from your close relation, has surely left you weary and troubled. We want you to know that God sees your distress and He is not the author of fear or torment.
The Word tells us For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 and also There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18. These nightmares that bring fear, torture, and dread are not from the Lord. Our enemy seeks to steal peace, but God promises peace to His children. We are reminded I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh, alone make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8 and He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2.
We also understand your fear that these dreams might come true. Dreams, even recurring ones, are not prophecy and do not determine your future. God alone is sovereign over your life and the lives of your close relations and family. The dead do not return to harm the living, that imagery in your dreams is part of the torment the enemy is using to frighten you, not a reality God will allow. We take comfort that nothing can separate us from the love of God and that He watches over us. We also remember Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the victorious, merciful and magnificent name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, we ask You to rebuke every spirit of fear, torment and oppression that has been attacking through these nightmares. We resist the enemy in Jesus' name and we ask You to command these dreams to cease. Lord, guard this one's mind and heart with Your perfect peace. We pray that You will not allow any of these evil scenarios to come to pass, that You will set a hedge of protection around this life and around every close relation and family member mentioned. Keep them safe in Your hands, let no one follow, stalk, trap or wrong them. We pray for victory in this close relation, that instead of distance and loss, You would bring closeness, understanding, protection and Your will to be done. Let Your love cast out all fear. Grant restful, peaceful sleep, free from torment, and let this one lie down in safety knowing You alone make us dwell in safety. We take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and we declare that You are our light and salvation, whom shall we fear. Psalm 27:1. Fill this heart with Your power, love and sound mind. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring these burdens to the Lord each night before sleep, to pray aloud in Jesus' name and to fill your mind with Scripture. When a nightmare comes, immediately upon waking, speak the name of Jesus and quote His promises, for at the name of Jesus every evil must flee. Meditate on His Word during the day, for You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3. If these dreams continue to heavily oppress you, we encourage you to also seek wise, biblical counsel from a trusted pastor so he can pray with you in person and walk with you toward lasting peace. We thank God that you prayed in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father, and we trust that He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to give you victory and rest.
